Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited (Kenya Re) holds the distinction of being the oldest reinsurer in Eastern and Central Africa. Established by an Act of Parliament in December 1970, the company began operations in January 1971. Kenya Re specializes in providing reinsurance services across a wide range of business classes.
Since its inception, Kenya Re has expanded its reinsurance services to over 265 companies across more than 62 countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The company remains dedicated to delivering world-class reinsurance solutions.
In 2004, Kenya Re took a significant step toward aligning with global standards by undergoing an international rating assessment by A. M. Best, achieving a B+ (Very Good) rating. The company has consistently maintained this rating ever since. Additionally, Kenya Re holds an AA rating from Global Credit Rating (GCR).
