    Senior Programmer Analyst

    As a Senior Programmer Analyst, you will act as the lead programmer, supervising the statistical and bioinformatics programming aspects of clinical trials from design through analysis and reporting.

    Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

    Programming lead on studies of significant complexity, working directly with project team leaders and client representatives to conduct team meetings, develop and maintain project timelines, assess and forecast resources, and monitor study budgets.
    Assumes leadership responsibility as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary project team, communicating actively and frequently with other team members and ensuring adherence to SOPs.
    Independently create, maintain, and validate programs for transferring data across multiple systems, combine and store data from various sources, generate reports and summaries, using SAS for creating listings, tables, and figures.
    Manages and documents assignments to meet timelines and deliver high quality work, being familiar with any relevant contractual obligations or limits.
    Increases knowledge base and professional skills in areas including programming, technology and techniques, clinical trials, and the pharmaceutical industry.
    Provides training, guidance, and project leadership to junior team members.
    Provides general infrastructure support to the department, including representing the company at industry conferences, presenting at department meetings, assisting in establishing training materials, and contributing to other general department documents or policies such as the development of departmental working practice documents and SOPs.
    Provides input into bidding process as requested.

    Education and Experience:

    Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field and at least 8 years’ experience in hands-on programming, with lead programming experience.

    OR

    Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and at least 10 years’ experience in hands-on programming, with lead programmer experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    In-depth understanding of one or more programming languages. SAS required.
    ADaM, SDTM and TLF programming experience
    Proven experience as an independent, lead programmer.
    Experience programming complex analysis datasets and outputs (efficacy, complex lab and regulatory requests)
    Strong written and verbal communications skills to effectively interface with teams and clients, including proficiency in the English language
    Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary project team, training and mentoring others
    Solid project management skills to act as project lead across the most challenging and complex projects.
    Capable of providing quality control review for statistical programming and identifying solutions and process improvements.

    The Role

    Core responsibilities will include:

    Strategy Development and Implementation : Programs Partners

    Supporting the Regional Director- Africa (RD) in the development of the strategy and annual program plans.
    Serve as a close thought partner to the Regional Director- Africa for ideating and executing priority specific strategy and plans (eg Women in Leadership (WIL), unpaid care etc).
    Drive the execution and adoption of the annual Program Partner (PP) support plans, including ensuring that the Program Assistant is updating the tracking sheets, and Account Leads(AL) are documenting Program Partner calls. Track progress and deviations at a portfolio level via regular check-ins with Program Manager (PM) and Program Assistant (PA).
    Work closely with the Regional Director-Africa to develop the sourcing strategy and approach document for the region.
    Identifying and meeting with potential pipeline organisations and assessing their fit for Co-Impact. Sharing these insights and plans with the Regional Director-Africa.
    Play a lead role in ensuring that the pipeline PPs are identified and green lighted by the Regional Director-Africa and leadership to ensure movement through the sourcing process is done in a seamless manner. This includes quality assuring and preparing recommendation memos when needed, guiding and supporting the Program Manager with the due diligence processes and overseeing the Program Manager (PM for coordination with the PM ops and grants).
    Serve as account lead for a select number of grants – independently supporting the PPs reach their goals towards just and inclusive systems change, taking independent decisions and managing the grants.
    Identify trends, problem areas and other insights (around PP support and sourcing of new ideas) and share with the Regional Director-Africa on a regular basis to adapt plans accordingly.
    Link up with the account leads and the Learning Monitoring and Evaluation (LME) team to: provide LME support to PPs to achieve outcomes, source research partnerships in the region aligned with Co-impact’s philosophy and goals.
    Support the Regional Director-Africa and the LME team to draw out cross-cutting themes and lessons and their dissemination and in measuring and tracking our impact at a meta level through the work of our PPs.

    Team Coordination and Representation

    Serve as a liaison and coordinator with other Co-impact functional teams to ensure flow and exchange of information and decision making for the region as needed and based on consultation with the Regional Director -Africa.
    Represent Co-impact and the Regional Director-Africa in important external meetings and convenings including building relations with regional funders in consultation with the Regional Director- Africa.
    Support the team (Program Assistant and Program Managers) in their growth and development.

    Experience being an outcomes-focused and program partner grantee-centered grantmaker, having supported civil society efforts in the Global South would be a real asset, though context dependent working with government, NGOs, grantmaking, social sector etc.

    The Programme Officer may be based in HQ, field/regional bureau, typically reporting to and be guided by the Senior Program officer and may supervise a small team of local and international staff.     You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development
    You are a team player and have experience in collaborative development
    You have worked with CI/CD systems (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Concourse CI, etc.)
    You have a track record of delivering timely, high-quality software
    You have experience with container images and containerised operations
    You master at least one container management/orchestration tool (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
    You have significant experience with Python and/or Go
    You are experienced with Linux systems administration and package management
    You have strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts
    You bring clarity to technical and engineering discussions

Clear, stylish presentation that aids the user experience of our products is how we raise the bar and reach the widest audience. Real content and information will be at the core of the designs you produce. You know the ins and outs of typography, colour and layout, and you care deeply about usability, accessibility and web standards. You should have agency, company or freelance design experience.
