    As a Journalist, you’ll play a pivotal role in meeting the needs of BBC Monitoring’s users by identifying news and key insights based on the monitoring of vernacular sources – TV, radio, newspapers and social media – across Africa.  
    You will produce engaging content in English and cover many news stories, including breaking news.
    You will work a shift pattern, feed into the global news agenda, acting as a point of reference on Sub-Saharan Africa.
    You’ll use a variety of tools and techniques to mine the media for story ideas, identify emerging trends and narratives and contribute to advance planning for coverage of key events.

    The purpose of this internship is to support the ESARO Climate Hub in its pursuit and efforts in increasing climate finance for UNICEF ESAR, RO and COs, and the children of the region as well as to build capacity around climate, sustainability, and climate finance opportunities. The intern will manage mapping exercises, support the development of clinics and guidance material for country offices and sectoral colleagues as well as work closely with COs, RO, and HQ in developing concept notes and proposals.     Main tasks and responsibilities
    Under the supervision of the Climate Specialist in the ESARO Climate & Sustainability Section, the incumbent will be responsible for:  

    Support the development of climate finance capacity-building efforts, such as clinics and webinars
    Conduct necessary mapping exercises linked to climate finance and capacity building
    Support in developing learning and training material for, but not exclusively, climate finance and funding opportunities
    Support in developing TORs, presentations, speaking points, etc
    Review and support COs, RO sector colleagues, and HQ in developing concept notes and proposals
    Ensure that the Climate Hub SharePoint and newsletters are up to date with the most recent information on current and future climate finance-related opportunities, deadlines, etc.

    Eligibility & Minimum requirements 
    To be considered for the internship, applicants have to meet the following requirements:

    Enrolment in a master’s degree programme in an undergraduate or graduate school, or recent graduation in Sustainability/Environment/Climate finance, Environmental/Climate policy, Communications, International Development, Environmental science, or another relevant technical field
    Proficiency in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French, or Spanish, and fluent in the working language of the office of assignment
    Strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records

    You will you use your  policy research and advocacy, on issues such as tax and debt, aid flows, inclusive budget cycles to support movement building, with the ability to develop a wide range of relevant contacts.  The post holder will use its experience in working in global justice movements with an ability to build strong and cohesive relationships within complex and nuanced civil society environments to facilitate movement building and delivering innovative programme.

    Participate in the design of field scenarios  

    At field level : 

    Implement the Training of simulation facilitators at field level to implement simulation programs for pediatrics and neonatology
    Identify, together with the field teams, areas of  quality improvement in pediatrics and neonatology where simulation  can be used  
    Support the field teams in planning a simulation program with the support of the capacity building and deployments  technician .
    Integrate simulation activities adapted to the needs and context of the field

    Follow up and others:

    Implements/supports follow-up activities of simulation programs implemented/planned in the field with the support of the capacity building and deployments  technician 
    Participate in supporting the trained  simulation local facilitators .
    Promotes and makes visible the benefit of simulation in the field for pediatrics and neonatology

    SELECTION CRITERIA 

    Paediatrician  with experience in MSF Field experience or other Medical organization. At least 2 years. (The experience as manager in emergencies interventions is an asset).

    Responsibilities :
    Management and Coordination

    Assume responsibility as the technical focal point for all AA activities in the region supporting countries with project delivery across the AA portfolio and coordinating between countries;
    Contribute to technical working groups both internal and external, and participate in partner discussions and forums.

    Implementation and technical support

    Support the country programmes in direct delivery of anticipatory action projects, including the development of conflict and protection analyses and contingency plans with communities, preparedness activities, trigger development and trigger release actions.
    Work with country teams in the development of frameworks and policy-level discussions at local and national government levels to ensure AA planning is part of the country humanitarian preparedness plan;
    Work with the Global Lead on AA to develop programmatic guidance and policies on AA in response to conflict- and climate hazards;
    Work with DRC’s broader Evidence, Knowledge and Learning team regarding the use of data and displacement forecasting models in AA and support the team in capturing evidence, lessons learned and formulating recommendations for other humanitarian actors and policy makers.

    Business development and Advocacy

    Contribute to external advocacy and representation of DRC in relation to AA;
    Work closely with the DRC’s advocacy team on policy engagement related to expanding uptake of AA in humanitarian sector;
    Support the EAGL region with business development activities to expand the AA portfolio working with countries to develop proposals and engage with prospective donors.

    Reporting and communication
    Establish and maintain clear lines of communication with AA project staff at the country levels;

    Support the project’s grants staff or focal points to ensure AA project staff are submitting quality and timely technical AA reports in line with donor and DRC requirements.

    About you

    To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 5 years of experience in a similar senior technical role overseeing AA projects or initiatives, coordinating across countries and engaging with external stakeholder.
