    Job Overview

    Key Responsibilities

    Collaborate in the full development lifecycle of our web platforms, from concept through deployment and maintenance.
    Design and develop front-end interfaces that provide seamless user experiences.
    Integrate front-end components with RESTful APIs and backend services.
    Assist in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance across systems.
    Create user manuals and documentation to support software functionality.

    Qualifications & Skills

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field; comparable experience is also acceptable.

    Technical Skills:

    Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with Vue.js and Blade is a plus.
    Experience with PHP, Laravel (latest version), and web frameworks, applying the SOLID principle.
    Understanding of API service management (REST, SOAP), object-oriented programming, and MVC frameworks.
    Familiarity with database architecture, query optimization (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL).
    Knowledge of server technologies (Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM) and cloud platforms (Digital Ocean, Google Cloud Platform).

    Soft Skills:

    Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

    Preferred Skills

    Experience in third-party API integration.
    Passion for clean design, best coding practices, and a desire to innovate.
    Familiarity with Digital Ocean, Google Cloud Platform, and unit testing technologies.

    Identify challenges and barriers faced by insurance companies in investing in green assets, such as regulatory constraints, lack of incentives, or unclear guidelines.
    Identify and evaluate opportunities for insurance companies to invest in green assets
    Provide recommendations for regulatory improvements or new policies that could facilitate increased investment in green assets by insurance companies
    Consult with relevant stakeholders, including insurance regulators, industry associations, insurance companies, and sustainability experts, to gather insights and validate findings.
    Prepare a comprehensive report summarizing the findings, analyses, and recommendations

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    We are seeking a highly motivated Finance and Admin Intern to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in finance and accounting within the nonprofit sector. The intern will support our finance department in various tasks, including financial reconciliation, assisting in the preparation of finance reports for programs and donors, and other related duties.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for programs and conors.
    Perform reconciliation of accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
    Support the organization in the development and monitoring of budgets for various programs and projects.
    Help maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded and classified.Assist in processing invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring timely and accurate financial operations.
    Collaborate with the program team to prepare financial reports for donors, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and financial policies.

    Organize, file, and maintain both physical and digital records of financial and administrative documents, ensuring easy retrieval and secure storage.
    Support procurement processes, including obtaining quotes, processing purchase orders, and managing vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
    Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulations, including grant management and reporting requirements.
    Contribute to other finance-related tasks as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Holds a degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
    Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g QuickBooks, Xero).
    Minimum of two years of experience in finance within the nonprofit sector.
    Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    Ability to work independently and as part of ateam.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Key Competence

    The consultant should have expertise in conducting evaluations within the humanitarian context of ASAL Kenya and Ethiopia.
    The consultant should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in public health, education, food security, nutrition, WASH, health systems management, resilience programming or another health-related field.
    The team should possess strong research skills including the ability to collect and analyze data with demonstrated high level of professionalism and ability to work in tight timelines.
    The consultant should also demonstrate experience, capacity and experience in conducting project preparation studies, assessments or feasibility studies, prior work with the OECD-DAC criteria and/or BMZ/BENGO within a proposed timeframe.

    Objective of Internship

    Save the Children is committed to providing opportunities to young people to be exposed to the workplace. By endorsing an active internship policy, Save the Children is able to provide a unique opportunity for young professionals to build their capacity on programming for children. We provide them with short-term placement to sharpen their knowledge and skills in their respective professions through the internship program.

    The Internship opportunities are available in the following functions:

    Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) Intern (Nairobi); The PDQ intern will be part of Save the Children Kenya and Madagascar Country Office. He/ She will provide coordination support to the Programme Development Quality and Impact (PDQ) team under the guidance of the Director of Programme Development and Quality.  The PDQ intern will support the day-to-day work of the PDQ team including; work planning, information management, coordination of processes and research. He/she will work closely with the ACCM team and contribute to the department’s priorities under the guidance of the Head of A&C and the Comms & Media Manager. The intern’s tasks will vary depending on the needs and ongoing work of the PDQ team.

    Internship Period: 3 Months with possibility of extension for another 3 months’ subject to performance.

    The intern will demonstrate motivated participation in the learning experience. 
    The intern will participate in the orientation programs of the organization and abide by all terms and conditions as set out in the internship agreement.
    At the end of the assignment, the intern will provide a comprehensive report demonstrating learning and achievements during the internship as guided by the supervisor.

    Professional Requirements 

    Graduates from reputable national, regional or international universities studying disciplines relevant to the work of the Save the Children International.
    Undergraduate degree, who have not yet entered the formal employment arena are encouraged to apply. 
    Letter of endorsement from appropriate university department where applicable. 
    Should be available on full time for the duration of the programme.
    For Finance, in addition to a first degree, candidates should be either fully qualified CPA/ACCA or studying for the final part of either of the two courses.
