  • Consultant for Go-blue Project Management and Coordination GEF Project Specialist II

    Tasks:

    Providing technical support in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and progress reporting of tasks related to ‘Go Blue Result Area 2 – “Connecting People, Cities and the Ocean: Innovative Land-Sea Planning and Management for a Sustainable and Resilient Kenyan Coast” focusing broadly on demonstration projects support, development of project Guidelines, project data and knowledge management strategy and infrastructure; and other JKP regional frameworks,
    Support Project Management Unit (PMU) in preparation of a Go-Blue data and knowledge management strategy, data infrastructure, capacity building and sustainability plan.
    Contribute to the preparation of briefing notes, concept notes and presentations on the Go-Blue project in synergy with related projects within MCEU and other relevant Units within UNEP,
    Support organization of meetings and contribute to the preparation of Go-Blue meeting agendas, workshops and meeting concept notes, identifying participants, preparation of background and working documents, meeting reports and where appropriate, handling logistics and preparing mission reports,
    Collaborates with the MCEU project team and the Go-Blue Project PMU in reviewing project progress reports and, annual work plans and budget; support implementing partners with reporting requirements, guidelines, rules, and procedures and ensure completeness and accuracy of data submitted,

    Qualifications/special skills

    An advanced university degree (Masters or PhD) in marine sciences, environmental studies specializing in marine and coastal environment, project management or discipline related to work of marine biology and/or coastal ecosystems, or related areas is required.
    At least 2 years of experience in coastal and marine conservation and management, as well as experience in ocean governance and using geospatial tools; work experience in an international organization is also required.
    Familiarity with Sustainable Development Goals in relation to SDG 13 on Climate Action and SDG 14 on life under water is desirable.
    Demonstrate previous experience in project management and coordination, including strategic planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, in – Kenya and the JKP region is desirable.
    Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills, preferably with proven experience working in project management is desirable.

  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator

    Trócaire seeks to recruit a dedicated Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator to support the organization’s MEAL and research functions, and other duties as assigned. The MEAL Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring a systematic approach to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) in the Sudan Country Programme and will facilitate the development and implementation of the country programme MEAL system. Additionally, s/he will work closely with Trocaire partners’ MEAL Officers and will be responsible for supporting baseline surveys, formative and operational research, development of project MEAL plans, community feedback and accountability mechanisms and development of programme MEAL reports. S/he will ensure that these tasks are functional and well grounded, strengthening coordination and collaboration with all programme team and partner staff, while ensuring that MEAL is visible within projects.
    Reporting to Programme Manager this is a fixed term contract for one year contract with possibility of extension.

    Key Responsibilities
    Key Duties & Responsibilities
    Design and support implementation of MEAL System for the country programme:

    Facilitate the development and implementation of the country programme MEAL system
    Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, ensure that the projects have solid MEAL plans, Indicator Performance Tracking Tables, and log frames
    Support the development of tools and guidelines for data collection, collation and reporting to facilitate timely and accurate collection of indicator data and tracking of beneficiary reach
    Ensure that the guidance and data collection and analysis tools for all project indicators are designed and used in accordance with good practices and international standards (SPHERE, GBV, CHS)
    Support project leads (Program Coordinators) and partner MEAL officers in updating the indicator tracking tables and provide necessary MEAL guidance regarding project performance
    In collaboration with Program Coordinators, conduct field visits to monitor program activities / interventions against Quality Benchmarks/ Quality Checklists through qualitative and quantitative methods, and thereafter produce and share reports with Programme Manager and the program team
    Provide technical support to the Programme Team on measuring reach including the annual collection and reporting of reach and use of MEAL information to inform and adapt program implementation
    Support program staff to strengthen joint planning and monitoring with partners
    Work with the Program Coordinators and partner staff in conducting data quality assessments to ensure that collected data is validated, is accurate and consistent while providing feedback as necessary to program teams
    Collaborate with project coordinators and partner MEAL staff in designing and management of project assessments, reviews and evaluations

    Technical Support and Partners Capacity Strengthening:

    support partner’s MEAL capacity assessments and action plans to include generation of training materials and resources where needed but also utilizing the resources available in global office
    work with partners to develop MEL and results frameworks
    Trocaire utilises a results-based management (RBM) approach. The role will include assisting partners to develop relevant project documents that take RBM into account and assist partners to implement RBM approaches in their programming, ensuring that their monitoring tools and reports capture changes happening in the lives of the beneficiaries
    support to partners on digital data collection and analysis
    Support Programme team in conducting timely monitoring and learning activities, including quality assurance of the design and use of data collection, and analysis tools that contribute to quality reporting, increased accountability, visibility of programme impact and continual programme improvement
    Support Trocaire and partner program staff on project related M&E templates/forms for data collection; Output trackers (OT) and Indicator Performance Tracking Table (IPTT) etc
    Support Programme Team to champion the importance of gender sensitive data collection, sex, age and disability disaggregated data and analysis, including the use of the Washington Group short set practical indicators and monitoring tools
    Supervise external consultants engaged by Trocaire during data collection in the project locations

    Accountability to Affected People:

    Support partners to operationalise community accountability in MEL mechanisms and forums where community are holding Trocaire to account on programme implementation as guided by the Field Coordinator
    Support the establishment, implementation and monitoring of Trocaire Complaints and Response Mechanism in all sectors and components of the operations in the programme locations
    Maintain a complaints database and manage the complaints feedback and referral system in close collaboration with the Focal Person(s)/sector heads and management
    Periodically assess capacity gaps in implementing effective accountability and CRM systems, and to design and facilitate appropriate training and capacity development sessions for staff
    Assess beneficiary accountability mechanisms in place and lead strengthening of such mechanisms including through appropriately structured dissemination of M&E findings in the field

    Documenting Learning and Knowledge sharing:

    Ensure learning properly accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle
    Learn from other organisational and external documented learning in rolling out new approaches and methods (e.g. digital data monitoring and innovative participatory M&E methods) and explore how to apply these in the region context
    Document and share partner MEAL tools and training resources developed by any other organization including the Sudan Country programme and organisation level and share other global tool/resources with staffs and partners
    Support Technical coordinators and partner staff in the development of quality case studies that will enhance reporting to the external stakeholders
    Work with the technical leads/coordinators to produce MEAL monthly and annual reports
    Support the updating of program data on Salesforce

    Experience

    KEY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Meet the sales budget under the SHEild programme agreed on annually with the business.
    Growth and achievement of women related business/clientele as per the targets.
    Grow the distribution channel through the existing businesses – Direct Sales Force, Independent Agents, Financial Advisors & Brokers.
    Lead the SHEild programme, ensuring alignment with APA’s broader strategy and ESG agenda.
    Drive the strategic vision for the programme by recommending and driving annual targets, KPIs, and milestones that will position APA as the preferred insurer for women in Kenya.
    Re-energise the SHEild programme by introducing innovative solutions and spearheading product launches that address women’s financial needs.
    Ensure the SHEild programme incorporates lessons learned and is scalable to other markets and customer segments
    Develop and manage strategic alliances and partnerships that align with the SHEild programme’s objectives, including financial institutions, NGOs, and other organisations focused on women’s empowerment.

  • Migration, Mobility and Displacement Consultant Researcher

    The consultant will work with the Migration, Mobility, and Displacement team, in the Human Settlements Group. The contract covers deliverables for two confirmed IIED projects: Understanding and measuring refugee wellbeing in protracted situations: Refining and testing a framework and online tool, and Changing the narrative on where displaced people belong – a programme of advocacy and policy engagement to maximise impact from IIED’s existing portfolio of research on forced urban displacement. A further unconfirmed project focusses on migration governance in East and the Horn of Africa. The total number of days available for this consultancy will depend on the outcome of an ongoing competitive bidding process for the third project. We are looking for a consultant to undertake primary and secondary research

    The consultant will work with IIED staff and partners to analyse qualitative data and design quantitative methodologies, support a range of participatory city exchanges and planning forums, and help design project workshops.
