    Duties and Accountabilities:
    The Health Specialist/Economist will have the following key responsibilities, inter alia:
    Provide implementation support, as needed, to the Bank’s HNP portfolio in Somalia, which includes: (i) Improving Healthcare Services in Somalia (“Damal Caafimaad” Project; (ii) COVID-19 Vaccine Emergency project; (iii) health components under (a) Somalia Crisis Recovery Project (SCRP) and (b) Recurrent Cost and Reform Financing (RCRF) Project; and (iv) support for several health Advisory Services and Analytics (ASAs).

    Contribute to the technical discussions and monitoring of the Bank portfolio in close collaboration with the relevant government agencies and development partners.
    Assist the task team with policy dialogue, communications, and interactions with government counterparts, country stakeholders as well as development partners.
    Contribute to sector-specific inputs for various operational products/outputs (e.g., sector/country briefings, background reports, portfolio performance reviews, etc.).
    Contribute to and participate in missions of the health team in Somalia as directed.
    Respond to ad hoc information requests from internal and external parties.

    The work will be substantive in nature, requiring frequent missions in the field and interactions with various external and internal counterparts in Somalia.
    The Health Specialist/ Economist will report to the HNP Practice Manager for HAEH2. As a field-based staff member, the selected Health Specialist or Health Economist will work closely with the respective Task Team Leaders from HNP GP and other GPs as well as with staff of the the Country Management Unit (CMU). The Health Specialist/Economist will be subject to all World Bank regulations and guidelines applicable to staff.
    Selection Criteria

    At least a Master’s degree in health economics, public health, or a related field. A PhD would be considered an added advantage.
    A minimum of 5 years of full-time relevant professional experience is required.
    Consistent record of working on health, nutrition, and population issues.
    Strong knowledge of and experience with the health sector in developing countries, including institutional set up, health policies and programs, challenges, and priorities.
    Demonstrated expertise in policy dialogue and the ability to interact effectively with Government officials and a range of partners at various levels.
    Prior experience working with/on health systems in Somalia and/or other FCS environments in Sub-Saharan Africa.
    Prior experience in an international development institution (public, NGO or private) or academia is preferred.
    Ability to analyze cross-sectional household and facility-level survey data as well as macro-level time-series budgetary and other relevant data.
    Familiarity with statistical analyses, econometric methods, and related software, preferably STATA.
    Demonstrated track record of synthesizing complex analytics and results into user-friendly outputs, including PowerPoint presentations, Policy Briefs and Working Papers.
    Shown analytical skills linking strategic and quantitative analysis, and the ability to inform high-level policy dialogue through strong communications (including writing) skills, including data visualization skills.
    Respectful and client-engagement skills, and demonstrated success working with multi-disciplinary teams.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    Take a leading, practical role in the strategic and routine operation of a 15-month KTP collaborative project to ‘develop novel female fruit fly protein bait’. Close interaction with project partners from both academia (MKU and UWS) and Farmtrack Consulting Ltd will be needed.
    Take a leading, practical role in the analysis and formulation of the protein bait using locally available materials.
    Work with Project Team to carry out field efficacy trials for the developed product.
    Work with Project Team to develop protocols for analysis and formulation of the product as well as efficacy trials under field conditions.

    Key Responsibilities:
    The Monitoring and Evaluation Senior Advisor will provide global leadership for World Vision on the integration of faith into design, monitoring, and evaluation processes across the Partnership. This will enable WV to better tell the story of how our Christian faith makes a tangible contribution to the sustained well-being of children and will improve effectiveness, impact and quality of programming and advocacy.
    The Senior Advisor is responsible for setting global Faith and Development M&E standards, strengthening capability in F&D M&E, and leading the development of F&D M&E guidance and tools in collaboration with other sectors and ministries. They will provide recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team on options to improve the ways in which WV articulates and measures the role of faith in development.     Major Responsibilities
    Technical Leadership of F&D M&E

    Lead the development of  F&D theories of change, logframes, including indicators, M&E framework, M&E tools
    Provide recommendations on how WV can improve the ways in which we articulate and measure the role of Christian faith in development.
    Lead continuous improvement of F&D M&E based on ongoing review of internal and external industry standard indicators and measurement tools.
    Provide technical M&E support to project model development/refinement.

    Position Overview
    The East & Southern Africa Agricultural Economist will lead activities related to fertilizer, input and soil health in the areas of markets, economics and policy related issues that contributes to advocacy focusing on improved enabling environment. The Economist will support national and regional projects in East & Southern Africa as well as support IFDC’s strategic priorities including new business through conducting evidence based research and products such as development of policy briefs, research papers, that lead to developing concept notes and new proposals etc.  S/he will be based at IFDC’s Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya with regular travel to support regional projects of IFDC as and when required. S/he will be part of IFDC’s Research Team as well as the East & Southern Africa Regional team.
    Specific Activities
    The Economist will undertake the following activities:

    Provide technical leadership and support to the development and implementation of fertilizer and soil health related programs in the areas of economics, markets, and policy related issues;
    Liaise and work closely with Ministries of Agriculture, government agencies, private sector, associations, development partners, stakeholders and projects in the region and serves as a key point of contact in agriculture related policy formulation, analysis, implementation and dissemination;
    Maintain an active and dynamic policy dialogue with other Government institutions, donor platforms and organizations and private sector to facilitate technical discussions and engage in effective policy development and change in soil and fertilizer related issues;
    Coordinate meetings on key issues related to soil health, agricultural inputs and fertilizer markets, policy related issues;
    Be responsible for fertilizer, input and policy sector working group/platform meetings (preparation, reporting and following up recommendations)
    Provide support/lead in the development of new business related to policy and enabling environment issues with regard to input policies, with particular focus on soil fertility related. Activities may include the development of policy briefs to support new business, the development of concept notes and technical inputs into proposal development;
    Participating in and conducting training and capacity building programs on key economic and policy issues on fertilizers and soil health related issues.

    Requirements

    This position requires a broad knowledge and understanding of economic, agriculture, and fertilizer conditions in East & Southern Africa to properly determine the issues affecting the functioning of markets (inputs) and the role of soil fertility issues affecting the farmer use and adoption.
    The position further requires specialized experience in input policies – in terms of formulation and advocacy at different levels and  the ability to lead and participate in the implementation of projects associated with development projects involving soil fertility related interventions; 
    Knowledge and experience for conducting qualitative and quantitative surveys towards generating evidence to support or test the fertilizer market and soil fertility related interventions that have potential impact on policies
    Knowledge of international development agencies, government ministries and agencies, and donors to prepare successful funding economic and policy recommendations and proposals to donors;

    We are looking for a motivated Bioinformatician to join our research team in advancing the use of next generation systems of high-throughput RNA and DNA sequencing for informing malaria vector control policy. This individual will support research scientists and students by providing data analysis support for the teams in Kenya and Benin as they analyse RNAseq, WGS and other ‘omics data through a virtual high-performance compute (HPC) server. The successful candidate should work well in a team environment, exercise great attention to detail, and have keen analytical insight.     Essential Requirements:

    A least PhD in Bioinformatics and/or Computational sciences OR a MSc degree in Bioinformatics with at least 5 years high level experience (equivalent to a senior scientist level).

    Requirements

    Christian commitment and practice
    Earned PhD in Midwifery or Reproductive Health Nursing with Midwifery from an accredited University, OR
    Master’s degree in Midwifery or Reproductive Health Nursing with Midwifery from an accredited university with at least three (3) years teaching experience at university level or in research/industry; and
    A minimum of 24 publication points of which at least 16 should be from refereed journal papers
    Registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya and with a valid Practice License

    Responsibilities

    Teaching and training of students in line with schemes, policies, processes, and procedures
    Conducting quality research to enhance the scholarship, visibility, and intellectual contribution of the University
    Evaluating students through continuous assessments and examinations
    Engaging in curriculum and program review and development
    Mobilizing resources and building bridges with industry
    Mentoring of students in academic and spiritual nurture
    Implementing of best practices in teaching, training and research for improved performance and achievements.
    Implementing change initiatives to achieve desired university plans and culture
    Ensuring consistent Christian behavior in line with the university’s vision

    Anticipated Funding Health System Strengthening Lead (HSS Lead)

    Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    Provide technical oversight of integrated health systems strengthening programming and technical assistance activities.
    Lead health systems assessment, identify gaps and develop tailored course correction strategies
    Design and lead activities related to differentiated service delivery systems, including client-centred and community-led/ community-based interventions, provide prevention and treatment services to people at risk for or living with HIV.
    Foster collaborations with county governments to ensure transition to sustainable high-quality HIV service delivery
    Support implementation of HIV prevention and treatment services in an integrated and sustainable model
    Build FBOs’ capacity to effectively manage HIV prevention and treatment services
    Support the development and roll-out of a robust HRH system to effectively and efficiently manage and oversee health workforce
    Support development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive sustainable transition plan for faith -based facilities for uptake by County governments
    Coordinate with implementing faith partners, CDC, MOH, CSOs, and other county, national and international stakeholders.
    Leads training and capacity building for FBOs, staff, partners, healthcare providers, and relevant stakeholders.
    Master’s degree or higher (or significant practical experience) in Public Health, Social and/or Behavioural Sciences or a related field, with specific experience emphasis on Health Systems Strengthening
    Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional experience, with five (5) years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale US government funded HIV Health Systems Strengthening projects in a similar context
    Experience in a leadership/management role for a project of similar size and complexity, including experience with direct supervision of professional staff.
    Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of senior and mid -level public and private sector counterparts, donors, and other key stakeholders.
    Prior experience in building capacity for staff, partners, healthcare providers, and relevant stakeholders in improving health.
    Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain professional relationships and to work collaboratively with host country government counterparts and project stakeholders.
    Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
