    Peace Winds Japan Kenya is seeking a dedicated WASH Assistant to support our sanitation and hygiene initiatives in the Kakuma refugee camps integrated settlement. This role involves collaboration with the WASH team and community leaders to design, implement, and evaluate effective sanitation and hygiene activities aimed at improving community health.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Conduct assessments with hygiene promoters, WASH committees, and community leaders to identify barriers and motivators for promoting key sanitation and hygiene practices.
    Develop and implement social and behavioral change strategies to encourage improved sanitation and hygiene behaviors within the community.
    Collaborate with partners, including UNHCR and local NGOs, to enhance WASH support and resources in the project area.
    Provide technical assistance for the construction and installation of WASH facilities such as latrines, handwashing stations, bathrooms, and refuse pits.
    Coordinate with education department partners to promote School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS) and engage school communities in hygiene initiatives.
    Lead community awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene management, engaging with local leaders and trusted community members.
    Work with sanitation cleaners and market committees to manage waste removal and disposal, ensuring proper management of disposal sites.
    Develop sanitation marketing strategies in collaboration with community-based organizations (CBOs) and private sectors.

    Qualifications:

    At-least 2 years experience in NGO/INGO.
    Relevant degree or diploma in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field.

    Key Responsibilities

    The position focuses on performing genomic DNA extractions, PCR, Southern blotting, qRT-PCR, sequencing, mutation detection, and maintaining bacterial cultures. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and contribute to ongoing research in plant genome editing and trait enhancement.

    Perform genomic DNA extraction from various transgenic and gene edited events of banana, yam or any other crops for molecular analysis.
    Conduct PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and qRT-PCR (quantitative Real-Time PCR) to assess gene expression and mutation verification.
    Perform mutation detection assays, including T7 endonuclease and band-shift analysis.
    Carry out Southern blot analysis for gene copy number determination and transgene integration.
    Sequence analysis for detection and validation of gene edits using techniques such as Sanger or next-generation sequencing.
    Maintain and propagate bacterial cultures for plasmid DNA preparations.
    Prepare media and assist in sub-culturing the plants. Assist in the maintenance of gene-edited plant lines in the lab and greenhouse
    Ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and record-keeping for experimental results – record and analyse data
    Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and manuscripts related to the research findings.
    Collaborate with other team members and provide technical support in molecular techniques.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or a related field with 1 year of experience or Diploma in relevant field with 3 yrs experience
    Relevant professional certification
    Hands-on experience with molecular techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, qRT-PCR, and sequencing.
    Familiarity with Southern blotting and mutation detection assays is a plus.
    Ability to maintain detailed lab records and follow protocols with precision.
    Strong organizational and time management skills.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Diploma or Degree in Nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
    Current and valid nursing license [specify licensing body, e.g., Nursing Council of Kenya].
    Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing or rehabilitation care.
    Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

    Key Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator, you will be responsible for the following:

    Supply Chain Planning

    Responsible for working closely with internal and external partners to make certain that effective planning and preparation are done. This includes;-

    Develop procurement plans for active grants, working together with program Coordinators/Managers and collaborators to support program implementation.
    Ensure program teams develop distribution plan for supplies and assets of closed grants in the warehouses.
    Coordinate with supply chain field staff to ensure that there is sufficient spaces in warehouses before sending program supplies to the field sites.

    Implement the IRC inventory policies with regard to all project items including cycle count, reporting discrepancies, pharmaceutical quality assurance as well as cold chain policies where applicable.
    Develop and ensure material distribution plans and up-to-date and being adhered to.
    Coordinate inventory disposal procedures.
    Placement of the assets maintenance plans as per IRC policies, including repairs and insurance coverage process.
    Conduct Asset Needs Assessment.
    Handle asset and property disposal, and auction management.
    Ensure that grant inventory and asset report is accurate, regularly produced, reviewed, and approved before the Grant closing date.

    Logistics and Fleet Operations

    Develop country specific fleet management policies that are consistent with Country department of transport requirements.
    Dissemination and adherence of the vehicle safety policies by all vehicle users.
    Conduct transport need assessments.
    Develop and supervise fleet movement plans, vehicle repairs, drivers’ assignment, vehicle safety, and fuel consumption.
    Develop vehicle management cost analysis.
    The fleet legal status (customs clearance, registration, licenses, insurance) are up to date.
    Regular issuance, review, and usage of vehicle monthly reports to advise strategic decision-making process.

    Compliance

    Identify, document and timely report any IRC procurement deviations following the mechanism in place for appropriate follow up.

    Ensure the IRC standard pharmaceutical inventory tracking tool is in place and accurately maintained in each location.
    Ensure the implementation of IRC pharmaceutical quality assurance policy, associated SOPs, and procedures for Cold Chain standard process in the warehouse and local transport.
    Ensure adequate drugs management and transportation tool and materials are available for the effective management of drugs.

    Internal and/or external contacts:

    Internal: Regular relationships with regional and country Supply Chain staff at all levels, Deputy Director of Operations and Project Coordinators/Mangers. Actively participate in global and regional supply chain, conferences, and leading sessions as the need arises.

    External: May Serve as IRC Supply Chain representative in outside meetings, other non-governmental organizations, inter-agency groups and foundations.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in purchasing, supplies, and management is required.
    Professional certification in supply chain management and/or emergency response management strongly preferred.
    A CIPS Graduate Diploma will be an added advantage.
    Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies management KISM.
    At least six years’ experience in a busy supply Chain/warehousing context preferably INGO environment.
    Digital literacy (Word, Excel, HF and VHF radios etc).
    Strong ERP roll out and leadership skills.
