    Job Description
    Duties and responsibilities will entail:-

    Overseeing the general administration and management of the Institute;

    Preparing short and long term research programmes within the framework of the national agricultural and livestock research systems;

    Promoting the establishment and strengthening of strategic partnerships and collaborations;
    Coordinating resource mobilization for research;
    Developing effective and efficient planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting framework for programmes and projects;

    Job Specifications
    For appointment to these positions, candidates must have:-

    A PhD in a relevant field from a recognized University;
    Served as a Chief Principal Research Officer or an equivalent position in comparable research organization;
    Six (6) years post qualification experience in relevant field;
    Proven research output with at least eight (8) papers published in the last five (5) years;
    Demonstrate ability to attract research funds;
    Demonstrate success in training and supervising junior research staff
    Undergone a Senior Management Course/Strategic Leadership Development Program or their equivalent from a recognized institution;
    Knowledge on policy formulation and negotiation skills and stakeholder engagement;
    Demonstrated professional competence; and

    The main purpose of the Geography-based IT Manager role is to support the IT Director as a representative for the whole of IT, including the IT Service lines, IT Service Delivery & Global Innovation, with the cluster business teams.
     
    JOB SUMMARY

    Proactively develop a strong relationship with the customers – The business teams in the cluster, and the suppliers, Global IT Innovation, ES IT Service Line Owners and IT Service Delivery.

    Provide full application management service for Legacy and Heritage (L&H) applications as determined by scope of area of responsibility.
    Support the activation of the global innovation programs to support plans in the cluster based on area of responsibility
    Ensure the review and proactive identification of improvements of all existing IT Services within area of responsibility.
    Ensure alignment to IT Compliance and governance framework, and provide appropriate input to and management of IT Costs
    Support to deliver on the Digital Supply Chain Agenda and digital Business processes aligned to Tea Plantation Strategy Plan.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    Be a University Graduate in IT, Computer Science and equivalent Professional qualification

    Proven track record in delivering business application projects to the business and partnering a large equivalent large country/multi-country organization with key interfaces to management and senior management in the organization.

    Job Description

    We are seeking to recruit a qualified, Kenyan citizen to fill the position of a Lead Developer / System Administrator in our ICT Department on permanent and pensionable terms.
    This position reports to the ICT Manager.
    Purpose of the Job: This position reports to ICT Manager and will be responsible for the development and support of all Systems including the ERP and Online Systems.
    The holder requires strong analytical skills and will be responsible for; reviewing, analyzing and occasionally modifying systems including encoding, testing, debugging, installation and support of new and existing application systems.
    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    Development of new applications by analyzing user requirements, constructing workflows & diagrams, studying design capabilities and writing specifications.
    Spearhead the design and development of database structures to meet KETEPA’s business requirements and anticipated technological innovations.
    Devising, developing and implementing disaster recovery procedures for all systems running in KETEPA.
    Planning and executing database IT Security measures, performance monitoring and maintenance procedures.
    Monitoring, managing system bugs and communicating with system vendors on change requests, updates and support requests.
    Documenting and communicating complex software problems that are beyond internal support to relevant software vendors for resolution and patches.
    Investigate and resolve ERP functionality related issues and provide first level support and troubleshooting existing systems.
    Reviewing current manual processes with the view to develop relevant applications or integrating stand-alone systems to the main ERP.
    Ensure databases are always available to users by implementing high availability and disaster recovery options.
    Enhancing existing and developing new ERP reports to aid in critical business decisions and for performance review.
    Analyse data contained in all systems and identify any data integrity issues with existing and proposed systems as well as providing SQL administration to live and test environments.
    Spearhead business intelligence efforts by identifying the correct reporting system to generate effective dashboard reports and alerts.
    Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned by the ICT Manager within the scope of the position.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:
    The job holder must possess;

    Bachelor of Computer Science degree, ICT, Engineering or related fields;
    At least Six (6) years’ experience in a busy IT environment with strong background in programming and systems development.
    Possession of Microsoft Certified Solution developer.Net (MCSD.Net)
    Practical knowledge and programming of Microsoft SQL Databases and Crystal Reports.
    Fully familiar with Microsoft technologies with special emphasis on Web/Internet programming using ASP.net/IIS, Visual BASIC as front-end development tools.
    Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later version as back-end databases.

    Main Job Purpose
    To be responsible for driving and reviewing company field mechanization strategies in Unilever Tea Kenya plantations.
    Job Summary

    Responsible for building and reviewing Mechanical Harvesting (MH) strategy
    Responsible for the availability and serviceability of all harvesting and pruning machinery and equipment.
    Ensure adherence to all relevant Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and continuously review the procedures as necessary.
    Jointly with quality assurance team, link factory and field to match MH quality of raw material to that of made tea to deliver products to Unilever quality specifications
    Lead initiation and implementation of projects linked to mechanization of field operations like tea harvesting and pruning.
    Provide field technology advisory services to agricultural teams in Unilever Tea Kenya.
    Participate in supplier identification, selection process and approval of relevant documents in mechanization.
    Responsible for field technology assets, equipment and spares stock inventory.
    Responsible for monitoring and evaluation of MH key performance indicators and maintenance of good harvesting in the mechanized fields.
    Explore and advise on available latest field technologies in the market which can deliver competitive cost of production and product quality

    Key Requirements

    Undergraduate degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or any other related subject.
    Experience in handling and managing agricultural harvesting technology and equipment’s will be an added advantage.

    MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
