    The Position
    Our Contracting team ensures competitive prices, by establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers to secure the most advantageous contract terms.  The team also builds a stock of suitable product options to enable our business to create itineraries based on customer needs. With the guidance, tools, and materials provided by the Intrepid Global team, you will provide leadership to the team and be responsible for the implementation of procurement and pricing practices within the Intrepid East Africa.  You will ensure Global policies, processes and training are rolled out to deliver the best price and product, and all data and information required by sales and for costings will be accurately maintained within Travel Studio by the team.
     An important part of this role will be to gather feedback and information on our sustainable, experience-rich travel experiences from the locals and source an adequate supply of products for use in customer inquiry and itineraries. This is a full-time permanent position, based out of our office in Nairobi, Kenya and can operate on a hybrid basis for the right candidate.

    A thorough understanding of and passion for Intrepid’s style of travel, including the styles of our different brands
    Knowledge of products, suppliers, destinations and the travel industry in local region
    Experience in procurement processes, contracting, negotiation and product development
    Experience managing staff and leading a team
    Ability to communicate well in written and spoken English
    Undergraduate and graduate degrees would be an advantage

    To be successful as a Leader with Intrepid you will require:

    Tour guiding/management diploma from a recognized institution
    Level 2 Senior First Aid Certificate (must be completed prior to commencement)
    Tour Guide License
    Police Clearance
    Valid Passport for six months
    COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
    Sound leadership skills with the ability to work independently and problem solve

    Deal with emergencies, such as helping a holidaymaker who is ill or those needing to contact family members urgently
    Deliver exceptional customer service: take customer calls, respond to online reviews and client emails, and facilitate refunds/cancellations or payment issues, and general customer support.
    Position may require some social media and website management: reply to reviews and make occasional posts.
    Conduct post-tour evaluations, analyse and report on response.
    Attend conferences/tourism events to maintain familiarity with tourism trends

    We are seeking to recruit an individual who can manage young multicultural clients, troubleshoot issues, help manage the program, and be a result-oriented person for the position of operations intern.

    The intern will undergo a 3-month probation period to understand the program and sharpen their skills in the areas of operations management. If successful at the end of the internship, they will be offered employment.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s Degree in communications, PR, marketing, or a related field. Added advantage if from a tour and travel sector.

    RESPONSIBILITIES  

    Anticipate and plan for upcoming student placements and make the necessary arrangements and recommendations.
    Organize student orientations and hospital orientations with the placement director
    Identify health facilities for medical student placements
    Negotiate with health facility managers and superintendents for EA student placements
    Liaise with the operations manager to ensure adequate living space and accommodation for the students.
    Recommend and supervise any remodeling and installation work at EA residences
    Identify potential suppliers for transportation and other services in consultation with the operations manager.
    Organize community involvement activities that will promote EA CSR efforts for visiting students
    Efficiently manage student itineraries and arrange for timely airport transfers and other local transportation as needed.
    In coordination with the operations manager supervise all support staff and make staffing recommendations as needed.
    Explore and identify new tourism business opportunities and coordinate tourism activities.
    Leads generation and sales.

    Requirements for the Appointment
    For appointment to this Grade, a candidate must have; 

    Advanced degree in the field of tourism or any other tourism-related discipline from a recognized institution.
    At least ten years experience in the relevant field at senior management level. 
    All the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya. 
    Proven leadership qualities, problem solving and negotiation skills, excellent team building and organizational skills
    and evidence of being a strong team player; and

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The Director General shall be responsible for: 

    The day to day management of the affairs of the Authority and shall be answerable to the Board of the Authority in the performance of his functions. 
    Spearhead Formulation of guidelines and prescribe measures for sustainable tourism throughout the country
    Oversee Regulation of tourism activities and services countrywide, in accordance with the national tourism strategy
    Provide strategic Leadership in Registering, licensing and grading of all sustainable tourism and tourist- related activities and services including cottages and private residences engaged in guest house services
    Coordinate Development and implementation, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, criteria for standardization and classification of tourism facilities and services
    Provide Leadership in Developing and regulating, in consultation with the Ministry for the time being responsible for matters relating to education, tourism and hospitality curriculum, examination and certification
    Oversee Development and implementation of code of practice for the tourism sector; 
    Ensure the development and implementation of high quality tourism sector
    Oversee Monitoring and assessment of tourist activities and services to enhance continuous improvement and adherence to sound principles and practices of sustainable tourism
    Coordinate annual assessment and audit of tourism activities and services, measures and initiatives at national level, and prepare and publish an annual national tourism sector status report, in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary and relevant lead agencies
    Provide Leadership to senior management and staff. 
    Prepare the annual budgets and establish proper internal controls 
    Be responsible for the execution and communication of the Boards’ strategies, decision sand policies.
    Perform any other functions that are ancillary to the object and purpose for which the Authority is established

    Making follow-ups for tour quotations

    Solve or assist in solving problems of whatever nature, for the benefit of the client.
    Take ownership of the booking to ensure that customer care of the highest quality is delivered
    Provide management reports as required
    Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

    REQUIREMENTS

    Degree from a recognized institution in Tours and Travel Operations
    Two years experience in a similar position in Tours and Travel
    Good understanding of client customer service requirement
    Excellent communication skills and outstanding attention to detail
    Able to work effectively as part of a team
    Ability to work on own initiative
