    DESCRIPTION

    To provide operational leadership and planning in the development, implementation, and coordination of quality improvement programs, standards and efficient management of resources.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Lead the development, implementation, and coordinate quality improvement programs with a particular focus on systems dealing with patient safety, compliance, productivity, credentialing and privileging, documentation, utilization management, and the integration of business and clinical processes.
    Oversee and maintain accreditation standards (COHSASA) and compliance with local and state regulatory standards.
    Oversee hospital Environment of Care, Infection Control, and Disaster Management Programs.
    Oversee  utilization  of clinical, nonclinical, health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and processes.
    Participate in various standing committees to include but not limited to, the Quality and standards board committee, the Hospital Quality Assurance and quality improvement committee, Infection Control Committee and Utilization Review Committee, County Quality Improvement Committee, Disaster Emergency Management Team, Infection Control Committee, etc.
    Update the organization’s Quality Improvement Plan, and oversee the quality improvement processes that relate to client quality and safety including such processes as incident reporting, medication errors, complaints and grievances, and client satisfaction.
    Develop, share and get approval for annual quality improvement work plan and budgets. 
    Oversee incident reporting, including review of incident, and oversee Adverse Incident Peer Review needing to be completed, Root Cause Analysis(RCA’s) needing to be done (Hospital and non-hospital).
    Work with the hospital auditor to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Eg. Licenses
    Review and update hospital risk register in conjunction with the auditor. 
    Work with ESG consultant to ensure compliance with statutory and accreditation requirements. 
    Review metrics, outcome measures and create quality training curriculum for employees to communicate to the local and regional community.
    Review and update data entry and collection methodologies in order to produce key performance metrics as these pertain to quality and safety, analyzes data, develops reports and recommends necessary actions to improve performance.
    Review technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.
    Assist executive staff in development and maintenance of other policies, procedures and processes.
    Ensure availability of resources for service delivery.
    Oversee efficient utilization of resources.
    Audit compliance with facility and equipment maintenance programs.
    Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor as in line with the job description.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Higher diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Clinical training from a recognized university.
    Active knowledge and experience in Quality and risk standards, , People and Stakeholder management.
    Active application of Information Systems and Health Care Management.
    Excellent skills in excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft 365.  
    More than 2 years and up to 5 years in quality.

    Job Description

    Testing of water, sediments, soil samples, plant tissue and any other matrices which require analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures, techniques, national, international and industry standards or client’s guidelines. 
    Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with the laboratory’s QA/QC system with an emphasis on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ensure cGLP compliance where applicable. 
    Adhere to health and safety measures in regard to general hygiene, sample testing, sample retention, disposal/destruction. 
    Responsible for carrying out chemical and physical analysis on soil, water, sediments and plant tissue. 
    Always employ fit for purpose test methods, standards and techniques and apply them consistently at all times in all the analysis carried out. 
    Responsible for housekeeping in the laboratory and ensuring that work is carried out in a clean and safe environment. 
    To ensure that raw data of analyses carried out clearly supports results obtained prior to subsequent approvals. 
    Keep abreast with all the latest developments of analytical standards related to water and soil science technologies to continuously develop new methods and capabilities for validation and final adoption. 
    Ensure that work records, samples and auxiliary documents are kept properly and organized in such manner as to be easy to retrieve and process. 
    To ensure that process control form is strictly followed and fully completed throughout the analysis process. 
    Be knowledgeable of the scope of all processes under water & soil laboratory. 

    Qualifications

    A Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science & Technology, Applied Chemistry, or equivalent qualification from recognized institution. 
    Two-years laboratory experience in a chemical, soil or water laboratory. 
    Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 9001:2015 and HSE standards. 
    Have a working knowledge of major instruments such as Automatic Distillation Units, Soxhlet, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, Discrete analyzers etc. 
    Have sound knowledge of laboratory work particularly test methods applied in drinking, ground, mineral and waste waters, agricultural & environmental soils, hydroponics drip, drain and source water.

    Influence Externally and Internally and be able to deliver superior results.

    Additional Information

    Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks
    Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

    Coach, mentor, train and develop staff to ensure an effective and motivated team; and
    Supervises and appraises staff.

    Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

    Establishes and implements monitoring programs for raw water quality, drinking water surveillance and pollution control to confirm efficiency and effectiveness in treatment processes.
    Establishes sampling points within the water supply to cover all end points and sewage treatment plants.
    Establishes relevant parameters for testing to assess the quality of the water and effluents from the water and sewage treatment plants respectively.
    Establishes key performance indicators and assign targets.
    Establishes monitoring frequencies based on risk assessment and/or as per requirements by regulatory agencies.
    Identifies resources required and plan for their availability.
    Oversees the inspections of treatment plants and sample collections for analysis are conducted at the designated points.
    Oversees that a water and sewage effluent quality database is maintained.
    Oversees that the quality of effluents from identified trade dischargers are regularly monitored to confirm compliance to prevailing regulatory requirements.
    Provides technical content to the relevant company polices.
    Collect, analyze and interpret data on the performance of Company’s processes and convert it into information for decision making;
    Prepare and delivery written and oral reports, papers and briefings; and prepare and speeches and briefs;
    Prepare proposals and concept papers for Quality Assurance;
    Design, develop, validate and optimize studies for purposes of determining effectiveness and efficiency of company’s processes;
    Compile reports, charts, and tables based on established statistical methods and communicate the information to users;
    Implement the performance management and evaluation tools to ensure that they are effectively utilized by staff;
    Implement quality management systems, risk management strategies and corruption prevention and mitigation strategies in the Company;
    Prepare departmental annual budget, work plans and procurement plans;
    Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on strategy and planning;
    Prepare reports to internal and external stakeholders including development partners and oversight institutions;
    Implement departmental service delivery charter; and

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

    To independently undertake ultrasonography services with precision and accuracy with minimal supervision. To be accountable for own actions and work within codes of Practice and professional guidelines.
    To independently undertake and report diagnostic ultrasound procedures, maintaining a high professional standard of technical competence and ensuring excellent standards of care at all time.
    To take professional responsibility for ensuring compliance always with the appropriate legislation and radiation local rules to ensure that during work, standards of radiation protection are maintained for self, patients, other staff and members of the public.
    To interpret complex data to ascertain and identify any pathological or incidental findings observable, including those with potential cancer, divers or complex presentation / multiple pathologies as appropriate.
    To assess and adapt techniques following assessment for each procedure to meet individual needs of the patient.
    To analyze the clinical information and determine most appropriate x-ray or scanning method, utilizing judgement and skill to incorporate different techniques i.e. transabdominal or intracavitary, or doppler to obtain required information.

    To assist the radiologist in invasive procedures.

    To be able to work using visual display units for long periods of time to enable correct images to be processed and to provide a comprehensive and timely diagnostic report on images obtained to relevant medical personnel.
    To offer appropriate guidance to patients, care givers and other health professionals on ultrasound procedures and issues, while taking due consideration of patients condition.
    To identify and report equipment failures immediately, by liaising with third party equipment support centers to arrange services.
    To use own initiative to re-arrange work lists in the event of equipment failure, organize alternative cover and ensure relevant staff in the hospital are informed particularly if this occurs out of normal working hours.
    To assist in the evaluation and procurement process for any new equipment within the imaging department.
    Be fully conversant of appropriate actions to take in the event of an untoward incident in the area
    To achieve and maintain competence in Ultrasound imaging modalities.
    To flexibly provide cover for unexpected absence to ensure maintenance of service provision
    To ensure compliance with protocols and procedures.
    To maintain a clean working environment, this includes clearing bloody fluids and products of conception in accordance with policy.
    To be continually mindful of using resources in an efficient manner.
    To use safely, and supervise the use of very expensive specialist equipment with care and due diligence.
    Assist in ordering, checking and monitoring of stock, making the manager aware of any concerns as they arise.

    About The Role
    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    Liaising with science teaching staff on their needs for practical work and maintain an efficient system for the use and allocation of materials and equipment, setting a priority system where necessary.
    Advising science teaching staff on technical components of the curriculum.
    Assisting science teaching staff with demonstrations.
    Assisting science teaching staff in instructing students on the use/care of equipment.

    Developing maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment and organize maintenance where required.
    Reporting damages to equipment and arrange repairs.
    Conducting safety audits for the laboratories.
    Evaluating and selecting equipment, and make recommendations for purchase to Science Coordinator.

    About You
    Skills and Qualifications required:

    Diploma or certificate in Science Laboratory Technology in Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized institution.
    You possess 1-3 years of working experience in a recognized secondary school or equivalent institution.
    You are able to prepare students’ practical work up to 8-4-4 level with minimum supervision.
    You are flexible and open to change – you handle uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity well.
    You are a problem solver – you are proactive in identifying issues and address these thoroughly by making effort to find appropriate solutions.
