    Job Description

    Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager and the Clinic lead in charge, the job holder will be responsible for ensuring accurate dispensing, patient counselling and proper handling of pharmaceutical supplies for all orders and to provide effective pharmaceutical services to meet customer needs.

    Responsibilities  

    Receive and process orders delivered to the Pharmacy Department in accordance with procedures and documentation
    Counsel patients on drug administration for optimum customer
    Check expiry dates of all incoming stock and document short-dated
    Dispense drugs accurately and in a timely manner to uphold quality standards of the
    Ensure the accuracy of the label with prescription before dispensing for right patient, right drug and right quantity, for effective service

    Qualifications

    Diploma in Pharmacy,
    Enrolled with Pharmacy & Poisons Board with a current professional practice license. Member of Kenya Pharmaceutical Association
    A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an inpatient/outpatient setting
    Exposure to hospital management systems will be an added advantage
    Read and scrutinize prescriptions appropriately, offering the required guidance as necessary

    Reporting to the Team Leader – Pharmacy, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following amongst others:

    Processing and dispensing prescriptions, treatment sheets and medication orders correctly and accurately.
    Giving accurate drug information to all doctors, nurses, patients and other user departments.
    Following the laid down security and safety systems and procedures in all transactions including not sharing computer log-in and password with other staff.
    Participating in the drug stocking process i.e. stock requisition, reception from stores, prompt shelving and keeping a tight control of pharmacy stock items.
    Following up to conclusion all stock issues requiring attention such as the pricing of drugs, patient credits, replacement of damaged or expired stocks.
    Participating in stock takes and actively take part in stock variance reconciliation.
    Checking the expiry dates of medicines, making sure that the short expiry drugs are tagged and returned back to the store in compliance with the Short Expiry Drug Policy
    Carrying out quarterly medicine storage areas inspection in all theatres, critical care areas and crash carts.
    Participating in the formulation and implementation of hospital policies on drug use, pharmacy standard operating procedures and work instructions.
    Assisting the Senior Pharmacists in the training of new Pharmaceutical Technologists and students who come to the pharmacy unit for their internship.
    Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
    Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
    Possession of valid annual practicing license.
    One (1) years working experience.
    Good communication skills, honest and good interpersonal skills.

    Approve the instructions relating to production operations including in process controls and to ensure their strict implementation.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Diploma in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Technology with over 4 years’ experience or any other related course or BSC Science related with over 3 years’ experience in Industrial Pharmaceutical Production is a requirement.

    Carrying out environmental controls and keeping records.

    Maintaining in a good state, the general laboratory premises, reagents, documents and equipment including the general laboratory cleanliness.
    Validation of production processes, quality control procedures and calibration of equipments and maintenance of their records.

    Qualifications
