    Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Duties:

    Receiving, filling and dispensing drugs and medical supplies as ordered or prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner.
    To compound, package and label pharmaceuticals.
    Making sure that there is no stock out in the pharmacy.
    Advising the doctors about short expiries in the pharmacy.
    Stock control
    Ensuring pharmacy equipment’s are kept in good working condition
    Ensuring regular updates on the various pharmacies registers e.g. DDA,
    Filling/storing prescriptions and maintaining them for the required number of years as guided by law
    Ensuring prompt communication to clients of any therapeutic incompatibilities and potential drug interactions
    Clarification of prescription to patients and notification of any prescription errors to the prescriber
    Updating of drug patient bills
    Generating relevant reports as the basis for the statistical reports on the consumption and balances of stocks in the pharmacy
    Promoting rational drug therapy.
    Offer expertise in the safe use of prescriptions.

    Job Requirements

     Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
    Computer proficient.
    Valid practice license & registered by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board
    2-3years experience in a similar role

    Providing inventory, Sales and Cash collection reports to the management as needed.
    Keeping appropriate patient records and doing follow ups to ensure optimal pharmaceutical care and treatment outcomes and ensuring storage of prescription records
    Performing any other duties as may be required by the management.

    Job Requirements

    A Diploma in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized Institution
    Enrollment Certificate from Kenya’s Pharmacy & Poisons Board
    Valid Practice license (if currently employed)

    Work Experience:

    A minimum of One Year Post Enrollment Experience in a busy Pharmacy.

    Job purpose: Reporting to the In-Charge Pharmacy, the position holder’s job purpose will be to deliver efficient and timely Pharmacy services.
    Job duties and responsibilities:

    Scrutinizes Patient Treatment Sheets and Prescriptions for suitability of prescribed drugs in relation to dosing accuracy, drug interaction and route of administration
    Provide drug information to patients, doctors, nurses and other medical staff.
    Timely and accurate posting dispensed drugs for billing purposes.
    Assist the Pharmacy in-charge in placing orders for stock replenishment to the Pharmacy Store to maintain optimal stock levels 
    Participates in regular drug expiry monitoring in the pharmacy to identify and document items with expiry of less than the required.
    Compounding, re-packaging and dilutions of drugs according to laid down guidelines.
    Counsel patients appropriately to ensure adherence to drug therapy.
    Participate in stock take exercise and ensure timely explanation of stock variances.
    Training and supervising pharmaceutical technologist interns.
    Entering prescriptions orders into the computer and making labels appropriately
    Assist in preparing and sending periodic management reports.
    Document adverse drug reactions on patients.
    Participate in internal and external audits
    Receiving drugs and verifying against the Stock transfer printout
    Shelving of items appropriately
    Performing stock counts and stock movement analysis

    Job specifications:

    Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
    Current and up to date registration with the Pharmaceutical and Poisons Board
    Keen on detail with a high degree of accuracy.
    Ability to interpret prescription accurately.
    Outstanding communication skills
    Counseling skills
    Customer service skills
    Must be a mature practicing Christian

    JOB PURPOSE
    Ensure proper staff and medicine management and compliant with legal and professional regulations, safety, high quality and effective use of medicines.
    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
