    SCOPE OF WORK
    USAID Imarisha Jamii is a USAID Kenya and East Africa funded Activity that aims to increase the use of quality county-led health and social services in Turkana County, Kenya. It is an integrated health and social services program that focuses in areas of HIV; Family Planning, Reproductive, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (FP/RMNCAH); Nutrition; and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program. Reporting to the Health Supply Chain Officer, the Pharmaceutical Technologist is responsible for providing services based in a facility, mentorship, coaching and regular updates to service providers in the area pharmacy. Will be responsible for working closely with the service providers to ensure that the quality of services offered is sustained in the facility as defined by the MOH quality standards.
    Key Responsibilities

     Receive, interpret and processing of prescriptions
     Counseling patients on Medication use and adherence
     Maintain accurately the pharmacy data base keeping it up-to date by daily real-time recording of prescriptions on ADT
     Conduct monthly ART commodities stock take, updating of Bin cards and filling of expiry tracking charts.
     Create pharmacy SOPs and ensure they are well utilized
     Prepare the monthly and quarterly reports for ART patient summary (F-MAPS) and ARVs consumption (F-CDRR)
     Document and report adverse drug interactions
     Use of DHIS and e-SCM for reporting commodities (Malaria, FP and ARVS)
     Use of data for decision making (monthly commodity and service data review)

    EXPERIENCE:

     Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology/Pharmacy from a recognized Medical
    Training College/University with 3-5 years relevant experience.
     Basic training on ART, Commodity Management.
     Experience in mentoring and supervision of other pharmacy staff on inventory management, rational use and quantification.
     The use of the ARV Dispensing tool (ADT) is an added advantage.
     At least 2 years’ experience in providing support for a busy ART program.

    Responsibilities

    Ensure timely purchase and safe storage and supply of pharmacy items in line with quality standards.
    Continually review and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the clinical services in pharmacy and identify improvement opportunities.
    Prepare and submit all monthly, quarterly and annual reports in line with requirements.

    Job Purpose

    To ensure that Cipla SSA operates in compliance with Cipla’s Quality Management System requirements, Regulations in the respective SSA countries, in-country guidelines as well as Good Practice guidance documents pertaining to manufacture, warehousing and distribution of medicines and other health related products.
    To centrally support and perform SSA QA activities for all SSA countries from the Cipla Kenya office with regards to Vendor management (QTA’s, site audits, site approval), QA technical query resolution, audits and general QA support.

    Accountabilities

    Implements and manages Quality Management System (QMS) for Cipla in the SSA territories.
    Manages all Quality related activities with the respective in-country warehouses and distributors.
    Review and escalation of Non-conformances (NC), Deviations and Out of Specification/Trend (OOS/OOT) notifications impacting SSA supply.
    Co-ordination of QA Product Complaints/ Technical Queries
    SSA vendor Management
    Quality Technical Agreement (QTA)
    Audit readiness by ensuring Cipla Kenya’s QMS is compliant to relevant acts and standards including.
    Product Recall by coordinating all recall activities for all SSA countries and acting as SPOC between MAH, distributor and respective Cipla teams.
    Supports Quality Operations Director SS Assists with any reasonable duties as requested by SSA QA management to ensure that the department is functioning optimally and meeting its set objectives and goals. 

    Education Qualification

    Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
    Additional business diploma / degree is an added advantage.
    Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel both at Intermediate level and higher.

    Relevant Work Experience

    At least 3 years’ work experience in a pharmaceutical company or similar background.
    Experience in Quality Assurance is required.
    Experience in performing audits is required.
    Experience in a pharmaceutical wholesale/ warehouse would be beneficial.

    High level of written and verbal communication ability in English.
    High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    Ability to cope under pressure, stress, high volume workload and adhere to strict deadlines.

    Key Responsibilities

    Providing advice about health issues, symptoms, and medications in response to customer inquiries
    Developing workflow; verifying preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
    Tracking inventory and supporting the Pharmacist with ordering and selling medicines and other stock
