    Renewable World is currently recruiting for a Country Manager to lead our small but enthusiastic and dedicated Kenyan Team. This role is a new position to ensure that the recently registered Renewable World Kenyan branch and Kenyan team can successfully work with the Renewable World global team (UK and Nepal) to support programmatic growth, diversification of projects and programmes, development or local partnerships and ensure compliance within Kenyan legislation. The ideal candidate will be a strong manager who has experience of working within an international or national NGO supporting programmatic and partnerships development, but who also has direct experience of working with renewable energy technologies (and ideally within one of the following areas: Livelihoods, Agriculture and/or Health).     Role summary
    RW has been working through local partners in Kenya since 2013 installing 10 microgrids in the Lake Victoria Region and supporting communities to operate Microgrids for household and productive use. To support our commitment to developing and diversifying our programmes in Kenya we have recently registered a branch in
    Kenya with a view to establishing strong projects directly under RW Kenya and using renewable energy as a catalyst to support poverty alleviation.
    This role is a new position to ensure that the branch and Kenyan team can successfully work with the RW global team (UK and Nepal) to support programmatic growth, diversification of projects and programmes, and compliance within Kenyan legislation. The ideal candidate will be a strong manager who has experience of
    working within an international or national NGO supporting programmatic and partnerships development but who also has direct experience of working with renewable energy technologies (and ideally within one of the following areas: Livelihoods, Agriculture and or Health). The successful candidate will be an integral member
    of our global management team and will provide valuable guidance and insight for our global team into programmes and projects development in Kenya.
    We are looking for a highly motivated Country Manager based within Kenya to support us in designing and delivering sustainable and successful renewable energy centred programmes and projects. The primary role will be:

    Working with the Kenya and Global teams to lead on the development, adaptation, and growth of the Kenya programmatic pipeline
    Ensuring communities are at the centre of programmatic design and implementation, and that programmes centre renewable energy technology as a catalyst for poverty alleviation
    Supporting the RW Kenya team to grow and diversify relationships with in-country partners and local and national government to ensure successful programme development, delivery, and sustainability
    Supporting and managing the RW Kenya team through provision of technical, administrative, and managerial support and guidance
    Overseeing regional governance and compliance including the effective management of the RW Kenya branch and direct management of the Kenya team
    Providing programmatic content to RW UK in the development of successful funding propositions This position is currently funded for ONE year with the expectation to be extended upon successful development and initiation of RW delivered programmes in Kenya. This is being advertised as a full-time post, but we would consider 3-4 days per week for the right candidate with a view to the position then moving to full time once programmes and projects are up and running.

    Job Description
    We are looking for a strong manager who has experience of leading projects/ programmes utilising renewable
    energy technologies for community empowerment and poverty alleviation. The ideal candidate will have
    experience supporting programmatic and partnerships development and delivery within an NGO or INGO. Or
    will be someone who has a strong background in project management in renewable energy technology and is
    looking to expand their experience and skills into programmes. Working in a small regional team the ideal
    candidate will have a hands-on attitude whilst RW Kenya look to launch and expand their programmes in
    Kenya.

    Programme Development

    Work with the Global Programmes Director and Global team to support strong and robust programmatic design and delivery that is both sustainable and successful
    Advise on the type(s) of renewable energy technologies (either proven or pilot technologies) to be included within programme design
    Ensure that RW Kenya’s programmes are designed in partnership with local government, (I)NGOs and relevant stakeholders
    Ensure that all RW projects are designed through and adhere to RW’s Community Centred Model and that communities are engaged throughout the project and programme process to ensure sustainability and local ownership
    Support the UK Fundraising team by providing technical and programmatic content for funding bids and proposals
    Work closely with the Kenya team, UK team and new and existing partners to strengthen and build a robust partner network capable of improving the quality and quantity of RW projects and programmes
    Act as the key representative for RW in Kenya and develop a wide range of relationships with stakeholders with the aim to create an active and robust network within (I)NGOs, private sector companies, and local and national government bodies.
    Work collaboratively with the global finance functions and technical staff to ensure programmes are accurately and appropriately costed.

    Project and Programme Delivery

    Ensure that the RW Kenya team have the right resources, tools, and support to deliver projects and programmes to a high standard, as and when funding is secured
    Oversee the programme portfolio and to ensure new programmes meet contractual obligations
    Ensure health and safety is embedded into all projects and programmes and that risk management strategies are in place to protect staff, communities, and partners
    Oversee all RW Kenya projects’ income and finances and deliver regular, transparent, and accurate reports to RW’s Finance team to ensure that finances are spent in alignment with donor and organisational budgets
    Lead the RW Kenya team to deliver all aspects of project delivery including baseline research and planning; activities; Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL); timely and accurate financial and narrative donor reporting; evaluation and auditing; and dissemination of lessons learned
    With support from the global MEAL team, provide clear requirements and guidance to the programme team on the measurement, analysis and reporting internally and externally of RW projects
    Provide guidance and support to the team to implement project activities, hold regular project team meetings to review progress, identify and resolve challenges and course-correct where necessary
    Ensure compliance and quality for all projects to ensure they are delivered on target, on time, on budget and that project tracking mechanisms are utilised to identify and mitigate risk
    Organise periodic project reviews and planning meetings with partner organisations in collaboration with the RW Kenya team
    Monitor progress against Detailed Implementation Plans and Guidance (DIP/DIG), overseeing the correlation between output delivery and project spend.
    Partnership Development
    Facilitate the increased visibility of RW and its work in Kenya with both national and County governments, NGOs, the private sector, and other development agencies in the country
    Support the RW Kenya and Global team to utilise networks to identify relevant partners
    Support the RW Fundraising team to generate income by providing insight into programme funding opportunities in Kenya
    Ensure that relationships with key project and programme stakeholders are managed effectively in line with RW’s partnership management policies and processes
    Work collaboratively with the technical team to strengthen/build capacity of partner organisations and communities to effectively manage and monitor Renewable Energy Technology systems
    Ensure that due diligence and capacity assessments are undertaken and up to date on all RW Kenya partners
    Support the regional and global technical team to manage technical suppliers, partners, policies,
    documentation, and assessment processes
    Support the technical team to negotiate and implement technical contracts
    Support the relevant teams to provide stakeholders and donors with timely and quality reports to enable a successful continuation of donor and partner relationships
    Ensure the Global Programmes Director is kept informed of key partnership and programme outcomes within Kenya.
    Oversight and Management of RW Kenya Branch
    Develop annual business plans in collaboration with the Global Programmes Director and relevant regional team members that are in alignment with RW’s Global strategy and Global Programmes Operational Plan
    Ensure that local administrative, financial, HR, logistics and IT areas function in line with both RW’s global principles and with relevant local laws of Kenya
    Ensure transparent and accurate financial management of the Kenya Branch and work in collaboration with RW Financial team to ensure monthly reporting and financial management of all funding
    Ensure all programmes and operations adhere to Kenyan laws and statutory requirements
    Provide guidance and collaborative management to the Kenyan team ensuring they are supported in their day-to-day work and in their personal development resulting in the successful delivery of all RW Kenya activities, projects, and programmes
    Problem solve as situations arise, in consultation with the Global SMT
    When necessary, and in agreement with the business plan, recruit additional team members to support delivery of RW’s Kenya programmes.

    Skills and Experience:
    Essential:

    Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience
    Degree in Global Development Studies/ Global Development/ Environmental Studies/Renewable
    Energy/ Civil Engineering or other relevant area of study
    Minimum of four years of technical experience working with Renewable Energy Technologies
    Minimum of four years’ experience in programme development
    Proven leadership skills and expertise in planning, implementing, and managing programmes
    Experience developing successful and sustainable renewable energy projects in Kenya
    Previous experience of managing a multidisciplinary team

    Citywise, Sanergy’s advisory services team, leverages Sanergy’s experience delivering full value chain sanitation services to accelerate efforts toward citywide inclusive sanitation. We partner with others to design and implement integrated systems that deliver safe, cost-effective and dignified sanitation. We have a proven track record delivering sanitation services to the poorest, most vulnerable populations in rapidly developing cities, command of technologies and service delivery models for urban sanitation, and a strong network of collaborators around the world.
    Sustainable Water and Sanitation Systems Activity (SWASSA) is a five-year, USAID-funded program in peri-urban areas of the Kivus region of the DRC, led by Mercy Corps. SWASSA’s goal is improved and sustained equitable access to clean water supply and safe sanitation services. Citywise is responsible for leading the iterative design and delivery of cost-effective sanitation service models. We are committed to establishing a foundational understanding of the business landscape, customer preferences, existing infrastructure, and other relevant norms and context, and to developing solutions, iteratively and in partnership with government, stakeholders and communities, to strengthen what exists and fill gaps in order to ensure that all residents have access to safely managed sanitation.
    About the role
    Citywise is looking for a resourceful and ambitious Market-Based Sanitation Program Manager with experience in program management, market-based approaches to sanitation, and collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to build out our work in the DRC. During Year 1 of the project, Citywise conducted an assessment of the sanitation landscape in Goma and Bukavu cities, and identified Bukavu as the most promising site for the piloting and scaling of a sanitation business model designed for the Kivus. You will collaborate with Sanergy colleagues based in Kenya (remotely) and the Mercy Corps team based in Goma to harness the expertise of each, while owning the challenge of ensuring the timely implementation of an ambitious Year 2 work plan. This role requires a self-starter who can work as part of a team and independently, and who is comfortable meeting with government officials, sanitation workers and households alike to pave a way forward for sanitation in Bukavu. You will work closely with and report to the Project Manager (based in the US) who will also actively support this project.
    Duties and Responsibilities

    Establish relationships with SWASSA consortium members, Sanergy operational and support teams, government and other external stakeholders
    Oversee citywide master vision (sanitation assessment) which will include household-based data collection and working with a GIS consultant to map key infrastructure throughout the city
    Recruit and conduct a capacity assessment of potential business model partners, with the purpose of ultimately selecting a partner to receive capacity-building and support for the implementation of the business model
    Analyze assessment results to inform the pilot, including recommendations about which sanitation products and services to offer and the specific location for piloting
    Collaborate with the construction team to identify, procure and build sites to support operations, e.g. consolidation center, treatment facility
    Manage pilot of products and services, and their iterative improvement in partnership with customers

    Qualifications

    5-10 years of work experience, preferable in market-based sanitation approaches
    Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, public health, urban planning, public policy, engineering, etc.) or comparable experience
    Strong skills in written and verbal communication, customer-service orientation
    Successful track record leading day-to-day field operations in a context in which unofficial and/or changing conditions must be navigated (e.g., informal settlement, peri-urban area)

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    Case work and management

    Facilitate individual case management for sexual and gender minority clients.

    Conduct case assessments of LGBTIQ refugees and keep track of socio-environmental risks faced by sexual and gender minority refugees;

The social worker will be required to conduct assessments, case management and referral including follow up to ensure survivors receive appropriate services.
    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    Case work and management:

    Identify and provide post GBV services to women and girls who are survivors of sexual and gender-based violence or any other form of trauma as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.**
    Identify refugee women and girls in need of social support such as financial assistance, medical assistance, and legal protection. Carry out social assessments and keep track of socio-environmental risks faced by refugee women and girls to ensure timely mitigation of risks.
    · Identify refugee women and girls who require psychosocial referred from the hotline and community and any another support and link them with the counsellors for timely support.
    Review all social and psychological assessments reports generated and link to the MHPSS department for further support
    Conduct one on one remote interviews with refugee women and girls to understand the prevalence of existing and emerging issues affecting them during COVID-19
    Implement a safe and remote reporting mechanism, which allows women and girls to report GBV incidences through WhatsApp messaging allowing access to critical support without risking personal safety
    In collaboration with community outreach workers conduct regular assessments of the needs and progress of the refugee women and girls.
    In collaboration with the GBV team, conduct training to HIAS staff on safety and capacity to respond to GBV incidences during COVID -19 pandemic.
    Participate in remote GBV response, outreach and community dialogue activities to enhance community response and prevention of violence against women and girls.
    Conduct referrals of vulnerable refugee women and girls to partner agencies and follow up with clients to facilitate access to external services.
    Monitor GBV trends through data collected from Hotline, and prepare summaries for presentation in psychosocial panel, effect subsequent panel decisions.
    Prepare a monthly analysis on GBV key issues based on case trends to disseminate information on available services and referral pathways.
    Open files for clients and ensure that case management is in line with HIAS SOPs and other sector standards.

    Community outreach and community activities

    Assess, identify, and analyze community sensitive intervention geared towards building resilience and self-reliance among Refugee women and girls.

    Qualification Required

    The applicant should have either a University Degree in Social Work, Community Development or Gender and Development Studies

    HIAS Kenya seeks to recruit 20 peer educators to enhance access to health services for the sexual and gender minority (LGBTQI+) refugee and asylum seeker community from the different nationalities so as to reduce incidences of STI/HIV infections. The peer educators will work with 10 existing community-based organizations (CBOs) and be drawn from in, and around, the areas that the 3 HIAS site offices/its outreach areas are located, including Isinya, Rongai, Matasia, Kasarani, Gikambura, Njiru, Kawangware, Mwiki, Eastleigh etc.
    Key responsibilities:

    · Assist in the mobilization of community members for health talks, trainings and community-based discussions on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)
    · Participate in relevant trainings relating to STI/HIV access and care as guided by HIAS
    · Support in collection of accurate data and dissemination of information to the sexual and gender minority community as guided by HIAS
    · Monitor and document protection concerns related to access to STI/HIV health services within the sexual and gender minority refugee community and report findings in meetings with designated HIAS staff
    · Facilitate access to, and referrals for, appropriate medical/health services for the sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers that is inclusive of counselling, HIV testing and administration of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
    · Assist in creating and establishing sustainable community networks with sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers within the urban area
    · Create and support with the collaborative opportunities that sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers can benefit from
    · Link the sexual and gender minority refugee and asylum seeker community to community-based psychosocial support from designated CBOs
    Required conditions for application (skills and competencies):
    · Must be part of the sexual and gender minority community.
    · Must not be in leadership or management, including the boards, in any refugee-led CBO
    · Must have basic literacy and numeracy skills.
    · Should be well integrated to the dynamics, needs and challenges of members of the sexual and gender minority community.
    · Ability to work with members of the community with little or no supervision.
    · Good/basic working knowledge and experience of navigating STI/HIV care services.
    · Demonstrated experience on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
    · Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    · Basic computer literacy.
    · Strong training skills in community development and working with refugees.
    · Data collection and knowledge management skills will be an added advantage.

    Experience:
    No less than three months’ work experience, preferably with an NGO. Experience in the field of refugee protection and assistance to sexual and gender minorities from the refugee community is an added advantage.
    Language:

    Proficiency in English or Kiswahili and either, Luganda, Kinyamulenge, French, Somali, Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromo and Kinyarwanda or any other major language spoken within the refugee community.

    HIAS uses a survivor-centered, community-based approach. Our programs consider the voices and needs of survivors and prioritize their leadership in program design and implementation. HIAS works with communities’ natural systems to optimize support for survivors, building partnerships to promote and protect the rights of survivors, women, girls, sexual and gender minorities. This approach enables HIAS to meet the safety, psychosocial, economic, and justice needs of survivors; facilitate their access to appropriate care; and empower communities to lead efforts that challenge beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that perpetuate or condone violence against women, girls, sexual and gender minorities in the community.
    HIAS seeks to recruit a GBV caseworker who will support the UNTF COVID-19 project that focuses on strengthening HIAS’ EVAW/G (Ending Violence Against Refugee Women and Girls) response to new and more pronounced challenges faced by refugee women and girls as a result of the pandemic through contributing to the timely and quality implementation of GBV related activities and GBV case management for the urban refugee community during the COVID-19 Pandemic that has led in increase of GBV incidences.
    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    · Receive calls from the UNHCR toll free call center and initiate action of case management and response to GBV survivors identified through hotline.
    · Provide tele-assessments and refer cases to relevant partners to ensure a multi-sectoral approach in handling survivors of GBV.
    · Conduct case assessments in coordination with other HIAS staff and keep track of socio-environmental risks faced by women and girls GBV survivors.
    · Strengthening existing community networks in responding to GBV incidents during COVID-19.
    · Process referrals for social workers support services for GBV survivors to other agencies.
    · Conduct timely follow up on referrals and support services provided to GBV survivors, ensuring that the survivors receive the assistance recommended.
    · Work with stakeholders to strengthen referral networks and monitor the implementation of the referral pathway and survivors’ access to confidential, safe GBV services in a timely manner
    · Implement and monitor merit based social and financial assistance informed by vulnerability assessments for individual cases in accordance with HIAS’ Standard Operating Procedures
    · Collect and input GBV data into the Gender Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS)
    · Evaluate beneficiaries’ progress and work on an exit strategy aimed at supporting client’s self-reliance
    · Open files for clients and ensure that case management is in line with HIAS SOPs and other sector standards
    · Support in distribution of dignity kits and PPEs to identified vulnerable refugees
    · Conduct assessments and support in provision of transport facilitation of GBV survivor to access post-GBV services
    · Laisse with community outreach workers to strengthen referrals and support in responding to GBV cases among refugee women and girls
    · Contribute to the development of project proposals, concept notes and sector publications
    · Perform other duties as and when required

    Required Qualifications
    · Applicant should either have bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Community Development Studies and/or other related fields of study
    Desirable Experiences

    · Minimum of 1-2 years’ previous job experience related to GBV response.
    · MUST have in-depth knowledge on GBV and responding and EVAW/G in emergency settings
    · Demonstrated experience working directly with refugees who are survivors of GBV
    · MUST have a demonstrated understanding of a survivor-centered approach.
    · MUST have experience with operationalizing GBV principles, knowledge of international humanitarian standards for GBV prevention and response.
    · Experience working with GBVIMS preferred (Gender Based Violence Information Management System)

    THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (EDO)
    The Foundation is looking to fill the position of Entrepreneurship Development Officer (EDO), to spearhead our economic justice and inclusion (EJ&I) initiatives. The EDO will design and implement training programmes, business development support and deliver start-up packages for selected base-level entrepreneurs. The officer will also be responsible for ensuring the effective planning, implementation, review and monitoring of these interventions. 
    Specific tasks and responsibilities

    Lead the design and planning of SGM entrepreneurship and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) development and support programmes.

    Lead the design of the overall training programmes for both aspiring and existing SGM entrepreneurs.

    Skills and experience:

    A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a business-related discipline.
    A minimum of five years’ experience in entrepreneurship/MSME development.
    Hands-on experience in training needs identification, design of training programmes and tools, and training delivery.
    Experience working in one or more of the following areas is an asset: business skills training, business incubation hubs, business development services.
    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
    Excellent computer skills.
    Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

The job holder will coordinate the development and implementation of National Livestock Master Plans, spearheads innovations in ex ante impact assessment methods, mobilizes resources for large strategic institute initiatives, and liaises with national and international partners to advance research on the contributions of livestock to economic development and livelihoods.
    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and coordinate the development, resourcing, and implementation of National Livestock Master Plans with national and international partners, liaising with stakeholders and donors to produce high-quality outputs that support investment options in the livestock sector;
    Lead the conceptual development and resource mobilization efforts of innovative analytical frameworks and methodological tools to study the performance of and develop options for livestock product markets, value chains, and trade regimes, as well as regulatory and investment policy for livestock development;
    Contribute to the livestock global foresight analysis program, linking to foresight work with CGIAR partners, and other organizations on methodological developments  and participating in global forums and compendia of foresight research;
    Collaborate with other colleagues to integrate various disciplines and cross-cutting issues (e.g. gender equity, environmental sustainability) into the modelling and foresight work;
    Lead a geographically dispersed international team of economists, and modelers addressing a range of dimensions of research on livestock policies and investments
    Build collaborations with relevant institutions and organizations internationally and nationally
    Represent ILRI in key international fora on livestock policy, value chains, trade, and modelling, and raise awareness of the importance of livestock value chain development and policy.

    Requirements

    A relevant PhD qualification involving applied empirical modelling of natural systems, including agricultural/livestock economics, system dynamics, or geography, with a minimum of 10 years of experience post-PhD;
    A proven research record reflecting experience in research design, quantitative and qualitative analytic methods and producing peer-reviewed outputs;
    Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team of researchers and development practitioners, and in the associated human resource and financial management;
    Strong econometric and/or mathematical modeling skills, and the ability to apply them in pro-poor development research; 
    Demonstrated ability to deliver multi-disciplinary research outputs and to initiate and manage cross-disciplinary research activities;
    Familiarity with aspects of livestock production and marketing, crop-livestock systems, and rural market institutions and services in developing countries;
    Strong English language skills, both written and spoken (proficiency in other languages is an advantage);

    Coordinate with the Research Unit to support M&E data collection and analysis, and to promote learning and uptake such as at semi-annual RISA workshops
    Provide day-to-day oversight of downstream projects, review work plans and milestone progress monthly, and escalate risks and issues to relevant members of the team as required
    Lead quarterly ‘report cards’ with each partner for SMT review and identify where recipients are struggling to manage activities or funds appropriately

    Qualifications:

    Bachelors’ degree in a social science, health, international development, technology or a related discipline is required. Master’s degree is preferred
    Minimum of eight years of professional experience in the field of research, innovation or development
    Proven experience and extensive knowledge of local country context related to innovation and research systems
    Strong ability to collaborate and build partnerships with host country governments, UK government agencies, donor agencies, international organizations, and the private sector
    Track record in working with both Research and Innovation groups/hubs at the national level, including fostering interaction between researchers and other stakeholders in order to promote take up
    Demonstrated experience with programme management and financial planning, including project design and developing technical scopes of work (ideally for FCDO), and monitoring and evaluation tools
