    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Engage with Field Offices, Support Offices and Global Centre, working with leaders, teams and individual contributors to provide mentoring, guidance, coaching, consulting and training in the area of Continuous Improvement.
    A lot of this engagement will take place within the scope of the specific Continuous Improvement programs we offer, or specific Kaizen Event session.
    Manage, improve and expand the day-to-day services linked to the certification programs that we have in place. This includes White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt programs. Manage and improve the end-to-end processes linked to these programs (admission to certification).
    Finding better and more creative ways to sustain and expand our services. A good example could be exploring opportunities to bring volunteers to help us mentor some of the Yellow Belt candidate
    Create and develop the right reporting systems to measure and track the progress and effectiveness of the Continuous Improvement efforts and the progress made in the development of the capacities associated with Continuous Improvement across the Partnership.
    Ensure that the information we report is accurate and continue to track and report this information on ongoing basis
    Manage, sustain, improve and expand the Continuous Improvement knowledge infrastructure available through multiple channels such as team sites, eCampus training content, wvcentral, etc., to ensure that the use of the tools, content, training courses, etc. is maximized by various users across the partnership.
    Posting on some of those platforms, valuable information and increase the engagement of the members of those sites
    Project manage programs designed to foster a culture of Continuous Improvement to increase awareness and to help individuals and leaders develop and strengthened the organization core competencies for staff and leaders, e.g., agile organization and improve and innovate. 
    To facilitate Virtual Kaizen session with cross functional teams to help them better understand and apply the C.I. tools and resources available

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Experience with the application of Continuous Improvement tool in the context of a Christian Non-Profit organization
    Deep appreciation for strategic operations in complexity and proven track record in developing approaches that simplify and streamline business processes.
    Identifies and analyses situations and/or issues, considers options, develops and decides on solutions, recommends and/or implements and monitors appropriate solutions.
    Experience designing, and implementing effective learning resources (training, learning tools, learning programs, etc.)
    Experience Training, facilitating, teaching, coaching and mentoring others in the use and application of Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma) in a global setting both virtually or face to face.
    Knowledgeable and comfortable with the use of technology. Reporting platforms, web applications, power bi, share point, media, learning platforms, virtual tools, zoom, teams, etc.
    Written Communication: Expresses ideas, thoughts, and concepts clearly and effectively in writing, using correct and appropriate grammar, organization and structure.
    Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, international development, engineering or related field. Proven record of the application of Continuous Improvement, principles, tools and methods (Lean Six Sigma), demonstrated by the implementation of Lean Six Sigma projects (DMAIC).
    Minimum certified Green Belt (ideally, certified Black Belt, or able to attain certification within a few months.)

    Preferred:

    Experience mentoring, teaching, facilitating and mentoring others in the use and application of Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma). Face to face and virtual settings.
    Preferred master degree in Education, MBA, Technology or other related fields.
    Agile methodologies.

    We are currently seeking for a transformational leader to be our Country Director in Kenya. Specifically, we are seeking an energetic change maker, and a visionary with robust programmatic experience. This Country Director position will be for 24 months and is aiming to be focused on developing and executing a country growth strategy that will ensure relevance and impact of Action Against Hunger in Kenya.

    Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
    This role can be based at an established Mercy Corps office location in Europe (Edinburgh, London or The Hague), Africa or the Middle East.     Accountabilities and MAIN WORK ACTIVITIES 
    Strategy design, planning, and implementation – 35%

    Take leadership in defining the Child Rights and Safeguarding strategy for PIK and provide guidance in the development of an implementation strategy. 
    Deliver a policy and advocacy strategy that increases Plan Kenya’s advocacy impact on protection and ending all forms of violence against children with the Kenya government and other external stakeholders where necessary;
    Advocate and negotiate with high-level technical experts and government officials, parliamentarians, and CSOs;
    Conduct policy analysis to inform advocacy issues and establish and maintenance of dialogue with key decision-makers within government.
    Provide technical expertise in key thematic areas, including but not limited to the VAC Plan of Action for Kenya and other pertinent issues in the child protection sector

    Drive technical excellence and support project and country teams to develop, monitor, and implement girl and client-centered rights programs that are grounded in global evidence, appropriate and meaningful youth engagement;
    Provide oversight and technical guidance in monitoring and harnessing learning from implementing rights projects across the programme areas.
    Drive country office staff capacity in child and girls’ rights programming by providing in-country assistance to build the capacity of teams as well as program and government partners, while keeping abreast of global and emerging evidence and with a view to disseminating both internally and externally;
    Ensure PIK rights programme is aligned to both Global and Regional priorities and the national government policies and sector plans
    Provide technical assistance to support quality design, implementation, monitoring, learning, and evaluation of ASRH programs, including efforts on very young adolescents, strengthening demand and supply of SRHR and age-appropriate services.
    In close collaboration with the M&E team keep track of the achievement of the intended outcomes.
    Strengthen the capacity of program implementation teams to develop and implement innovative rights programme;
    In close consultation with Program Unit managers, provides timely reports, as may be required on the Plan Kenya’s girls and child rights program portfolio, including updates on program/project challenges and successes.
    Provide technical support and guidance to program teams in all related assessments, surveys and studies on safeguarding.
    Review and provide technical input on internal and external reports on safeguarding children and young persons.
    Continually advise the program teams to ensure Child Protection programming is in line with Plan, government, and other relevant recognized safeguarding standards, guidelines, and quality procedures.
    Work with program teams to provide evidence of safeguarding interventions and best practices through documentation and dissemination of lessons learned.

    Partnerships, networking, and influencing 10%

    Actively participates in safeguarding eco-systems with the global hub and regional teams as well as within Kenya’s community of practice;
    Collaborate with Business development Unit in developing projects that address the safeguarding of children and young person’s concerns in society.
    Ensure adequate budgeting and resourcing for capacity development and monitoring of the implementation of the policy among staff, partners, and associates through grants and sponsorship funding.
    Participate actively in programme meetings, planning, and review activities, providing enhanced insight into child rights programming.
    Actively participate in key relevant internal meetings such as Programme Review Meetings, Advocacy, and Communications, or area-based meetings as required. 
    Participate in any donor visit to project(s) within the country office portfolio, as required.

    Contribute to the growth of Plan Kenya’s child rights portfolio by directly contributing to Plan Kenya’s identification of opportunities, proposal development, including the writing, reviewing, and/or editing of technical proposals.
     Continuously monitor and analyze the emerging SRHR situation in Kenya, donor trends and advise management on potential areas for fundraising.
    Provide technical input to inform concepts and proposal development on Child Rights programming.
    Advice on the partnership networks for overall enhancement of the SRHR programmes and impact at the different levels of engagement (County, National, and Global).

    Coordinate and support programme quality and delivery on Child Rights projects audits and adequate application of management response across all impact areas.

    Strengthen the capacity of health program staff and partners on current and effective Health interventions, methodologies, policies, and guidelines.
    Identify and advise on learning opportunities for staff development.

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Monitoring & Evaluation:

    Lead in the development of tools and guidelines for data collection, collation and reporting, ensuring that the project has clear MEAL plans, Indicator Performance Tracking Table (IPTT) as well as regular tracking of total beneficiary reach.
    Maintain a program database and ensure that the databases are up-to-date. S/he will contribute to program design by ensuring accurate and up to date MEAL plans, – reviewing log-frames, results frameworks, project plans per project site including supporting teams to include an element of quality monitoring
    S/he will be responsible for ensuring that programme teams have the best project data collection and entry tools to maximise quality and effectiveness of data. Seek solutions for more complex data management requirements by working with IT colleagues.
    S/he will be responsible to ensure that timely and accurate data are collected and analysed including analysis against the performance indicators and targets on periodic basis to inform the programme management.
    Manage information generated through MEAL activities, such as feedback and response mechanism databases, Quality Action Tracker and Quality Benchmarks dashboards.g, implementation and follow-up of evaluations, including preparation of Terms of References, preparing literature review packs, planning evaluator itineraries, planning staff workshops, report review and participate in evaluations where required. 
    S/he will regularly update the mapping and dashboards of program locations, activities, available MEAL systems across the Watoto Rudi Shule Project.
    Organize field visits to monitor program activities / interventions against Quality Benchmarks/Quality Checklists and produce & share reports with program team as well as management team based on quality and accountability findings. 
    Support program staff to strengthen joint planning and monitoring with stakeholders. 
    Lead in conducting data quality assessment to ensure that data reported is validated, is accurate and consistent while providing feedback as necessary to program teams.
    To assist in planning and implementation of baseline surveys, monitoring and evaluation exercises and impact assessments when needed; 
    Support program teams in developing quality program reports
    Produce and share MEAL monthly and cumulative yearly annual reports with the MEAL Coordinator and project lead as well as program teams.

    Accountability and Learning:

    Ensure that the agreed action plans are followed in timely manner by program team and that the feedback loop is closed. 
    S/he will support the implementing partners to ensure the appropriateness, quality and effectiveness of accountability systems across the Watotot Rudi Shule project in the two project sites.
    Regularly collect data on and analyse the Feedback and Response Mechanism (FRM) accountability data ensuring complete feedback loop and quality improvement. 
    Share all MEAL related information and reports (monitoring reports, CFM databases, preliminary verification reports, case studies etc.) with the support of MEAL Coordinator.
    Share MEAL best practices, FRM analyses in Monthly MEAL reports. 
    Conduct training and awareness raising activities for operations and programme technical staff at country-office level regarding MEAL priorities and quality standards.  
    Build capacity of staff through training to ensure adoption of new data monitoring tools and quality of data collected.
    With support from the Head of MEAL and MEAL coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, assist in advocacy activities that target decision-makers in country. 
    Supported by SCI Research and Learning Manager champion knowledge management (KM) through the development and use of platforms that store and display evidence and learning that is made accessible and actively used between projects, counties and countries.  
    Working with project team and partners, systematically identify, document, share and use learning from project implementation in order to continuously adapt and improve our programming. This includes learning agendas, learning workshops and after action review, action planning and tracking of learning uptake.

    Overall purpose of the role:
