    Purpose of the consultancy
    A draft version of the CoP intervention manual has been developed and shared with key stakeholders in Nairobi.
    We would like to include additional content that addresses issues of disability in the content and delivery.
    The purpose of this consultancy is to develop content for inclusion within the manual on childhood disability (both physical and learning disabilities) and how it relates to each of the modules within the manual.
    Specific requirements of the consultancy
    To develop content on child disability as it relates to the following modules within the manual:

    Learning through play
    Child protection, child abuse, positive discipline and child safety
    Health, WASH and Nutrition

    The content needs to match the level of detail and style as other training materials within the manual and be of an appropriate level for training community health volunteers and centre providers.
    The material on disability will be included within the training manual.
    Confidentiality of information
    APHRC expects that the content of the manual should not be shared or reproduced in part or in whole.
    Required qualifications

    A professional in the field of disability with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education or related field.
    Proven work experience in early childhood development or early childhood education.
    Experience working with external stakeholders such as counties and sub-counties.
    Availability to work on the assignment for the period of the assignment.

    Deliverable

    An edited manual with content on disability described above included in the three modules.

    Consultancy period

    The performance period for this scope of work is five (5) working days.
    The final deliverable and report is subject to review and authorization by APHRC’s Community of Practice Principal Investigator.

    Sports for Protection Curriculum Development and Training

    Purpose
    The overall purpose of the Sports for Protection Project is on strengthening social inclusion, cohesion and psychosocial well-being of young people through sport related platforms. The project will broaden participation of adolescent girls, young women and boys in sports activities through engagement with community leaders and parents, training of coaches and other duty bearers, and psychosocial and life skills support to the youth.
    Through this activity of curriculum development and training the aim will be to increase the awareness and knowledge of prevention of GBV and to build capacity to ensure that AGYW and boys at risk of GBV are provided with psychosocial support.
    Key Responsibilities
    Scope of consultancy
    DRC GBV unit in Kakuma intends to carry out a curriculum development, adaptation and training of refugee and host community stakeholders aimed at ensuring increased awareness on GBV in sports and to improve the psychosocial support available to GBV survivors and AGYW and boys at risk of GBV.
    Key tasks of the consultancy.
    The consultant is expected to;

    Collect information from the team through meetings, FGDs and Key Informant interviews in order to establish objectives and expectations of the activity – the purpose of the curriculum, target population, the context and details of the curriculum.
    Study and comprehend the Sports for Protection toolkit that will form the basis of the curriculum.
    Develop the curriculum with two modules: the risk of GBV in sports and Psychosocial Support in Sports for Protection.
    Facilitate validation and training meetings in Lodwar, Kakuma and Lokichogio with participants from the sport fraternity (coaches, youth engaged in sports, agency staff working with youth in sports and mental health and psychosocial support) on the curriculum developed to ensure that it is suitable for the Kakuma and Kalobeyei context.

    Methodology
    The consultant will employ the use of the following methodologies while developing the curriculum.

    Conducting literature and practical research on the appropriate plussport interventions to use in the prevention of GBV, offering psychosocial support to AGYW and ABYM.
    Production of a curriculum with the two modules: GBV risk in sports and Psychosocial Support in Sports for Protection and relevant topics within the two modules in simple language and illustrations appropriate for coaches, AGYW and ABYM for whom the curriculum is to be used.
    Frequent consultation with DRC on the progress of the curriculum development for review.

    Key deliverables/outputs
    The consultant is expected to:

    Develop a complete curriculum with the 2 parts: Risk of GBV in Sports and Psychosocial Support in Sports for Protection. Each of these sections will be further divided into two: for ToTs and AGYW and ABYM Trainers.
    Present the drafts of the curriculum to DRC for review.
    Facilitate 2 curriculum validation meetings in Lokichoggio with 30 participants (coaches, youth and staff involved in sports and psychosocial support).
    Facilitate 2 staff trainings of the complete curriculum in Lodwar with 30 participants.
    Present the complete curriculum to DRC with the layout ready for publishing.

    DRC’s responsibilities

    DRC will give remuneration in lumpsum for the consultancy which will include the curriculum development and the consultant’s training materials, accommodation and meals.

    Reporting Arrangements

    The consultant will report to the DRC Programme Development and Quality Manager and GBV Team Leader for the activity.

    DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT

    The consultancy period shall be for 28 days. The complete curriculum must be submitted to DRC within 10 working days after the validation exercise.

    EXPECTED PROFILE OF CONSULTANT
    The consultant must have:

    Advanced degree in gender studies and counseling from a recognized institution and must certified counselling supervision by Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors (KAPC).
    Over 5 years experience in GBV Prevention and Response, counseling, training and supervision.
    Experience of working with refugees, conflict and post-conflict communities is an added advantage.

    Job Requirements

    Education: 

    Master’s/post-graduate degree in public health, social work, humanities or other relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

    Work Experience: 

    A minimum of 6-8 years GBV program management experience is required, preferably within a humanitarian or international development setting. Experience in technical tools and materials development, monitoring and evaluation, and research in relation to education is highly desired. Experience in strategy development and working across sectors or disciplines is highly desired.

    Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: 

    Demonstrated ability to turn concepts and strategy into measurable action, and experience leading on program design, monitoring and evaluation. Must have strong and effective communications skills, and the ability to present a broad array of information to inform and influence diverse audiences in multi-cultural environments. Demonstrate commitment and capacity to renew and maintain standards with best practices in the field.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Create awareness and offer knowledge on HIV and provide education about HIV testing services.
    Lead in the mobilization of clients for HIV testing.
    Provides pre and post-test HIV counseling to all patients willing to have the HIV test done ensuring clients understand prevention methods and other relevant issues.
    Provide confidential HIV testing to clients as per the national HTS guidelines.
    Encourages and supports patients that test positive; helping them to cope with the new diagnosis. 
    Provide ongoing counseling and make relevant referrals for ongoing support.

    Identify facility-specific strategies to meet agreed on facility targets.

    Scope of the assignment
    The work of the implementing partner will include the following:

    Co-design the concept for a BAP with the ILO: The implementing partner will work closely with the ILO and a steering committee to consolidate a concept and work plan for the BAP and ensure that it is context-specific. The ILO has initial drafts of a concept and work plan, and the implementing partner will review this draft, propose changes if needed, and use the work plan as a joint working document throughout the implementation of the BPC. In the design of the BAP, the implementing partner should ensure that the focus remains on both refugees and host communities.
    Establish partnerships with key actors: The implementing partner will work with the ILO to establish partnerships with key actors, including development partners, financial and business development service providers, key sectoral associations, and government representatives. The role of partner will be to support with logistics for the BAP, provide trainings to entrepreneurs, promote the BAP, manage the BAP funds, provide additional resources to ensure continuity of the project and asses interested businesses across the different categories. While the ILO has a list of potential partners, it is expected that the implementing partner is also able to mobilize partner networks effectively.
    Co-develop selection criteria and judging criteria: The implementing partner will support in establishing selection criteria and judging criteria for the BAP, together with the ILO and the steering committee. The selection criteria should prioritize job creation and job quality improvements, productivity gains, potential for business growth and innovative solutions. At this stage, the support to be provided both financial and non-financial will be confirmed.
    Promote the BAP, establish application process and shortlist participants: The implementing partner will launch communications and sensitization around the BAP to allow ample time for participants to apply. The Implementing partner will coordinate application processes from entrepreneurs, and then short-list participants based on the agreed-upon criteria. The application process should be simple and accessible to refugees and members of host communities. Applicants should be able to enter their submissions through a variety of channels that may include applying in-person, by phone, through an email account set up by the project, or through a partner organizations providing financial and non-financial services. Standard registration forms based on the SYB Business Plan Booklet or the GET Ahead Participant’s Workbook will be developed to standardize the process and ensure that applications are in a format that entrepreneurs are familiar with.
    Collaborate with ILO to support entrepreneurs: The implementing partner will coordinate the provision of support to entrepreneurs as they get ready to pitch their business ideas or ongoing businesses. This will include facilitating access to financial education and entrepreneurship and cooperative management trainings using the ILO’s trainer networks and tools, either through the Implementing Partner directly, or by establishing collaborations and contracts with service providers and trainers.
    Conduct due diligence: The Implementing Partner will conduct due diligence to ensure viability of participating businesses in collaboration with the steering committee.
    Disburse funds: The Implementing Partner will coordinate and oversee the disbursement of funds to participants of the BAP, as agreed upon with the steering committee and the ILO.
    Provide ongoing technical support and conduct M&E: The Implementing Partner will continue to facilitate access to needed business development and financial services, including through the provision of coaching and other forms of post-training support. The Implementing Partner will also conduct monitoring and evaluation, collecting information on business growth and impact in terms of jobs created and/or improved as a result of the interventions and collect lessons learned and success stories, in close collaboration with the ILO.

    ROLE PURPOSE: 
    Humanitarian response represents roughly half of Save the Children International’s global portfolio. Typically Save responds to circa 100 global humanitarian crises each year. Building our humanitarian affairs, influencing and policy capability is at the core of our strategy to achieve immediate and lasting change for the most deprived children.
    This role will deploy to humanitarian response teams to develop and implement humanitarian advocacy strategies working in close coordination with Advocacy, Communications and Media team in the Country Office, Regional Office and the Humanitarian Advocacy Working Group. This role is a member of the Humanitarian Surge Team and will deploy to country offices for approximately 60% of time. The remaining 40% of time will be allocated to research, policy development and contribution to capacity strengthening initiatives to support the continuous improvement of humanitarian advocacy.
    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Higher level education degree, Masters or above, in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, International Relations, Peace building, or Security Studies)

    Support the ending violence against children and women CFA and harmful practices (child marriage and FGM)

    Conduct/update situation analysis on violence against children and women in times of the COVID-19 pandemic to inform the regional framework on ending violence against children and women. The regional framework will provide an outline to all the engaged country offices in the region in strengthening child protection systems for the prevention and response to violence against children and women. Furthermore, provide support to the team and/or COs on building a regional research agenda on VAC for the current SP period, identification of evidence gaps and lessons learned, including those linked to the social and behavior change programming
    Review and report on development trends and (economic, social, health etc.) data for use in ending Harmful Practices (HP) and VAC programme management, monitoring, evaluation and delivery of results, and prepare required program documentations/materials/data to facilitate the ending violence against children and HP progress review processes.
    Maintenance of simple results database or data visualizations (SMQ/RAM data) on ESAR’s regional results, support in establishing the baseline and targets for the CFA in ESAR, in collaboration with Cos, and transition to the CSI platform based on the existing work done in the region.
    Develop regular country and/or regional briefs on VAC and HP, showcasing results and covering different topics each month
    Contribute towards regular updates of the Regional Framework on ending violence against children and women and HP including the evidence on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and relevant climate change affecting the protection of boys, girls and women in in the Region.

    Management, monitoring and delivery of results.
    Attend Regional Office meetings as guided by the Child Protection Specialist.  Establish a virtual regional community of practice platform for the country offices to learn from each other and share knowledge on ending violence against girls, boys and women in line with the CFA and the Regional workplan.  Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, program mid-year and annual reviews with country offices and other counterparts to assess programmes and to report on required action/interventions at the higher level of program management. Support to review country level programme strategy notes, CPD and GPECM and UN JP reports with monitoring and evaluation lens
    Innovation, knowledge management and sharing
    Apply/introduce innovative approaches to support the implementation of the above task one and two and delivery of concrete and sustainable results.

    Keep abreast of, research, benchmark and implement best practices in child protection management and information systems in the region and globally. Assess, institutionalize and share best practices and knowledge learned in order to propose best options to countries on how they can better track case management response to children and families experiencing violence.
    Keep record of reports and assessments for easy reference and/or to capture and institutionalize lessons learned, with a focus on ending violence against children

    Work relationships: 

    Under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, the consultant will be expected to engage with the country offices, Regional CSO partners and other Regional Office sections (such as Health, Education and Social Protection etc) for consultation purposes to inform the data analysis and report generation.
