    About the role:

    This role will ensure the delivery of high-quality policy, advocacy, movement building and programming in accordance with Christian Aid’s Programme Quality Standards, as part our  Economic Justice programme and ongoing partnership with the Open Society Foundations.  The postholder will play a pivotal role to contribute to Christian Aid’s economic justice policy and advocacy strategy and ensuring integration between our national, global and regional advocacy around both economic justice and governance & rights. 
    About you:
    Christian Aid is looking for an experienced individual to shape and deliver our global advocacy in a pan-African context.  The successful candidate will be experienced in working with coalition and networks of Civil Society and other like-minded groups  on advocacy and policy and have detailed in-depth understanding of current thinking and debates on economic justice and global economic architecture reform.
    You will you use your  policy research and advocacy, on issues such as tax and debt, aid flows, inclusive budget cycles to support movement building, with the ability to develop a wide range of relevant contacts.  The post holder will use its experience in working in global justice movements with an ability to build strong and cohesive relationships within complex and nuanced civil society environments to facilitate movement building and delivering innovative programme.
    With a track record in delivering impact advocacy and using a range of approaches, you will need to be a great team player with proven experience of building constructive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience in working with Open Society Foundations and  grant and financial management  is an advantage.

    Overview of Role
    The Conservation Monitoring Coordinator at Space for Giants will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing conservation monitoring tools to collect, analyze, and disseminate data across various conservation programs. This position requires strong experience in conservation technology systems and methodologies, a proven track record in capacity building among field-based teams (e.g., rangers, researchers), and the ability to oversee the integration of various types of data and information into a central point. The Coordinator will have a proven track record working with Earthranger, SMART, and ArcGIS along with  Monitoring and Evaluation skills.
    Responsibilities & Scope

    Manage and drive data collection, storage, visualization, and reporting (social, ecological, and spatial) and associated protocols necessary to ensure Space for Giants can track project implementation and impact and also disseminate data across the conservation programmes that will feed into Space for Giant’s M&E strategy.
    Lead the implementation of existing mobile phone monitoring across our portfolio of projects including the training of stakeholders, storage/management/analysis/reporting of data to relevant stakeholders (conservancies, wildlife authorities, donors, etc.), and ongoing oversight and mentorship for partners and Space for Giants staff.
    Drive innovation and conservation technology integration to establish a Space for Giants Data Hub that will incorporate varied streams of data from across our portfolio of projects in an efficient way – using Earthranger as a key integrator.
    Conduct Rapid Technology Needs Assessments across our portfolio of projects to guide management on appropriate technologies to adopt.
    Work closely with the Conservation Programmes Manager to develop and implement appropriate monitoring technology to document Space for Giants conservation impact.
    Design and establish robust M&E frameworks to track and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of conservation programs.
    Work with the Space for Giants Conservation, Fundraising, Communication & Finance teams to support grant proposals, reporting, presentations, and wider communication (including project reporting as necessary for donors and funders).
    Work closely with the Managing Director of Conservation to develop appropriate strategies and develop project concepts and budgetary components for Annual Planning purposes.
    Actively build relationships and partnerships with Conservation Technology providers (e.g. SMART Partnership, Vulcan, ESRI, Motorola, etc.) and Conservation Partners to achieve synergy, economies of scale and standardize data collection, management, and reporting.
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with government partners, including the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI), and ensure compliance with national policies and regulations related to wildlife conservation and data management.
    Provide regular updates to government partners on project progress, findings, and impacts through detailed reports and presentations.
    Heavy focus on training, capacity building, and mentorship of field teams and partners on the use of appropriate technology, protocols, and systems.
    Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, and oversee the execution of projects, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget.
    Line management of Monitoring and Evaluation officer and interns.
    Uphold and promote Space for Giants’ core values.
    Conduct research/assessments on special projects/assignments and report on findings as requested.

     Any other relevant tasks related to the role as directed by the Supervisor.
    Minimum Qualifications

    Multi-lingual (Swahili and/or English or French desirable) and multicultural experience appreciated.
    At least three years of work experience in conservation project management, with hands-on implementation of M&E strategies, and field-based capacity building.
    Educated to at least Master’s degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    Ability to write both technical and non-technical reports.
    Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
    Proven proficiency and working experience implementing impact measuring systems, data, and information management from multiple streams and associated analyses.
    Excellent analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
    Highly Proficient in GIS and related software packages.
    Excellent proficiency in conservation monitoring technology and methodologies with specific reference to SMART, Earthranger, Cyber tracker, (please do not apply if you do not have advanced experience in these) camera traps, GPS collars, cloud-based systems, remote sensors, etc.
    Knowledge and experience of social science methodologies and analyses.
    Ability to write complex funding proposals including budgetary elements.

    Knowledge of Kenya laws and strategies relevant to environmental restrictions, policies, etc.

    Valid driving license
    Requires willingness to travel regularly both domestically and internationally, and to work weekends and evenings occasionally.

     Experience with remote sensing and field-based analyses of habitat types and change over time.

    The Private Sector Coordination Specialist – Southern and Eastern Africa is expected to play a critical role in designing and implementing the new private sector strategy across sub-Saharan Africa and in particular in Southern and Eastern Africa. Under the overall supervision of the CBi Deputy Programme Coordinator, based in Istanbul, Turkey, the Private Sector Coordination Specialist – Southern and Eastern Africa will be responsible for:

    Development, planning, and implementation of national and regional projects to support private sector engagement in disaster management: 

    Lead the development and delivery of national and regional solutions, programmes and workplans for local CBi Member Networks on private sector engagement in disaster risk management and humanitarian response.
    Identify learning needs and solutions, and plan and implement capacity development activities for existing and prospective CBi Member Networks in the Southern and Eastern Africa region.
    Collect and consolidate relevant information on local private sector engagement in disaster risk reduction, crisis preparedness and response, and early recovery at country and regional levels.
    Facilitate landscape assessment and scoping activities to identify and/or partner with prospective Member Networks and other private sector partners in the Southern and Eastern Africa region. 
    Coordination of private sector initiatives during emergency situations: 
    As needed, deploy to countries in the Southern and Eastern Africa region experiencing ongoing disasters to support the coordination of private sector contributions before, during and after emergencies.

    Development of national and regional partnerships and external advocacy:

    Coordinate and work with UNDP and OCHA regional bureaux and country offices, government counterparts, international organizations, and other partners in the Southern and Eastern Africa region on private sector engagement.
    Promote advocacy for private sector engagement in disaster risk management and humanitarian programming. 
    Identify specific needs for private sector engagement in disaster risk reduction, crisis preparedness and response, and early recovery, and support partnerships at the national and regional levels to address those needs. 

    Strategy development and operational support: 

    Facilitate knowledge development and management efforts through the development of case studies and collection and sharing of information on good practices.
    Ensure documentation and timely monitoring, evaluation and reporting of all CBi-related activities implemented by existing and prospective CBi Member Networks in the Southern and Eastern Africa region. 
    Support the CBi Secretariat and contribute to the periodic progress reporting requirements and other UNDP and OCHA reporting requirements. 
    The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

    Institutional Arrangement

    The Private Sector Coordination Specialist will work full-time from the OCHA Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa (ROSEA) based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Private Sector Coordination Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the CBi Deputy Programme Coordinator with “dotted-line” secondary reporting to the OCHA Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa (ROSEA), based in Nairobi, Kenya. An annual workplan will be developed jointly by CBi and OCHA ROSEA to ensure coherence with regional priorities. The Private Sector Coordination Officer will also participate in all relevant ROSEA unit meetings to update on relevant activities and to link these to OCHA’s ongoing preparedness and response work in the region.

    ABOUT THE ROLE
     The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will be charged with the responsibility of coordinating and managing the monitoring and evaluation activities of Nurturing Futures project related for Plan Kenya in Turkana. The role has an assignment to drive project Data Quality Assurance and specific data requirements for projects/programmes as well as tracking and reporting on project outputs, outcomes and impact of the Nurturing Futures project interventions. The M&E Officer will enable documentation of project best practices, lessons learnt and project learning. He/She will work towards profiling Nurturing Futures work and impact stories. The M&E Officer is also responsible for overall coordination of consortium MERL activities.
    ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MAIN WORK ACTIVITIES
    Monitoring Implementation and M&E coordination at strategic level (40%)

    Lead the participatory design and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation framework of the Nurturing Futures project, ensuring comprehensive oversight, coordination with consortium partners, and strategic use of data by the project.
    Ensure the timely delivery of the project M&E framework focused on tracking of project outputs, outcomes and impacts, including regularly following up with consortium partners on the project indicators they are responsible for.
    Collaborate closely with consortium partners and Plan colleagues to identify, develop and contextualise data collection tools to measure project indicators. 
    Ensure consistent and quality data collection methods are used during data collection, as well as conducting data quality checks
    Use digital platforms and digitalised versions of data collection tools (e.g. Kobo Toolbox) for efficient data collection, aggregation and analysis.
    Ensure the project indicators are tracked and the information system is up to date for regular reporting and data utilization.
    Take steps to ensure quality of data collected and data cleaning before analysis.
    Lead the analysis of collected data, including calculation of indicators, assessment of progress, qualitative insights and identification of areas for improvement.
    Oversee project evaluations and studies. Take a lead role on establishment of Terms of reference, recruitment of researcher and quality assurance throughout the process (e.g. measurement tools, report drafts), including coordinating input from other consortium partners.
    Ensure results are entered into the Plan international PMERL system regularly, make the analysis and generate reports from the system.

    Learning, project quality and standards (25%)

    Prepare data, and input into project reports in collaboration with the consortium’s MERL focal points and program managers.
    Present data in clear and visually compelling way to team and consortium, e.g. use of appropriate graphs and visualisation tools (e.g. using Excel and PowerBI dashboards) and sharing of qualitative insights.
    Coordinate learning events and activities, as informed by the project learning agenda, including inviting consortium partners to present.
    Contribute to learning products.
    Support Plan and consortium partners to use on-going project data and analysis to make data-backed decisions to improve the quality of implementation and adapt project design.
    Ensure adherence to Plan International’s M&E standards, Research and evaluation standards and Plan’s ethical guidance around MERL and MER Safeguarding
    Ensure all data is disaggregated by sex, age and disability and that all the M&E framework and project studies are gender responsive.

    Documentation, Data management, Knowledge management (15%)

    Ensure safe data management practices including secure and confidential data collection and storage, and secure sharing in-line with partner data sharing agreements.
    Contribute to a consortium online sharing platform for sharing of projects documents, technical guidance notes and consortium joint working documents
    Disseminate project learning materials and reports to internal and external audiences
    Facilitate and support the documentation of best practices and lessons learned from project outputs for audiences within and outside Plan International
    Support the project team in developing case studies and change stories periodically.

    Capability building through knowledge sharing and networking (10%)

    Support coaching and training needs of partner staff for improved quality M&E practices in response to needs, including facilitating access to existing Plan International MERL training and resources/guidance.
    Conduct trainings of the project partners in relevant M&E areas such as digital data collection, quality checking, analysis, and reporting, as needed and as requested by the consortium partner and Senior Program Manager and partner management.

    Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) 5%

    Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in MERL work. This includes but is not limited to conducting a Safeguarding Risk Assessment before any data collection activity.
    Follow PII’s Safeguarding of Children and Young People policy and Plan International’s Code of Conduct, ensuring that any suspected or actual Safeguarding breach or concern is reported on in accordance with appropriate procedures.
    Ensures that Plan Kenya contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

    Reporting to the Senior Advisor, the Partnership Specialist position’s purpose is to deepen collaboration with key public sector stakeholders and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence within the scope of assignment. This position also contributes to strengthening the Region’s capacity on and compliance with quality reporting on public and private sector grants, as well as through the coordination and stewardship of select multi-country regional partnerships. These functions contribute to continued and growing critical resources to support UNICEF programming in ESAR.
    In collaboration with the Senior Advisor, implement the work plan for assigned area, in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results, in accordance with UNICEF’s partnership strategy.
    Seeks and promotes new partnerships and resource mobilization in public sector, working with UNICEF colleagues to identify partnership and resource mobilization needs in ESAR and broker resource mobilization agreements to meet those needs.
    Acts as a focal point for identification and pursuit of opportunities for outreach, engagement, policy influence and collaboration, including on how to anticipate and respond to partners’ concerns and priorities, ensure that UNICEF’s interests, perspectives, and knowledge are taken into account in relevant policy and institutional processes at regional and global level.
    Provides strategic, logistical and programmatic support to senior management and other UNICEF staff in corporate engagement and interaction with assigned partners.
    Develops and maintains deep knowledge and familiarity with current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders, contributing to a database of key contacts and to UNICEF’s base of knowledge on partnership and resource mobilization.
    Develops and implements annual partnership engagement and resource mobilization plans for specific public partnerships portfolios.
    Contributes to the development of new partnership and resource mobilization practices and approaches by formulating recommendations for action based on on-going monitoring, analyzing current trends within designated partners and formulating recommendations for strategy approaches and message development.
    In collaboration with colleagues in PPP and in other Sections, coordinates, plans, develops, and ensures timeliness and quality oversight of proposals and reports development (narrative and financial) and information (including donor progress and final reports, monthly situation reports, annual reports) on programmes managed by ESARO.
    In collaboration with other Sections within ESARO, ensures effective vertical and horizontal coordination as well as oversight of specific regional programmes, while collecting relevant lessons learned to feed into engagement strategies for public sector partners.
    Contributes to strategies for engagement and the development of communications products to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners by providing analysis of the current environment and trends and formulating recommendations for message development. Works closely with UNICEF’s colleagues to ensure that policy advocacy and outreach is strongly grounded in the experience and insights of the programmes that UNICEF’s supports.
    Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team, including guiding, training, and coaching short-term staff, including interns and consultants, as needed.

    Minimum requirements:

    Education: An advanced university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field.
    Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area.

    Skills: 

    Diplomatic communication and negotiation skills to establish and maintain trusted partnerships for achievement of objectives and to develop close and effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    Current knowledge of development issues, strategies, as well as programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation. 
    In-depth knowledge of partnership development and resource mobilization.
    Demonstrated ability to formulate new approaches in respect of resources management and outreach- related activities.
    Skill in the identification of new opportunities or requirements to meet challenges in the field and propose changes.
    Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
    In-depth familiarity with political and governmental processes
    Ability to conduct sound policy analysis.
    Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

    What you will do

    Who you are
    Relevant Degree

    Summary

    The Manager, Policy and Advocacy will work with the Director, on developing VillageReach’s policy and advocacy agenda, mainly focusing on responsive primary health care, immunization and tech-enabled primary health care. The Manager, Policy and Advocacy, will provide policy analysis and keep abreast of innovative analysis across the suite of issues to support VillageReach’s policy and advocacy agenda. Specifically, they will undertake research and policy analysis, identify policy and advocacy opportunities, and prepare documents on critical policy issues. The position reports to the Director, Policy and Advocacy. This position can be located in Kenya, South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, and Mozambique, Nigeria, Zambia, Uganda.   

    Description
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

    Policy Research and Analysis (40%): Undertake policy thinking and research on responsive primary health care, immunization and tech-enabled primary health care, including identifying policy objectives and critical advocacy and campaign opportunities.
    Develop high-quality policy and research outputs, sometimes at short notice, that are focused on winning arguments to effect change and that can be used by senior leadership and colleagues across the organization, using VillageReach generated data and third-party data.
    Influence Policy-Makers(25%): Engage and build relationships with policy-makers at all levels to advance policy priorities that improve health outcomes, ensuring the policy priorities align with country and global priorities such as SDGs and UHC.

    Produce documents on key policy issues and identify forward-looking trends for – position papers, blogs, talking points, and briefings for senior leadership, senior policymakers and principals.
    Engage with VillageReach’s communications team to develop, plan and deliver organization-wide policy campaigns.

    Country and Program Support (15%): Provide support to country offices and the global team to identify key policy and advocacy opportunities and coordinate policy guidance on driving VillageReach’s core policy and advocacy priorities.
    Build Partnerships (10%): Forge partnerships with a range of like-minded organizations, standard- setting bodies, research and policy experts, and other stakeholders to leverage knowledge-generation activities and advocacy opportunities to influence policy-makers.

    Represent VillageReach in external policy and advocacy meetings and engagements related to their portfolio, including high-profile meetings as appropriate.

    Business Development (10%): Working with the Director, identify opportunities to engage funders for build a healthy pipeline of funding opportunities for the policy and advocacy team. This includes working with programs and countries in identifying policy and advocacy opportunities in different business development opportunities.
