    Job Description
    Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, the Gender Advisor will be responsible for integrating gender into policy, culture, service delivery and in other elements of programming. This includes implementing activities related to the influence of gender norms and sociocultural practices on FP/RMNCAH, nutrition and WASH programming, including in the areas of prevention and management of SGBV. Advisor will also liaise with other staff and county teams at the health facility and community levels to identify and implement activities to address the gaps and obstacles related to optimum uptake of FP/RMNCAH, nutrition and WASH and mainstream gender into programming.

    Provide oversight to implementation and coordination of interventions for gender mainstreaming within project interventions
    Provide leadership to develop tools for organizational gender audit and gender analysis at the county level
    Provide leadership during gender analysis and the development and implementation of gender action plan being guided by specific sociocultural contexts
    Provide leadership in the design of gender and SGBV community sensitization activities through adaptation of existing BCC materials to transform norms
    Provide leadership during development and systematic implementation of monitoring and reporting framework for interventions for the gender mainstreaming and prevention and management of SGBV
    Build the capacity of HCWs on gender mainstreaming and integration targeting staff and partners as well as on SGBV prevention and management using a multi-sectoral approach
    Provide leadership on program learning for gender related interventions, including the development of scientifically and ethically sound research proposals and study tools, data management, advocacy plans and dissemination of research findings through multiple channels including abstracts for conferences and manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals
    Provide technical support to staff, sub-grantees and other stakeholders including government agencies to assess and analyze the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of existing efforts in integrating gender within their policies around FP/RMNCAH, nutrition and WASH
    Contribute to the development and/or adaptation of national and international policies on SGBV to the local context
    Provide leadership during development of project proposals, concept notes and publications on gender mainstreaming and SGBV interventions
    Lead the preparation of annual work plans and project reports on the gender element of the project as per donor regulations
    Participate in presentation of reports to the donor on project implementation related to gender norms
    Document and share with the donor and other stakeholders lessons learned during implementation of gender interventions
    Develop technical and scientific capacity of staff within the project and MOH
    Provide guidance, mentorship and supervision of line staff
    Actively participate the resource mobilization as required
    Experience working within the devolved health system in Kenya
    Advanced degree in degree in social science, social work, public health

    Job Requirement

    7+ years’ first-hand experience in gender mainstreaming and/or SGBV programming
    Knowledge of current global and regional public health debates on gender interventions
    Proven experience and skills in research and advocacy and writing high quality donor reports
    Proven experience working with local/national governments and capacity building of systems, partners and staff
    Ability to extensively travel for project monitoring and provide on-site technical support to field teams
    Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
    Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an multicultural and matrix management environment with people from diverse backgrounds
    Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets
    Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
    Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
    Excellent verbal, written interpersonal and presentation skills in English
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

    Caseworker Job Responsibilities 

    Assists in Adjudications Circuit Rides, which includes completing post-Adjudication review, updating decisions and fingerprints, and preparing and distributing decision letters.
    Runs Quality Check reports to ensure complete and accurate files, as well as identifies and correct processing errors prior to USCIS adjudication.
    Identifies and reviews cases pending Prescreening and USCIS interviews in preparation for scheduling, schedules the cases in WRAPS, generates reports for refugee/partner notification, ensures that the reports are centrally filed for easy retrieval, and updates WRAPS accordingly.
    Prepares cases for CIS, including reviewing physical and WRAPS files and constituting physical files.
    Works with other Operations departments as necessary to properly update the appropriate cases.
    Assists as needed in preparing circuit rides.  This may include but is not limited to; requisitioning supplies, assisting GSO in preparation, packing of files, contacting interpreters, clean up at the end of the circuit ride, and other tasks as assigned by the Supervisors.
    Completes and updates all case files all database records.
    Writes deferrals and info memos for referring agency action, as required.
    Conducts file reviews in accordance with RSC and USCIS guidelines, paying close attention to detail.
    Assists in various administrative tasks including but not limited to: research, locating files, data entry, and case analysis.
    Analyses complex cases in consultation with Supervisors in accordance with established policies and procedures, while remaining open to supervisory direction.
    Trains new staff as required and contributes to the development of Field Team training procedures and their implementation.
    Contributes to the development and updating of standard operating procedures for the Field Team in coordination with Field Team Supervisors, Managers and Field Team Coordinator.
    Performs additional duties and special assignments as needed to facilitate the efficient processing and operation of the United States Refugee Admissions Program in Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Job Summary:
    The Program Officer (PO) will be responsible for ensuring effective delivery of the Kenya Peaceful Youth and their Communities Program. S/He will oversee the work of AFSC program Partners under the Kenya Program. The Program Officer will be strong on Project Cycle management and be overall responsible for the implementation and results of all projects under the Kenya Program. The scope of work includes project management, reporting, capacity building and training, resource mobilization, coordinating Program partners, networking, lobbying and advocacy. The Program Officer will also provide technical support to partners in terms of programming approaches related to peace and conflict resolution, AVP (Alternative to violence program), Do no Harm and other Community based approaches. S/He will engage with all key stakeholders to achieve program results in line with the Kenya strategic plan. S/He will participate in extended Africa Leadership Team (ALT) meeting and make presentations on the Kenya Program. S/He will be responsible for developing annual work plans and budget, writing periodic reports, case studies and stories of significant change and contribute to AFSC publications for external communication.
    Skills and Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in a field of knowledge relevant to AFSC’s work-(Development, peace and conflict.)
    Minimum of 5 years’ experience of relevant work
    Familiarity with the work of AFSC and willingness to work closely with fellow staff as a team. Reliable in meeting deadlines and completing assigned tasks.
    Demonstrated analytical and communications skills; fluency in spoken and excellent written English, required, and in another local language desirable, such as Kiswahili.

    Team Leader – National Position Analysis of Solutions Planning and Programming In Urban Contexts: A Comparative Study Of Kenya, Uganda And Somalia

    Background
    The overall objective of the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat (RMMS) is to support governments, agencies, institutions and forums in the Horn of Africa and Yemen sub-region to improve the management of protection and assistance response to people in mixed migration flows in the Horn of Africa and across the Gulf of Aden or Red Sea in Yemen. As such the RMMS is a regional hub aiming to provide: support and coordination, synthesis, analysis and research, information and data management and support to policy development and dialogue. It hopes to act as an independent entity acting as a catalyst, and where appropriate, as an ‘agent provocateur’ to stimulate forward thinking and policy development in the sector dealing with mixed migration. Its overarching focus and emphasis is on human rights, protection and assistance. Since its inception in 2011, RMMS has developed a strong reputation for collating, analyzing and disseminating mixed migration data.
    Currently, the secretariat is a unit co-located with the Danish Refugee Council’s regional office (East Africa and Yemen region) in Nairobi, Kenya which hosts and supports the RMMS. The RMMS core Steering Committee and founding agencies are UNHCR, IOM, DRC, Intersos, the European Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) as well as various donors (Swiss government, Norwegian Government). This RMMS is part of a network of RMMS/Mixed Migration entities within DRC and under the aegis of the Global Mixed Migration Secretariat in Geneva (established 2017).
    Mixed Migration context
    The Horn of Africa is an important departure point for people in mixed migration flows. Each year tens of thousands of people in the form of refugees, asylum seekers, smuggled economic migrants and trafficked persons, are on the move, many face uncertain futures and frequently highly undesirable conditions in their respective journeys. They move within the region and also leave the region in different directions but, at present, only the approximate number of irregular (maritime) migrants leaving the mainland for Yemen are monitored and recorded.
    Objectives of the 4Mi
    In a fast-changing political and policy environment where there is increased focus on mixed migration patterns, RMMS has implemented, since 2014, the 4Mi data gathering mechanism to ensure an improved data collection and enable an enhanced authoritative analysis of flows in the region. Other 4Mi initiatives around the world have been set up based on the success of the early models of 4Mi and all come under the aegis and shepherding of the new Global Mixed Migration Secretariat (GMMS) in Geneva.
    The overall aim is to support an improved knowledge base for policy response and protection response to mixed migration.
    The overall objective of 4Mi is to inform research & analysis, policy development and programmatic responses. To increase understanding of realities on ground and protection gaps etc. and through this improve protection of those in mixed migration flows where increasing levels of abuse, neglect, hardship and death face men, women and children caught in mixed migration flows.
    The specific objectives of the Team Leader position will be Support a short-duration research project within migrant populations in Nairobi. The goals of the Team Leader are to help recruit research assistants, facilitate
    Responsibilities of the project manager:

    Successful completion of training modules as outlined by the Project Coordinator.
    Oversee successful completion & upload of 2 to 4 migrant interviews by each research assistant every workday. Excellent leadership would be demonstrated through quality results, rather than quantity.
    Daily communication with Project Coordinator. More frequent communication may be requested depending on need. Written support will also be provided to the Project Coordinator.
    Provide logistics support to research assistants
    Ensure that each research assistant applies training properly

    We are looking for a Regional Humanitarian Health Advisor to join our team and drive forward our health programmes in humanitarian contexts and to ensure we are delivering quality interventions by providing quality technical inputs and direction. You will also be responsible for driving the Public Health on the Front Line strategy.

    As Regional Humanitarian Health Advisor you will be deployed to the field at short notice in order to set up new emergency health programmes; including leading technical assessments, developing health programme plans, strategies and master budgets, and leading on coordination and representation.     Ensure responses are based on Save the Children’s theory of change, strategies and principles of child rights programming, national policies and international best practice
    Work with the regional office and other Save the Children members to secure funding for humanitarian health programmes, coordinating with donor technical experts and developing high quality proposals
    Work closely with other advisors from the Humanitarian team on developing and implementing knowledge and best practice for integrated programming
    Effectively manage the deployment of Health HSTs, while supervising, mentoring and supporting their professional development
    Work closely with Save the Children Emergency Health Unit (EHU) on design and deployment criteria for the EHU.

    To be successful you will have proven experience in the field, as well as head office in the implementation and management of humanitarian health programmes. You will also have a Medical Doctor, Nurse, Doctor of Philosophy degree or equivalent technical training. In addition you will have:

    Proven experience in developing strategies and proposals for major donors
    Experience of working on HIV programmes including PMTCT in emergency context
    Strong communication skills at a level appropriate for high level external representation and the ability to tailor communications to different audiences
    Experience of capacity building and mentoring with experience of team leadership and management
    Ability to travel at short notice, occasionally to remote and insecure locations for up to 50% of work time.
