    The Digital Health Instructional Design consultant:

    Conducts training needs analysis to determine learning and performance needs and recommends methods for delivery such as instructor-led, eLearning, bite-size learning, mobile learning (mLearning), blended learning or other considering the audience, program needs, and requirements,
    Designs and develops learning approaches, training materials and media including course outlines, storyboards, facilitator guides, participant guides, job aids and other content resources,
    Converts existing curricula (manuals, videos, guides, etc) into engaging eLearning courses with innovative interactions, such as quizzes, gamification and scenario-based learning focusing on user experience,
    Routinely reviews and modifies training curriculum, as appropriate, based upon quality, performance and satisfaction metrics to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness,
    Establishes training standards and ensures all material is consistent and aligned with learning and proven instructional design principles,
    Monitors emerging technologies, training and development trends and standards and makes recommendations for adoption,
    Works collaboratively with team members, including project managers, subject matter experts, and Moodle developers.

    Deliverables of this consultancy includes:

    eLearning courses designed as storyboards including modules, text, images, narrations and voice-over scripts. If relevant, include quizzes, videos/animations and practical activities,
    Relevant components of eLearning courses added as pre-test, post-tests by module, final post-test, certificate of completion and accomplishment, feedback survey. Each eLearning course is complemented by reference materials (i.e., job-aids, manuals, etc.) provided by PSI and/or Ministries of Health,
    User Acceptance Testing conducted for the eLearning courses developed with a pool of target users and courses are refined based on users’ feedback,
    Final version of eLearning courses developed as SCORM files or Moodle-based. This includes multi-language versions of the eLearning courses where relevant – translations will be provided,
    eLearning courses launched with a sample of learners and enrollment and engagement approaches are in place.

    What are we looking for?
    The basics

    Degree in a related field such as public health, education, instructional design, organizational psychology

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Lead and working closely with the sector heads for development/establishment of WASH/shelter gender/protection mainstreaming approaches, strategies and activities which fit in the context of the project site and in line with the directions of humanitarian assistance and guided by analysis of WASH/shelter sector needs and priorities.

    Conduct activities to increase awareness of a community as a whole and improve capacities of women and girls on menstrual hygiene management.     Coordinate with education partners and schools to implement menstrual hygiene management in addition to School Led Total Sanitation(SLTS), star school awarding program
    Work closely with the shelter team to reflect the needs of girls and women in designs of WASH facilities and shelters to ensure conducive environment for practicing MHM and mitigate risks of GVB
    Plan, coordinate, facilitate and create reports of PSEA/GBV,MHM training and workshops for community-based WASH/shelter staff e.g. hygiene promoters, water supply incentives, shelter monitors, teachers, WASH committee members among others.
    Provide technical support and supervision to community-based staff to empower them to fulfil their tasks and improve their performance
    Take lead in stakeholder engagements in MHM and gender/protection mainstreaming in within the sub-county
    Provide day-to-day management of specific MHM and SRHR project activities, ensuring work is completed against the scope, timelines, and budget.
    Develop effective community engagement strategies and implement them with community-based staff to promote community ownership
    Identify further needs in the areas of MHM and gender/protection mainstreaming in WASH and shelter programmes and contribute in development of concept notes, proposals for fund raising.

    Supervise tailors to produce re-usable pads according to the approved standards.
    Co-ordinate and actively participate in the development and Strengthening of the market for Menstrual Hygiene Management products produced by tailors.
    Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources (financial, administrative and other) ,verify compliance with approved allocation/organization rules, regulations and donor commitments, standards of accountability and integrity.
    Work with the health partners on how to interpret and use data/findings to guide targeted interventions and decision making
    Work closely with the MEAL officer to ensure necessary data on MHM and gender/protection are collected and analyzed in routine surveys such as KAP surveys and latrine census and any other surveys
    Timely development of monthly, quarterly ,semi-annual and annual performance reports and highlighting success stories arising from the field
    Represent the organization as required in inter-agency and government coordination meetings and liaise with other organizations working in the operational area where appropriate.

    Required Qualifications
    Education and qualification

    Bachelor’s degree in gender, development studies, social science or public health from a recognized university.
    Additional course or personal learning on community development, livelihood, project and business management is an asset

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    HIAS Kenya seeks to recruit a Protection Monitor to contribute to a project, whose goal is: ‘Improved access to, and uptake of, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) refugees of reproductive age in Nairobi’. The project seeks to contribute to:

    Improved enabling environment among LGBTQ refugees in Nairobi
    Enhanced capacity of LGBTQ refugees to address their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues
    Enhanced capacity for LGBTQ community-based organizations (CBOs) to advocate for their SRHR in Nairobi

    The protection monitors will be drawn from the areas surrounding the 3 HIAS site /outreach offices. These include Isinya, Rongai, Matasia, Kasarani, Githurai, Gikambura, Njiru, Kawangware, Mwiki, Eastleigh etc.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Assist in the mobilization of community members for the project roll-out and close-out meetings, relevant trainings, and community-based discussions on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)
    Assist in mobilization for registration and enrolment of sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers into the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), provision of cash-based transport allowance to LGBTQ led CBOs for access to SRH services, provision of personal protective equipment (PPEs) and hygiene packs to the LGBTQ refugee and asylum seeker community
    Participate in relevant trainings relating to SRHR as guided by HIAS project team
    Support in collection of accurate data and dissemination of information to the sexual and gender minority community as guided by HIAS
    Work with peer educators to monitor and document interventions regarding SRHR and HIV/AIDs within the sexual and gender minority refugee community and report findings in follow up meetings with designated HIAS staff
    Facilitate access to, and referrals for, appropriate LGBTQ-friendly medical/health services for the sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers that is inclusive of counselling, HIV testing and administration of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
    Assist in creating and establishing sustainable community networks with sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers within the urban area
    Create and support with the collaborative opportunities that sexual and gender minority refugees and asylum seekers can benefit from
    Link the sexual and gender minority refugee and asylum seeker community to community-based psychosocial support from designated CBOs

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
    Education

    O – Level education certificate
    Any other relevant training

    Experience

    Not less than three months’ work experience, preferably with an NGO. Experience in the field of refugee protection and assistance to sexual and gender minorities from the refugee community is an added advantage.

    Skills & Competencies

    Must be part of the sexual and gender minority community.
    Must not be in leadership or management, including the boards, in any refugee-led CBO.
    Must have basic literacy and numeracy skills.
    Demonstrated experience on working with gender issues and/or SRHR.
    Should be well integrated to the dynamics, needs and challenges of members of the sexual and gender minority community.
    Ability to work with members of the community with little or no supervision.
    Good/basic working knowledge and experience of navigating STI/HIV care services.

    Qualifications/special skills

    A first level university degree in environmental sciences, international development or other relevant political or social sciences area is required and an advanced degree in the same areas is desirable.
    A minimum of 7 years of technical / evaluation experience is required preferably including evaluating large, regional or global programmes and using a Theory of Change approach.
    A good/broad understanding of illicit trade in wildlife legislations and policy, particularly in Africa, is desired
    Working Knowledge of a development oriented organisation particularly in the UN System and specifically the work of UNEP is an added advantage.

    Languages

Support hygiene promoters to carry out these strategies through regular hygiene promotion activities and community dialogues to engage communities to foster their initiatives to improve their sanitation and hygiene
    Provide technical assistance for the community agents and beneficial communities on construction/installment of WASH related facilities e.g. toilet, hand washing facility, refuse-pit and dish rack, etc.
    Coordinate with education partners and schools to implement School Led Total Sanitation(SLTS), star school awarding and any other activities to promote sanitation and hygiene among school going children
    Conduct community awareness creation sessions on menstrual hygiene management. This includes dialogues with leaders including religious leaders and any other trusted persons in the community
    Work together with incentive sanitation cleaners, market committees and any other groups and individual to remove the waste from the residential and communal spaces, dispose the waste and manage existing disposal site properly. Develop a strategy for sustainable solid waste management service for the future implementation
    Develop sanitation marketing strategies with CBOs and private sectors for sanitation and hygiene and involve hygiene promoters in carrying out sanitation marketing activities.

    Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation

    Work with the health partners on how to interpret and use data/findings to guide targeted interventions and decision making
    Work closely with the MEAL officer to conduct routine KAP surveys and latrine census.
    Timely development of monthly, quarterly ,semi-annual and annual performance reports and highlighting success stories arising from the field

    Provide career guidance and labour market information to clients.

    Qualifications

    Higher Diploma or Degree in Social Work/Social Sciences/Counseling/psychology/ community Development or other related field preferred.
    Counseling and experience/ working with reputable organization or local organizations/groups, in provision of counseling and psychosocial, Livelihoods/ economic and social empowerment support to clients both urban Refugees and Vulnerable Kenyans Youth especially women and girls.
    Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with clients of all background and diversity.
    2-3 years’ experience working with Youth especially Refugees in direct service provision in the areas of Livelihoods and/ Protection.
    Good facilitation skills
    Clear understanding, including demonstrated positive attitudes on Refugees Rights
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times is essential.
    Ability to lead, train, supervises, facilitates and motivates other Re:Build staff and local partners in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
    Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work for longer hours when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks with adherence to detail.

    Fluent in English and Swahili
