    Key performance areas and main responsibilities

    Provides effective leadership for the SOS Children Villages FSP team based in Kisumu

    Required Qualifications / Abilities

    A holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Development / Social Sciences (Sociology, Development studies, Economics or related field)
    A thorough understanding, preferably 3 years’ experience of project planning and community implementation of OVC, Child Protection and Livelihoods programs.
    Demonstrated experience working as a mid/senior level manager in at least 3 of the following areas: child protection, household economic strengthening, social protection, education, health and nutrition including HIV care and support; social service systems strengthening, including social services workforce and M&E. Strong preference for experience in case management and case planning, community level capacity building, facilitating appropriate referrals/linkages and other strategies with the aim of ensuring empowered children, families and communities who are self-reliant.
    Familiarity with programme cycle management approaches and tools – including participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation with good understanding of financial controls and procedures.
    Excellent interpersonal, strong writing and oral presentation skills to meet diverse requirements of immediate beneficiaries and other stakeholders
    Experience of facilitation, training and network building.

    Context of the Role
    We’re looking for an experienced consultant to join our Impact team to support the delivery of the large-scale social behaviour change programs that focus on improving the lives of adolescent girls and young women, leading the testing, monitoring and evaluation of innovative products and solutions and products.
    What You’ll Do

    Lead the development and implementation of our evidence strategy across multiple programs, including one in Kenya and one in South Africa.
    Ensure that project deliverables are carried out on time and to a high standard.
    Lead, with the support of the Global Head of Impact, the methodological design of research, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and studies/evaluations, using qualitative and quantitative methods.
    Liaise with different teams and product leads to ensure that measurement is fit-for-purpose, girl-centred and appropriate for different cultural and social contexts.
    Liaise with other colleagues to ensure that the approach at each stage fits within a structured approach to measurement, aligning with design sprints, M&E implementation, and overall evaluation.
    Quality assure data management, analysis and reporting to ensure that measurement meets the highest quality, data protection and ethical standards and is effectively generating both insights for end-users across the organisation, and results for accountability and learning.
    Provide technical expertise, particularly on quantitative outputs, liaising with team members as required. Where necessary, you will support colleagues in the global evidence team to quality assure evidence projects.
    Manage evidence colleagues in country on project work, building their capacity and skills as needed.

    Who You Are

    Demonstrable technical skills in design, fieldwork, data analysis and reporting for large-scale and panel surveys, including outcome evaluations, within one or more of the media, communications, international development or social change sectors.
    Direct experience in evaluating digital user-facing interventions, including contributions to the design process with respect to back-end measurement needs and the pathway to achieving necessary project outputs through digital data capture.
    Hands-on experience in applied research in emerging markets or developing contexts using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
    Experience in Human Centred Design, UX Design, or other Design Sprint processes.
    Demonstrated skills in producing high-quality, innovative and engaging research reports, presentations and briefings for diverse audiences.
    Strong project management skills, including developing clear internal communications systems and work plans, terms of reference, and reporting.
    Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity about the cultures within which Girl Effect operates.
    Experience coordinating work-streams across multiple geographies and ability to work effectively in multicultural teams with varying expertise, skills and backgrounds.
    Excellent written and spoken English and Swahili, with an ability to cut through complexity and communicate effectively to multi-disciplinary audiences.
    Creative and inquisitive mindset with strong communication and organisational skills.
    Commitment to realising girls’ potential and to the Girl Effect’s vision and values.
    Background in evaluating programmes related to women and girls is also highly desirable.

    Job Summary: Reporting to the Regional Manager and will work closely with other departments, external partners, and stakeholders, i.e., County Government health teams, National Government departments at the county and sub-county levels. He/she will be responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive HIV prevention and treatment services that target Key populations in the Drop-In Center, county government health, and in the community.
    Job Responsibilities

    He /She will spearhead the implementation of evidence based KP behavioural interventions by working with outreach workers and peer educators within the designated program locations
    Plan and coordinate HIV prevention programs among key populations, specifically MSM programs within their coverage area.
    Establish, strengthen, and coordinate key populations outreach team for optimum coverage and reach with HIV prevention services.
    Collaborate with clinicians and HTS counsellors to ensure 100% linkage and retention in care
    Network and collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs, CBOs, FBOs) involved in key populations programming in and outside Bomet County
    Disseminate information, education, and communication materials on advocacy for key populations
    Maintain contact directories for NGOs, FBOs and CBOs involved with key populations programs, including key activities for complete linked – referrals.
    Prepare monthly work plans for clinical outreach activities to map KP hotspots and prepare summary reports after every planned outreach.
    Ensure HIV prevention commodities stock is always available at service delivery points.
    Prepare and submit monthly reports to the government and the program.
    Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Diploma in social sciences, nursing, public health, community development, or a related field. Added advantage if certified HTS provider or related clinical certifications
    At least three (3) years of working experience in key populations and other HIV prevention activities in community settings with skills in training and facilitation, monitoring, and evaluation. Added advantage if drawn from MSM and or FSW Community
    Familiarity with Kenya’s HIV epidemic and the status of HIV programs among key populations is desirable.
    Computer literate and able to work with minimal supervision.
    Ability to work independently but also as a team member
    Strong leadership, facilitation, and decision-making skills
    Excellent interpersonal communication.
    Good oral and written communication skills (English and Swahili)
    Computer literacy in the use of MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is desired
    Ability to work and deliver results with minimum supervision
    Demonstrated ability to work as a team player

    Principal Responsibilities
    Provide technical support to project implementation.

    Provide technical support for the integration of gender findings from the gender analysis studies into program activity plans, strategies, budgets, and monitoring, evaluation and learning systems.
    Ensure FH’s project compliance with FH gender justice policy and mainstreaming guideline, USAID’s Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Policy, Food for Peace Gender Guidance, ADS 205 and other relevant guiding principles, policies, and regulations throughout the RFSA initiatives and other USAID funded projects as applicable.
    Continuously recommend adjustments to project strategies and activities to respond to gender findings throughout the life of the program, ensure strategies and activities to prevent and/or mitigate gender-based violence are included during project implementation.
    Evaluate project monitoring systems and adjust as necessary to disaggregate data by sex, include gender sensitive indicators and have strategies for monitoring unintended consequences.
    Represent FH to identify and facilitate relationships with Universities and other learning partners, identify learning questions related to gender, manners of meeting those information needs, and their fulfillment and documentation.

    Job Level Specifications

    Duties and responsibilities

    The objective of this consultancy is to provide technical backstopping to strengthen safeguards processes in Ghana, particularly focused on safeguards activities needed for implementing TREES and advancing with LEAF process. Under the supervision of the UN-REDD Programme Officer, the consultant based in Accra Ghana will work directly with the designated REDD+ safeguards focal points and the National REDD+ Secretariat based in the Forestry Commission of Ghana (FC) with frequent physical presence at the FC offices.

    More Specifically, He/she Will Perform The Following Tasks

    Develop inputs and follow up on the requirements to comply with ART/TREES and LEAF safeguards requirements, including inputs for the safeguards section of the TREES Registration Document, the TREES Monitoring Report and the Plan for Conformance with TREES safeguards outcome indicators,
    Elaborate Ghana’s second summary of safeguards information, in collaboration with key country stakeholders and information providers, including data gathering, editing and continued follow up with information providers,
    Provide legal advice to strengthen the implementation of policies and actions defined for addressing and respecting REDD+ safeguards in Ghana, based on the national approach to safeguards,
    Provide guidelines, follow up and support the implementation of the Feedback Grievance and Redress Mechanism, including legal advice to address complaints or grievances received associated to REDD+ implementation in the country.
    Define benefit sharing arrangements or inform updates for these arrangements for future ER payments associated to an agreement with LEAF, building on the advances and experiences to date related to the benefit sharing plan for ER payments under the Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Programme,
    Plan the development of capacity building efforts in Ghana related to the Feedback Grievance and Redress Mechanism, Benefit Sharing arrangements and other safeguards/related topics, in close coordination with the country focal points,
    Monitor and evaluate activities, including provision of safeguards inputs for population of ER monitoring report, based on processes defined by the Forestry Commission of Ghana.
    Identify actions and recommendations for strengthening the application of safeguards at the national, subnational and local level.
    Identify opportunities for strengthening of safeguards reporting through the country’s SIS

    Qualifications/special Skills
    Academic Qualifications:

    A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, law with focus on environment, natural resources management, environmental engineering or related field, is required.

    Experience

    A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible working experience with first level degree in forestry forest policy, forest or natural resources management, climate change, ecosystem management, REDD+ or related fields is required.
    Prior working experience with an international organization is an advantage,
    Understanding of laws and national policies associated to forestry sector and human rights is desirable,
    Experience in understanding social issues associated to forest and natural resources management is desirable,
    Experience working across diverse institutions and fostering productive stakeholder partnerships and REDD+ stakeholders in Ghana is desirable.

    Skills

    Knowledge of dispute resolution and grievance redress mechanisms,
    Knowledge of report writing and editing,
    Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs,

    Languages
