    POSITION SUMMARY:
    HIAS seeks to recruit a GBV Officer who will be expected to implement designed strategies on prevention and response to Gender Based Violence amongst refugees in Kenya.  HIAS uses a survivor-centered, community-based approach. Our programs consider the voices and needs of survivors and prioritize their leadership in program design and implementation. HIAS works with   communities’ natural systems in order to optimize support for survivors, building partnerships to promote and protect the rights of survivors, women, girls, and LGBTQ-identified individuals. The officer will be responsible for contributing to the timely and quality implementation of GBV related activities and GBV case management for the urban refugee community.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Implement and monitor Gender Based Violence prevention and response activities/interventions for the urban refugee community.
    Contribute to the establishment of community based prevention mechanism, risk mitigation strategies and support for the vulnerable persons of concern including survivors of GBV
    Support the implementation of safe spaces for women and girls to build peer support networks to enhance their economic and social assets
    Contribute to the design of new ways of engaging men in ending violence against refugee women and girls.
    Support Gender-based violence survivors  received at HIAS offices and identified in the refugee community through the provision of survivor centered case management services to respond to the needs of clients, provide them information and resources to access services and make appropriate referrals to other service providers if required.
    Conduct timely follow up on referrals and action plans, and support services provided to GBV survivors, ensuring that the survivors receive the assistance they need
    Support  qualitative assessments through focus groups discussions to understand the risks of GBV and map out service support structures for GBV survivors. 
    Engage with the refugee community representatives to understand needs and gaps in gender-based violence programming with a priority focus on the voices and leadership of survivors.
    Participate in capacity building initiatives for staff, partners and other stakeholders to create awareness, ensure quality and comprehensive delivery of project activities
    Closely work with case workers, community outreach workers to ensure that best practices on GBV programming are respected and the international standards are met.
    Plan, attend and facilitate monthly meetings with community leaders, support groups and other stakeholders on GBV prevention and response.
     Ensure community members are mobilized to participate in anti-GBV activities and awareness campaigns 
    Organize, attend, and/or facilitate workshops and Training of Trainers sessions for community workers, support groups and agency workers. 
    Contribute to the development of project proposals, concept notes and sector publications.
    Participate in research on good programming practices on GBV prevention and response.
    Ensure ongoing maintenance/update of GBVIMS (Gender Based Violence Information Management System) and preparation of qualitative reports on GBV Program

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Community Development Studies, Social Science and/or other related fields of study
    Minimum of 3 years previous job experience related to GBV response.
    MUST have in-depth knowledge and experience in Refugee Protection
    Demonstrated experience working directly with refugees who are survivors of GBV

    KEY FEATURES OF THE VULNERABILITY MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

    Ability to perform a Network Asset Inventory; The solution should be able to do this either by pulling information from Active Directory and/or a high-level network scan that probes for active IP addresses.
    Baseline Scan: The solution should be able to identify the operating system and applications running on identified hosts.
    Identifying possible vulnerabilities: Retrieve information on vulnerabilities that might affect the hosts and identify possible vulnerabilities across all major operating systems, applications, network devices and database systems. E.g. configuration flaws, missing patches, default passwords, insecure protocols etc.
    Prioritization: The solution should be able to prioritize the actions that will have the greatest impact on MESPT’s security posture. This can be achieved by incorporating information about the severity and impact of the vulnerability, the priority of the system and any compliance issues that may exist.
    Quality and Speed of Updates: Frequency of releasing new vulnerability updates. Ability to accurately detect vulnerabilities.
    Support for Cloud Services. The product should include the ability to detect issues with configurations in the cloud. This is for environments of any tools we use for Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service or Software as a Service.
    Compliance. The product should provide support for compliance programs such as ISO 27001, GDPR etc. Ability to use the product to perform required scans and complete self-assessments.
    Active and Passive Detection. The product should integrate both traditional active scanning of systems with passive vulnerability detection based upon observation of network traffic.
    Authenticated and Unauthenticated Scanning. The product should support authenticated and unauthenticated scanning. The product should support scanning with agents installed and without agents.
    Remediation Guidance. The product should provide remediation guidance for identified vulnerabilities. The product should provide enough information to remediate the vulnerability.
    Audit trails; The solution should provide audit trails on user activity e.g. Alerts on system and administrative activity e.g. new accounts creation, permissions addition/deletion, configuration changes etc.
    Role based Access: The solution should provide role-based access by function.
    Report Creation: The solution must provide an intuitive reporting interface that can leverage existing reports or the creation of new reports. The reports should also provide for drill down capabilities.
    Dashboards: The solution should provide dashboards with drill down capability to make it easier to identify and select certain vulnerabilities or vulnerabilities affecting a particular system.

    ROLE PURPOSE:
    The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Technical Specialist will use their in-depth contextual understanding, technical and practical expertise, and relationship building skills to define and deliver our strategic ambition for advancing gender equality and social inclusion in Kenya and Madagascar.   The role will lead strategy development and the technical design, implementation and measurement of high-quality programmes that advance gender equality and social inclusion, and ensure that girls and boys can equitably access, participate within, benefit from and act as decision makers for both emergency and development programming. The role supports national advocacy and influencing, while driving strategic partnerships to advance gender equality. 
    It provides leadership to ensure our work is grounded on intersectional gender and power analysis and supports the design and implementation of gender transformative monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact, while sharing learning across our programmes, teams and partners.  The role will work closely with operations (programme implementation) colleagues and with partners, especially women’s/girls’ rights and gender equality-focused organizations, in Kenya, fostering the building of ownership and agency of local and national actors. It will provide leadership to design/adapt and deliver gender transformative content for capacity building and system strengthening of staff and partners. This role includes a focus on external representation on priority issues including child-centred gender and power analysis, girls’ empowerment, gender-based violence and other topics central to gender transformative child rights-based approaches across thematic areas. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
    Strategy & Technical Leadership:

    Provide technical leadership for gender equality and social inclusion for the Country Office and set the strategic approach in relation to the wider global strategy, Country priorities, and supporting the organization to implement Save the Children’s Global Gender Equality Policy.
    Provide technical leadership to establish/support/monitor a Gender Equality Action Plan for the for-Country Offices, grounded in Save the Children’s Gender Equality Self-Assessment and other tools.
    Stay abreast of technical developments and trends in gender equality and social inclusion  disseminating information to Country Office technical experts to access, understand, utilize, and contextualise global guidance, evidence, materials and tools
    Build capacity of staff and partners across the Country  Office in key technical approaches related to advancing gender equality and social justice via developing and facilitating high quality training via workshops, webinars, etc., as well as providing ongoing high-quality technical assistance and coaching.

    Resource Mobilization & Programme Design:

    Work closely with New Business Development team at the Country Office to serve as the technical lead on key strategic gender equality and social inclusion  funding opportunities, including but not limited to scoping, capture planning, positioning, information gathering, partnership brokering etc
    Provide technical assistance to the Country Office on design to fashion a high quality, holistic gender-transformative and gender-equality focused programs grounded on intersectional gender and power analysis, upholding accountability for Save the Children’s global Gender Equality Marker (development or humanitarian), and incorporating best practices, evidence-based solutions and innovation for gender equality;
    Work with Child Rights Governance colleagues to ensure that a rights based approach is reflected in our programme design and implementation (in line with our child rights programming approach), with a strong focus on meaningful and equitable child participation
    Promote a Systems Strengthening approach as the overarching framework that supports working in collaboration and partnership with governments and local partners and working towards impact, scale and sustainability.

    Programme Quality during Implementation:

    Provide oversight and guidance to programme implementation teams to ensure that thematic programme components are technically sound and grounded on gender and power analysis, implementation methods are consistent with national and global strategies, acknowledged good practice (e.g. Save the Children Common Approaches); and are likely to achieve scale, as well as equitable and sustainable results.
    Promote and monitor integrated programming in a way that increases overall impact of gender sensitive and transformative programmes at the community level. Contribute to strengthening the use of equality-focused programme principles and good practice across themes and sectors.
    Contribute to the development, dissemination, monitoring and evaluation of innovative program quality tools and resources focused on advancing gender equality
    Undertake field visits to project sites; work with implementation teams to understand impacts, operational challenges, and continuously identify opportunities for learning and improvement.
    Support Humanitarian colleagues (as needed) to develop gender sensitive and transformative emergency preparedness plans, and conduct intersectional, sectoral assessments (including gender and power analysis, using SC assessment processes and tools) and to design and deliver gender sensitive/transformative emergency response and recovery programmes. Build capacity on gender equality and gender-based violence among humanitarian teams involved in different sectors. Ensure synergies between humanitarian gender equality teams, disaggregated data and gender sensitive/transformative programme design.
    Monitor trends in humanitarian crises in order to ensure early, gender sensitive/transformative action; and lead technical design and implementation and technical coordination of humanitarian responses

    Research, Evidence & Learning:

    Work with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) teams to carry out gender and power analysis, and conduct quality monitoring against international standards through participatory methodologies that promote gender equality and social justice (including child-friendly and gender sensitive/transformative methodologies).
    Contribute towards the creation of an organisational learning culture that promotes the use of disaggregated data, evidence and analysis and understands its link to quality and accountable programming.
    Contribute to organisational learning on gender equality, ensuring that learning and evidence generated from our programmes is distilled into succinct and compelling programmatic guidance and thought leadership, and shared within Country Offices and with our partners, as well as with colleagues in the wider regional and global gender equality community within Save the Children via Technical Working/Leadership Groups and Communities of Practice and externally.

    Ensure that Save the Children is influencing and learning from others to advance gender equality through Country technical coordination and networking bodies such as clusters and working groups focused on gender equality and gender-based violence or focused on specific thematic areas and requiring a strong gender equality lens (education, child protection, sexual and reproductive health and rights, etc.).
    Strengthen civil society engagement in national dialogues and policy processes for advancing gender equality and eliminating gender-based violence, including ending child marriage, through working closely with advocacy and child rights governance colleagues. Ensure that the diverse voices of children, girls and boys are equitably heard and represented across thematic advocacy work.
    Ensure the quality, clarity and consistency of technical components of internal and external reports, prioritizing and embedding gender equality across framing and content, working closely with awards, programme implementation and communications colleagues as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    Master’s degree in Women and Gender Studies or related degree with focus on gender equality in international development, social work, public health, sociology, anthropology or related area, or equivalent experience

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    At least 7 years’ experience (including field experience) providing technical leadership for the design and implementation of humanitarian and development programmes focused on advancing gender equality.
    At least 5 years’ experience of leading the design and implementation of humanitarian and development Disability Inclusive programmes will be an added advantage.
    Strong understanding of gender equality principles and practices, the gender equality sector, policy priorities and key gender inequalities impacting children in Kenya.  
    Proven senior level experience leading diverse, complex initiatives and virtual teams to achieve agreed objectives; including demonstrated experience designing, implementing and reporting upon thematic/cross-cutting strategies and/or policies
    Significant experience in gender equality training, capacity building and mentoring, and a demonstrated ability to make complex concepts compelling and accessible
    Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to intersectional gender and power analysis, and to the design, piloting, implementation and evaluation of innovative technical tools and resource to advance gender equality 
    Track record in successful business development/fundraising, designing and pitching gender transformative approaches, models and programs

    This includes:

    Determining case composition and ensures all refugee cases are cross-referenced according to established standard operating procedures.

    JOB OVERVIEW:
    The Water Quality Officer reports to the WASH Coordinator, and is responsible for ensuring the supply of quality water to refugees and host community members in Kakuma camps.
    The Primary responsibilities of Water Quality Officer will include overseeing the proper treatment of water at permanent and temporary treatment plants; supervision and monitoring of regular water quality test activities; set up of water quality data management system (data collection, entry, analysis, reporting); and conducting regular trainings to build the staff capacity on water quality. He/she will also ensure proper management of equipment, consumables and other resources under the program and reporting periodically to supervisors.
    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Ensure proper treatment/disinfection of water at treatment plants.
    Establish clear and straightforward management systems including Jar tests, Alum dosage, Chlorine dosage, chemical preparation, etc.
    Organize regular water quality data monitoring system and conduct regular water quality test starting from the Intake, to different stages of treatment plant, tap stands, storage reservoir/s, household level, etc to ensure refugees/host community are supplied with safe water as per UNHCR and international standards.
    Develop necessary formats and a database for regular water quality data collection, data entry, storage, analysis and report production.
    Raise purchase requests for procurement of equipment, reagents, treatment chemicals, and ensure the availability of all necessary items in stock for regular water quality test and operation.
    Ensure the cleaning of treatment plant units, service reservoir, and clean water wells at regular, scheduled intervals.
    Prepare the preparation of Operation manuals for the water treatment plants in Kakuma camps.
    Work with WASH officer and coordinate with other IPs on information sharing related with water quality and promotion of proper water storage at household level.
    Summarize and produce weekly, and monthly water quality report to the Area Manager to share to head office and UNHCR;
    Serve as the focal person for water quality issues for Kakuma camp and head of the water quality lab.

    Water Quality Control

    Collect water samples from selected water sources and from points of its usage i.e boreholes, households, water taps, schools and health facility
    Carry out physical and bacteriological analysis of drinking water for all the camps and water sources. Coordinate and manage lab testing.

    Relevant Experience

    Role duties and responsibilities:
    Strategic leadership

    Update Alert’s strategic approach for Kenya and the Horn of Africa Region. Ensure the programming strategy is aligned to organisational priorities, adapted to local and regional dynamics, and informs strategic decisions.
    Keep informed of up-to-date analysis and changes in the context, as well as key events and opportunities within the policy community.
    Nurture collaborative relationships with a wide array of stakeholders, including with government and political leaders, private sector, international agencies and institutions, civil society, national and international NGOs, and key bilateral and multilateral donors.

    Fundraising

    Update and implement a fundraising plan, identifying Alert’s peacebuilding niche in Kenya and the Region and key donors and partners to engage.
    With support from the Africa regional and global Resource Development teams, lead on programme design and fundraising for Kenya and the region, including developing relationships with donors, pitching ideas, and writing funding proposals and budgets.
    Proactively search for growth opportunities in the region, including cross-border and multi-country opportunities in the Horn of Africa

    Programme implementation

    Ensure Alert’s current programming in Kenya and Horn of Africa delivers impactful peacebuilding. Directly support project implementation and grant management where needed, including conducting field scoping and monitoring visits.
    Support project teams to coordinate and communicate effectively with implementing partners.
    Manage relationships with donors and consultants for the delivery of contracts.

    Human resources management

    Line manage staff and consultants delivering contracts, ensuring all staff have clear roles and responsibilities. Ensure diversity and equity in recruitment processes.
    Ensure appropriate structuring of team for efficiency as new projects come onboard. Lead on recruitment of new positions in the team, including identification of appropriate technical staff for delivery of consultancy contracts.
    Provide opportunities for staff to learn and develop, and monitor staff’s progress in capacity, knowledge, and insight.

    Financial and operational management

    Ensure compliance of finance, procurement and administrative procedures with local legislation and procedures as well as donor regulations.
    Oversee the programme budget and take corrective measures to minimise and/or fill identified gaps. Ensure realistic planning and effective implementation by project managers and teams to achieve budget expenditure targets, monitoring for variances to avoid overspending or underspending. Ensure that budgets and forecasts are realistic and accurate.
    Ensure submission of timely accurate monthly financial reports and other data to HQ, donors, and local authorities.

    Contribute to Alert’s organisational development

    As a member of Alert’s Global Leadership Team, contribute to organisational development, raising and engaging on organisational issues, policy development and staff development, regional strategic workshops, and organisation-wide discussions.
    Play an active role in the generation and dissemination of knowledge throughout the team and Alert as a whole, including engagement on thematic and regional discussions. Provide information to the Africa Regional Director and others as necessary on the programme progress and contextual updates.
    Take proactive steps to ensure that effective relationships are created and maintained with staff across the organisation.

    The Social Work Assistant reports to the Tushinde Children’s Trust Social Work Manager and ultimately to the Executive Director. He/She provides social work support to the team as needed. 
    Key activities: 

    To identify and locate children who are beneficiaries of Tushinde Children’s Trust, together with their supervisors complete a detailed case assessment. 
    To establish relations with the child’s parent or guardian, the school the child attends and other key players in the child’s livelihood. 
    To act as the liaison between the child, parent or guardian, the schools and Tushinde Children’s Trust. 
    To follow up the attendance of children in the school, their performance in class and their general health and wellbeing. 
    To follow up the children in regards to their development and health. 
    To make appropriate referrals for the caregivers and the children to access needed services such as health and child protection services. 
    To implement an effective individual case management system for the beneficiaries of Tushinde Children’s Trust. 
    To provide awareness raising activities and training to beneficiaries on needs basis; i.e life skills training. 
    To ensure to his or her best knowledge that the rights of the child are not compromised and that the child is protected from potentially abusive situations.
    Take lead on the daycare programme, by assessing and monitoring children’s development, identifying children at risk and linking them to quality health facilities; regular follow up of children who show no signs of growth improvement and train day care staff on good practices regarding child care and Development. 
    Engage our beneficiaries on the Tushinde programme Journey. 
    To provide management with a story and photographs of the achievements and challenges affecting Tushinde at least monthly. 

    Qualifications for Social Work Assistant. 

    Bachelor’s degree/diploma in social work and community Development , or a related field. 3-5 years of work experience as a social worker/assistant. 
    Must have exceptional attention to detail. 
    Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize. Must be a self-starter and driven. 
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
    Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities. 
    Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google product. 
    Must have a passion to work with vulnerable children and adults. 
    Must be able to work in a challenging environment. 
    Must be conversant with child protection policy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide technical leadership to program teams to ensure that there is innovative and contextually relevant integration of gender, disability and social inclusion into SHOFCO’s work plans and programming across the Youth Engagement project.
    Design and deliver realistic strategies and programming interventions to ensure the promotion of gender equality, disability, young women’s empowerment and inclusion of under-represented groups of youth that will lead to positive gender equity and social inclusion outcomes, including by strengthening existing tools, frameworks, methodologies and resources.
    Work with the project team focal points to facilitate process for establishing and gathering inclusion best practices in order to learn from and strengthen activities and ensure that the values are incorporated into youth programming and planning.
    Assist the Program Heads, Field Teams and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Teams to develop, track and report against gender and other inclusion indicators and disaggregate data by gender and the other inclusion parameters to analyze results.
    Assist the Program Teams in establishing and implementing inclusivity (gender-sensitive, disability, social inclusion) sensitive monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting systems, and processes across the programs.
    Design and conduct gender and social inclusion assessments, reviews and audits that can inform programming in a way that ensures young women and other under-represented youths are included in a meaningful way in SHOFCO Youth Engagement program.
    Design and provide trainings, as well as technical support and strategies to field program staff with respect to gender, disability and social inclusion activities.
    Prepare project materials together with the communication team that highlights SHOFCO’s youth gender, disability and social inclusion programming successes and lessons learned in every stage of the project cycle

    Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

    Relevant degree in gender studies, international development, social science, or a related field of study.
    A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience, with at least five in gender and social inclusion program/strategy design and implementation, including a mix of field and office program management.
    Demonstrated in depth knowledge in gender, disability and social inclusion theory and analytical work, and youth trends.
    Demonstrated experience and proficiency in managing programs that mainstream gender, disability and social inclusion and young people.

    Role:
    The “Fundraise and Project Implementation Volunteer” is a position under ITF’s international youth outreach and engagement initiative focused on European youth. Your role will be to accompany a project from start to finish, including fundraising and project coordination and implementation. The project will run under our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene activity in Kenya, with the end goal of implementing either a water kiosk at school or a public water station.
    The objective of the position and project is both to help communities in Africa efficiently obtain access to reliable, affordable, clean tap water and to provide you as a volunteer an opportunity to grow on a professional and personal basis through leadership development and social and cultural exchange with the youth of Kenya.
    Prior experience in a nonprofit position is preferred, but not required, as this position is aimed at building upon your skills and experience but also providing an avenue for growth.
    Duties:

    Fundraise

    Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs, and donation habits to understand how to position our organization to them.
    Brainstorming and creating new strategies to raise funds.
    Planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds.
    Creating marketing materials, like flyers and brochures, to be used for the promotion of fundraising events
