    Incumbent is responsible for a broad range of customs & shipping functions, to a very large Mission, that include managing official and personal effects shipments; diplomatic customs clearances; registration and licensing of personal and official vehicles; Posts’ $27M Tender of Services agreement; and advises post management and other USG agencies concerning diplomatic import-export regulations. Performs assignments for ICASS subscribers, and other U.S. federal agencies. He/she is directly supervised by Customs & Shipping Supervisor.
    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE:  

    At least 5 years of progressive experience in the Customs & Shipping, Expediting, Sea and/or Air Freight or Logistics is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:  

    A detailed knowledge of the host government requirements pertaining to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, customs and Kenya Revenue Authority requirements and procedures dealing with the shipment of household effects, POVs and U.S. Government equipment. Extensive knowledge in tax matters, logistics, and import/export procedures. Knowledge of capability and reliability of local transfer and packing companies.
    Knowledge of Transportation of Materials including export, import or customs regulations, and the transportation of materials across borders to move material efficiently and legally.  Knowledge of U.S. customs law.

    Education Requirements:

    Mandatory: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, supply chain management, organizational development, commerce, or logistics management is required.

    Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE: English Level IV (Fluency, reading/writing/speaking) is required (This may be tested). Level III (Good working knowledge, reading/writing/speaking) of Kiswahili is required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Must possess management skills with ability to organize, manage and track the numerous actions pending with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Customs, Kenya Revenue Authority and Contractors.  Must have interpersonal skills which allow the fostering of a good business relationship with all outside contacts associated with the program and ICASS members. Highly developed Customer Service skills are essential for dealing with Mission clients.
    Skill in Analyzing Complex, Abstract Written Information including written material such as Kenyan laws/regulations, and other legal documents so as to understand host government requirements, to perform successfully the registration, licensing, importation, exportations, etc., and, if needed, to advise clients.
    Skill in Time and Project Management including identifying resources, anticipating challenges, establishing milestones, defining beginning and end dates, so as to efficiently and knowledgeably accomplish projects.
    Skill with Computers using computer software programs including word processing, managing files/records/databases, and office computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    Requires highly developed customer service skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong customer service orientation.

    Your Role

    Labour and staffing: Lead, motivate and develop existing team of staff, maintain discipline and high staff moral to achieve targets, thus proper handling of produce/flowers and aircraft departures with minimal delays, and ensure that aircraft pallets are loaded, built and weighed in accordance with aircraft safety standards.
    Management of the night staff at night while ensuring safety in KN1 and KN2 premises, proper use of the equipment in the facility, and ensuring controls and proper documentation on all activities are maintained.
    Monitor and manage all aspects of employee, install performance and team work, contain and or reduce cost within the department.
    Oversee that all cargo for export has been screened and in compliance with airline safety standards. Coordinate cargo consolidation and pallet build-up inside the cold room ensuring it’s in accordance with airline safety standards and perform other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility required of the job.

    Your Skills and Experiences

     Degree/Diploma in logistics/Airfreight or forwarding applications.
     5 years’ experience in the Logistics Industry in airfreight procedures & forwarding applications & Airside safety.
     Good knowledge of Airfreight /Logistics Industry.
     Must be Computer literate.
     Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) will be an added advantage.
     Good leadership, people management and interpersonal skills.

    Roche in Nairobi is seeking a Logistics Analyst for the Diagnostics business. The role will entail ensuring the management of the best possible inventory holding and inbound logistics management to meet the required sales forecast at all times in accordance with relevant Global and Local SOPs and requirements.
    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide guidance to Product Managers on all aspects of inventory management in line with sales objectives to establish the best possible inventory forecast for each 15 month rolling period.
    Develop and implement inbound logistics strategies, policies and procedures that are relevant and meet global and local requirements and are adhered to through the implementation of appropriate controls to ensure inventory holding meets required sales forecasts at all times.
    Set, monitor and manage inventory holding levels against agreed KPI metrics (total rand value).
    Ensure all relevant inventory is procured/purchased in line with the relevant Global and Local SOPs requirements and within the agreed purchasing schedule (as defined by GSC).
    Ensure all import clearance documentation is prepared and sent to relevant freight forwarding/clearing agent within the prescribed timeframe prior to shipment arrival.
    Ensure advanced shipping notification (ASN) is prepared and sent to third party logistics provider (3PL) to facilitate the receipting process.
    Ensure 3PL receipt inventory onto ERP system within SLA requirements.
    Manage relationship between RDSA and 3rd party logistics providers (3PLs).
    Provide operational solutions to internal business partners that are aligned to business objectives, processes and requirements. 
    Oversee and/or generate management reports against inventory management and inbound logistics KPI metrics as and when required or as per SOP requirements.
    Ensure the accurate and timeous recording of data into relevant data management systems and records in accordance with relevant SOPs.
    Continuously drive inventory management and inbound logistics projects that enhance business processes and improved efficiencies and ensure implementation of agreed improvements in areas of responsibility. 
    Remain up to date with business, industry, product, SOPs knowledge regarding functional requirements within Roche local or global structures.

    You, as an ideal candidate, will have the following skills, experience and education:

    Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Logistics Management or similar.
    Experience: At least 5 years supply chain/logistics experience and experience of imports and exports, ideally on a supervisory level in a similar industry.
