    Job Description
    With technical support from the Safe Programming Assistant, the Safe Programming Intern will assist implementation of IRC’s protection interventions including client feedback mechanisms, data collections and staff trainings in Hagadera refugee camp.
    Key Responsibilities
    Program Activities

    Participate in the design, planning, execution, and monitoring of Protection sector activities.
    With the assistance of the Safe Programming Assistant, organize and deliver sensitization and awareness sessions on protection focusing on rights, entitlements, available services and channels for reporting complaints and feedback. 
    Monitor the concerns of clients accessing IRC services and highlight the specific needs of men, boys, women, and girls.
    Help in developing assessment tools in collaboration with Monitoring and Evaluation team
    Participate/conduct assessments (baseline, end line), data analysis and reporting.
    Collect feedback from various channels such as help desk, community leaders’ meetings, email and focus group discussions and ensure data is stored safely.
    Update the client feedback registry and classify the complaints and feedback.
    Contribute to writing reports emanating from internal assessments and client feedback registry.
    Support management of help desk staff, providing leadership, training, and guidance to ensure effective delivery of services.
    Contribute to development of regular activity/internal and donor reports on grant activities, indicators, and achievements.
    Help in design and development of Information education and communication materials for client feedback mechanisms.
    Update records of all protection activities

    Partnerships and Coordination

    Participate in IRC protection related meetings with government and other stake holders.
    Foster linkages and support referrals with service providers for the referral of clients.
    Liaise directly with communities, local institutions, and local partners on protection issues to ensure coordination and effective implementation of activities.

    Others

    Carry out any other relevant duties as delegated to by the supervisor.

    Key Result Areas

    Overall supervision and co-ordination of sanitation workers and other casual workers within the hospital to ensure adequate coverage and quality of work.
    Follow up PRs renovations and repairs with relevant departments.
    Ensure adequate supplys for distribution through timely store release.

    Qualifications

    Diploma in Community development, Public Relations.
    Added advantage – University Degree in Law, International Relations, Political/Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development or related field is an added advantage.

    Required Experience & Competencies:

    Knowledge of protection principles, norms, and practices
    Work experience with a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) on refugee rights, human rights, peace building and/or governance.
    Experience working with forced migrants (refugees, IDPs), vulnerable communities, conducting outreaches/awareness, referrals, assessments.

    Proven skills and competencies:

    Basic computer skills (Ms Office – word, excel, power point), report writing, training, community engagement, program monitoring.
    Ability to communicate well in spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
    Speaking local language is an added advantage.

    The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit an MSc graduate fellow to undertake research on estimating the cost of production of stabilates used in the Infection and Treatment Method (ITM) of immunization against East Coast Fever (ECF). The MSc fellowship position is funded through the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Animal Health and will be hosted under the Animal and Human Health program at ILRI.
    ILRI works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices in East, South and Southern Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa.
    The Position
    The Animal and Human Health program seeks to effectively manage or eliminate livestock, zoonotic and food-borne diseases that matter to the poor through the generation and use of knowledge, technologies and products, leading to higher farmer incomes and better health and nutrition for consumers and livestock.
    The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Animal Health is a collaborative program between ILRI, University of Nairobi, Kenya Medical Research Institute, Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization and the Washington State University, aimed at improving human nutrition, economic welfare, and resilience by removing constraints to cattle health and production in the East Africa region.
    The Feed the Future Innovation Lab is developing and improving diagnostic products and vaccines for East Coast Fever, improving adoption of animal health innovations and interventions, and quantifying their direct and indirect effects on human nutrition and well-being.
    The successful applicant will join a cohort of graduate fellows under the Innovation Lab and will focus their work on estimating the cost of production of stabilates used in the Infection and Treatment Method (ITM) of immunization against ECF.

    Key responsibilities:

    Eligibility:

    The Position:
    Internships are short-term academic training for young professionals who join ILRI for a short period (usually 3 months or less but can be up to 6 months in length) as part of their academic curriculum and are expected to resume their studies upon completion of their internship. The internship aims at helping students connect theory to practice, as well as nurturing young minds into livestock agriculture.
    Interns work five days per week under the supervision and mentorship of a staff member in the department or program to which they are assigned.
