    Job Purpose

    The overall goal of the trend analysis humanitarian intern is to update the Humanitarian Need in Sub-Saharan Africa: Planning a more Risk -Informed response Trend Analysis report produced in 2016 to inform a more proactive, risk informed humanitarian response in Sub-Saharan Africa now and in the future. It is envisioned that the document will support in strategy development as well as advocacy and fundraising efforts.

    Job Duties And Responsibilities

    The scope of this assignments will involve but not limited to:

    Explore what past Federation Secretariat spending on natural hazards, technological and human induced hazards can tell about humanitarian needs now and in the coming future.
    Explore efforts towards prediction of needs, looking at the initiatives that exist and consider what bottom-up data collection and collation could do within the political of aid.
    Analyse other external trends done on the same subject by other partners and organisations within the African Region documented in the Partnership Meeting in Lomé.
     

    In Order To Provide a Comprehensive Analysis, a Balance Range Of Qualitative And Quantitative (where Applicable) Methods Which Includes But Not Limited To The Following List

    Desk Review: Review of existing secondary information and reports relevant to the assessment. This will provide an analysis and discussion of facts and data within the assignment context. The literature will include among others contextual information, Emergency and DREF documents and other information on food security, livelihoods, security and socio-economic context as will be found necessary by the selected firm.
    Qualitative Data Collection: Key Informant Interviews and Interviews with field staff.
    Field Observations and Reflections for triangulation of information: Reflection and feedback sessions with selected team members in the field (or were in the field), Nairobi Based and other key informants.

    Deliverables

    Draft updated report of the Trend Analysis on Humanitarian Needs in Sub-Saharan Africa for the feedback and comments.
    Presentation of the Main Findings of the Trend Analysis on the Humanitarian Need In Africa
    Summary version of the final report to be shared with African National Societies (ANS), partner National Societies and other interested stakeholders.
    Final report to be publishes internally (or perhaps externally) I English outlining the following results:

    Key Trends within & without the IFRC spending on Humanitarian Response
    Key needs identified based on the Trend analysis within & without the IFRC.
    Key recommendations moving forward.

    Education

    Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology, Social Sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, Monitoring and Assessment and other areas relevant for the assignment.

    Experience

    2 years of relevant experience work in Social Sciences or related studies with specific reference to Trend analysis in Humanitarian needs and risk informed response.

    Knowledge, Skills and Language

    Knowledge and understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction approaches and methodologies including emergency response.

    The Counter Wildlife Trafficking Program (CWTP) Intern will assist the supervisor in the advancement of and AWF’s engagement in countering wildlife trafficking in Africa. The CWTP Intern will work with other Species Conservation and Science team members and other team members in various programs in Kenya to contribute towards overall goals. This position will report to the Legal Officer, Wildlife Law Enforcement and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
    Key Duties & Responsibilities:

    Assist supervisor to coordinate AWF’S Counter Wildlife Trafficking Programs.
    Help in compiling overall Counter Wildlife Trafficking reports for each project/grant he/she is assigned to implement
    Assist supervisor to organize Wildlife Judicial and Prosecutorial Assistance Trainings (WJPATs) and any other workshops, meetings or gatherings related to AWF’s Counter Wildlife Trafficking Programs.
    Participate in WJPATs, workshops and meetings.
    Document and prepare proceedings for WJPATs and workshops and minutes for meetings.
    Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Criminology, Criminal Justice or any relevant Social Science.

    The HFHI’s Africa Hub consists of a team of technical subject matter experts who focus on urban, land and housing policy programs, water/sanitation/hygiene (WASH), disaster risk reduction and response (DR3), and housing construction technologies. The team is also responsible for leading various issues related to housing, human and settlements interventions from an integrated services perspective, providing technical and strategic support to Habitat for Humanity national organizations and partners in SSA. As the Africa Housing Forum Intern, you will provide support to the Africa Hub. This position will work directly with Habitat’s Director of Program Operations at the Africa Hub and other cross-functional teams across the organization.
    You will learn from participation on a wide array of projects related to the Africa Housing Forum scheduled to take place from 21-23 April 2022.
    Primary Responsibilities

    Undertake research on housing and human settlement related topics
    Support the documentation of case stories from NOs and lessons learned in the implementation of various housing related interventions
    Assist in preparation of materials and information for Africa Housing Forum related meetings
    Support the development of media articles and products as appropriate.
    Knowledge management (such as support in organizing Africa Housing Forum files)
    Assist the organization of the Africa Housing Forum
    Writing concept notes and blogs (e.g., from papers presented during conferences)

    Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) is implementing AgriBiz, a five-year programme  supported by the European Union (EU) and Danida. AgriBiz seeks to address some of the  challenges inhibiting youth and women participation in agribusiness and stimulate the 
    growth of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the agricultural sector. The primary  focus of the program is to provide a range of services needed by women and youth-owned  early stage agribusiness enterprises as well as SMEs, Community Based Organisations (CBOs)  and Self Help Groups (SHGs). Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) is currently seeking  highly motivated individuals who will support the delivery of AgriBiz and the growing needs  within KCIC to fill the position of Interns in the following counties:

    Kilifi, 
    Isiolo, 
    Machakos, 
    Uasin Gishu, 
    Kiambu,  
    Meru,

    The Interns will support the assigned Business Incubation Hubs (BIHs) with business advisory  services to entrepreneurs (KCIC clients) to become bankable or investor ready through  client tailored technical assistance. 
    The main duties include supporting Start-ups, SMEs and Community Based Organizations by  providing advisory services, organizing business training, coaching clients and linking clients to financiers, markets and relevant resources. 
    Roles and Responsibilities

    Support the Hub Manager and Business Analyst at the Hub in the provision of business  advisory and financial analysis support to clients in the context of supporting  agribusinesses.
    Support the Hub teams to develop market feasibility studies, product development,  customer acquisition and revenue generation models
    Support the Business Analyst in Identifying business training needs for clients and  develop user friendly and practical training modules to close the identified needs 
    Assist in managing AgriBiz county hub client tracker, updating client information, and adding new clients as they are on boarded into KCIC incubation program.
    Assist in actively managing client feedback emails on a weekly basis with support  from Front Office Admin providing prompt feedback to queries regarding call for  applications, Rollout of county Hubs, and service offering under the Program. 
    Support in the sensitization forum and mobilization of the call for applications for the  3rd year of implementation for the Agribiz program at the county level.
    Support the Hub manager and Business Analysts with the evaluation process for total applications received, sharing a final shortlist of eligible clients for consideration into  the program. 
    Support in the development, printing, signing, coordination and custodian of letters  of agreement for newly and existing clients in the agribiz program at the hub level 
    Assist in mapping out due diligence visits for data verification prior to onboarding of the final clients
    Support the Hub manager and Admin. Assistant in planning and organizing of the mentorship bootcamps at the ATCs, in line with the roll out of the mentorship program  for county cohorts. Offer Logistical support to all planned events at the BIH
    Any other duties as delegated by the Departmental Managers and Hub Manager

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a Business-Related field
