    About The Role

    Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Data Entry Intern, will update and maintain information on our company sales database entering 100% accuracy on commission payment and approval of payments on the cash release system.

    Responsibilities

    Answer or make calls to the sales agents to address their needs, complaints, or other issues relating to sales and commission payouts for the purpose of improving the process.
    Respond efficiently and accurately to callers, explaining possible solutions, and ensuring that the sales agents feel supported and valued on the service provided.
    Build lasting relationships with the sales agents based on trust and being reliable
    Gather the information curated from sales agents relating to their commission payout discrepancies and ensure they are resolved within 24 hours.
    Work hand in hand with the Finance team to ensure payouts are accurate
    Approve all expenses booked on cash release as per budget allocation and ensure you question where the description is not clear or above budget.
    Interpret the data gathered for purposes of high-level decision-making.
    Understand and strive to exceed expectations when it comes to sales agents experience

    Proven data entry work experience, with the ability to deal to work on systems and data analytics software
    Degree in Data science/statistics/ other relevant fields
    Experience with MS Office, GSuite, good typing speed with accuracy/attention to details
    Independent thinker with proactive decision-making capabilities
    Comfortable with ambiguity and experience working in a dynamic environment
    Have the ability to handle pressure and keep a cool-temper
    Be organized, have great time management skills, and meet deadlines set.

    Your Role and Responsibilities
    IBM Research Africa is looking for a Ph.D-level intern to join their AI research group which is exploring Trustworthy AI concepts and anomalous pattern detection techniques. This unique position will provide an opportunity to work with developers and researchers based in Nairobi, Kenya while also engaging with hundreds of global researchers in the world’s largest industrial research lab.
    AI systems are increasingly being used to support human decision-making. While these systems hold the promise of delivering valuable insights across a multitude of applications, broad adoption of AI systems will rely heavily on the ability to trust their output. IBM Research is developing diverse approaches for how to integrate fairness, robustness, explainability, and causality concepts throughout the entire lifecycle of an AI application.
    Applicants should meet the following criteria:

    Currently enrolled in a Ph.D program from an accredited university in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Physics, Information Systems
    Demonstrable interest in Trustworthy AI concepts such as Robustness, Bias, Causality, Uncertainty Quantification, and Explainability
    4 years coding experience with scientific Python stack (numpy, scipy, pandas, matplotlib, etc.)

    Working closely with both the Alliance Programme and Communications team, this maternity cover role will manage and further develop our ‘Changemakers for Children’ online social network, help to build a global movement of local civil society organisations by identifying and using digital mechanisms and contribute to the development of Family for Every Child’s overall digital strategy.

    This is a part-time role working 28 hours a week, with the availability to work full time if needs be.
    This is a maternity cover role fixed term contract of initially 9 months (likely to extend to 12 months), with a salary of GBP £40 – £45,000 pro rata (or equivalent depending on experience and location).
    This role is home based and flexible working patterns are possible, with the expectation that regardless of time zone you will be able to work flexibly to support work with colleagues in different time zones including occasional work outside normal working hours. 
    Candidates must have the right to work in the country they are based – we do not sponsor work permits or contribute to costs.

    The ideal candidate will have experience of building a global movement of local civil society organisations, ideally in the development sector, identifying and using digital mechanisms, in order to support Family for Every Child to engage with our members and wider stakeholders to enable advocacy at national, regional and international levels, based on a wealth of locally led experience and credible evidence.
     
    You will be contributing to the development of Family for Every Child’s overall digital strategy therefore a demonstrable recent track record of rapid growth in subscribers and social media followers on a professional platform is essential, coupled with experience of using and developing different online communication tools and an awareness and interest in using a range of tools and mechanisms to support relationship management and case management.
     
    You will be an active listener with the ability to work across different actors, cultural contexts and technical areas to bring stakeholders together for a common goal.
