    Job Description/Requirements

     

    This internship is intended for students in their first or second year of an accredited full-time degree program in Computer Science or related technical fields, with an anticipated graduation date between 2023 and 2025. We especially encourage applications from students in underrepresented in the engineering and tech industry. For students graduating in 2021 and 2022, we encourage you to apply to the Software Engineering or Site Reliability Internship.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications:

    Currently in your first or second year of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
    Programming experience in either Java, C++ or Python.

    Preferred qualifications:

    Available for a full-time 12-week internship from 5th July to 24th September 2021.
    Returning to a full-time Bachelor’s degree for a minimum of two years after completing the Summer 2021 internship.
    Experience in programming outside of your university course.
    Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
    Ability to speak and write in English fluently.

    The Student Training in Engineering Program (STEP) aims to do just that. The 12 week program offers students the opportunity to work on a software project alongside another STEP intern, with the support of full-time Googlers and a mentor. You will also attend trainings to enhance your technical and professional skills.

    Participation in the internship program requires that you are located in one of the specific country locations identified for this role for the duration of the internship program. We will discuss and agree with you what country this will be during the recruitment process.

    Responsibilities

    Installing, configuring and maintenance of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications on PCs.
    Monitor, troubleshoot, and in any case report network downtime to respective Internet Service Providers.
    Serving as the first point of contact for IT Support over the phone or email through ticketing system across the countries for both local support and database Call Centre Solution Software Technical Support
    Perform remote and troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and answering pertinent IT questions. Walk the user through the problem-solving process.

    Periodic software checks and updates on workstations.
    Sourcing for computer hardware and accessories.

    Develop and update training materials for IT applications and onboarding.
    Bi-weekly reporting calls (Database and Helpdesk) with first line counterparts in the other countries.

    Requirements

    Your contribution
    The interns will:

    Support on the management of digital health project work plans working in conjunction with Program managers
    Support program and country teams to ensure that project activities are completed in a timely manner, communications on updates and feedback flow between the Digital Health and Monitoring team and program and country teams, as well as tracking budget allocation and burn rate
    Support the development of project documentation, training materials, and knowledge management resources, in conjunction with country teams and program managers
    Organize and coordinate program and country meetings and support circulation of meeting minutes and action points
    Provide general administrative support and perform other duties as assigned

    A lot of the work will involve undertaking day to day follow up with the health program and country teams to support digital project implementation.
