    Responsibilities
    Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.
    Under the supervision of the Information Technology Assistant, the interns will:

     Assist in configuring and setting up new machines.
     Assist in migrating machines to Azure AD.
     Assist in installation of applications and documenting processes.
     Assist in troubleshooting and providing support to user machines.
     Assist in basic wireless and wired network troubleshooting.
     Assist in physical movement of ICT equipment.
     Communicate with site supervisors on any issues.

    Major Responsibilities

    IT Support – Provide Level 1 and Level 2 Support

    Work with end-users or IT colleagues (or Service Desk) on resolving Level 1 and level 2 issues.

    Essential network services e.g., Printers, scanners, shredders, Audio Visual Conferencing applications etc.
    Verify and provide technical consultancy to procurement regarding purchasing spare parts for IT equipment and ensuring equipment purchased are of the right specifications and conform to the IRC standard specifications.
    Ensure data protection & backup systems are working properly (software & hardware) through BOX backup service.
    Provide level 1 and 2 support to end users tracking support tickets from a Helpdesk system or calls from any telecommunication channel.
    Assist with users e-mail account, creation, setup, archiving, termination, and distribution group management.
    Install, document, manage and support wired and secured wireless networks in the offices.
    In coordination with the IT Manager, put work plans in place for improving IT systems, Internet connections and local networks for better performance and benefits.
    Local Area Network, wireless network, peer-to-peer or client server architecture, as appropriate.
    Regular monthly reporting as per the report template
    Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree; at least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

    Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

    Knowledge and understanding in Networking and Infrastructure Technologies (LAN/WAP administration, Cisco Meraki environment, UNIFI)
    Knowledge and understanding of Office 365 Suite
    Virtualization expertise on windows platform environments
    Working knowledge in Cloud computing technologies and data storage i.e., BOX
    ITIL V4 fundamentals to administer and manage the service desk platform and improve SLAs and CRM will be an added advantage.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

    JOB PURPOSE:
    The main objectives of the position are to assist maintenance of basic hardware (e.g. PCs, LAN equipment), software and communication systems and perform ICT related administration duties (e.g. payment of communication bills). These tasks should be performed in accordance with MUA’s ICT Policy also in coordination with the ERP/Database administrator, System Administrator and Assistant ICT Manager.
    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Design, implement and manage University network architecture (LAN/WAN, connectivity, etc.)
    Assist with creation of policies and procedures.
    Ensure network security through appropriate controls, policies, and deployment of systems; perform regular audits
    Provide hands–on leadership in the configuration and maintenance of network hardware, DNS, DHCP, switching, routing and other essential network services.
    Own administration of Cisco switches, routers, VPN, and ASA/Meraki/Cyberoam devices (firewall rules, site–to–site VPNs, software updates, etc.)
    Monitor network resources 24/7 via centralized apps to pre–empt or respond to outages.
    Recommend, specify and manage the implementation of network equipment and applications.
    Ensure high availability and redundancy of data connectivity; implement disaster recovery and business continuity measures to support the University’s Business Continuity Plan.
    Apply expertise in optimizing network performance to address connectivity needs under challenging circumstances.
    Provide network documentation and training to organization and IT department.
    Develop and maintain strong working relationships with University departments/office managers, IT contractors and key vendors.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    University degree in an ICT related discipline.

    The successful candidate will:

    Ensure that PSI IT policies and procedures are always implemented and followed and maintain open communication and positive working relationship with staff.

    What are we looking for?
