    Purpose and Scope of Assignment 
    The ICT intern will be working with the ICT specialist and the rest of the technical team daily to learn and gain experience in various functions, such as:

    Developing business applications
    Assisting with technical review and testing of code

    Assisting with technology assessments and gap analysis for projects
    Helping to create detailed technical specifications and solutions
    Keeping technical documentation up to date
    Reviewing code for quality and adherence to coding standards
    Participating in unit testing and other forms of technical testing of business applications
    Troubleshooting and recommending fixes to issues or bugs in functionality
    Documenting work activities and creating test plans
    Assisting with application testing, user testing, and release management
    Staying up to date with emerging technologies and suggesting new ideas or solutions
    Providing quality assurance of developer artifacts and reporting key performance indicators
    Assisting with change management activities and customer workshops to gather business requirements
    Maintaining records of project files and sharing best practices and lessons learned.
    Undertake full documentation of components, configuration, and procedures for installing the ICT networks to ensure it conforms to UNOPS Design Standards and other International Codes and standards.
    Create and implement various ICT training programs involving different stakeholders

    Education

    A first-level university degree (e.g., Bachelor’s) in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Information Systems or related fields is required

    Experience

    Applicants are not required to have professional work experience.
    Applicants should have graduated from the above stated fields within three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship.

    Responsibilities

    Plan and execute a qualitative HCI research study (preferably an ethnography and contextual inquiry) with small and medium-sized businesses in Kenya.
    Conduct remote and in-person usability testing of prototype and document the findings
    Communicate research and development results to internal and external audiences in oral and written form, including peer-reviewed publications and patents
    Collaborate with research, product groups and other stakeholders
    Support the MARI team in related research and HCI work

    Qualifications

    Currently pursuing a master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Behavioral science field (with a focus on HCI) 
    Experience in qualitative HCI research and HCI methodologies including ethnography, contextual inquiry, usability testing, wizard of Oz etc.
    Experience contributing to research communities and/or efforts, including publishing papers at top tier conferences
    Ability to design and execute on a research agenda
    Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

    Responsibilities:

    Support in managing the Penda Points program: Oversee and maintain the Penda Points program. Track participant progress, handle queries and issues related to the program, and assist with testing, and implementation of iterations on the program.
    Data Entry: Review and verify the accuracy of data entered, making corrections as necessary. Follow established data entry procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency and completeness of information. Maintaining the data integrity by ensuring data is entered in a timely and accurate manner. Communicate with other team members to resolve any issues or errors found in the data entry process. Keep track of the data entered and maintain accurate records of the data entered and the source of the data. Adhere to data security and confidentiality policies and procedures.
    Data analysis in excel: Analyzing and interpreting data using excel, creating charts, graphs and tables to help decision making and support business processes.
    Support Penda’s wide range of software solutions while ensuring the highest possible TAT on any support queries. (level 1 support): Provide customer support for Penda’s software products, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
    Documenting processes and procedures: create and maintain documentations of various processes and procedures, usually in the form of workflows, flowcharts, and checklists. Provide clear and concise instructions for both internal and external system users.
    Training of users on new business processes: Assess the training needs of users and determine appropriate training methods, developing and delivering training materials and sessions on new business processes, such as software programs, workflows, and best practices. and working closely with IT and business teams to ensure that training aligns with overall business objectives.
    Creation of user guides/manuals: create and update user guides and manuals, on how to use a particular software, process or product, to help users easily understand and effectively use the product or service.
    Support a smooth transition of new technologies/services: assist in the planning, coordination, testing, and implementation of new technologies and services. This includes preparing users for the transition between technologies/processes, providing training and support during and after the transition, and monitoring and troubleshooting issues that may arise during the transition process.

    Requirements: 

    Degree or Diploma in IT, Computer Science or related field
    Strong problem solving, excel and analytic skills
    Experience working with PowerBI and end-users on new feature deployments, including testing and training cycles will be an added advantage.
    6 months to a year of experience in user support and at least 4 months’ experience working with any CRM will be an added advantage.
    Troubleshooting skills on both hardware and software.
    Technical proficiency in database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation will be an added advantage.

    JOB PURPOSE
     
    Under the direct supervision of the Forensics Investigations Officer, the intern will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. 
    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Currently enrolled in the university and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; or have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months, preferably in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Forensics Science or related fields.or
    Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s degree) from a recognized university, undertaking the programmes mentioned above, and have attended classes in the past 12 months,
    Fluent in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset.
    Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet, and other software packages. Proficiency in Excel and fair knowledge of pivot tables. Office 365 proficiency an added advantage

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    Assist in providing digital forensic services including recovery and acquisition of evidence from IT equipment, preservation and management of evidence using best industry practice during investigation and archiving;
    Recovery of corrupt data, electronic mail extraction and database examination
    Assist in performing regular data mining and data analytical procedures using appropriate tools to assist in investigations
    Perform comprehensive technical analysis and interpret computer-related evidence such as e-mail, various databases, and information stored on electronic devices using forensic tools and methods
    Manage the chain of custody process for forensic evidence, as well as evidence acquisition and analysis for the NBO office
    Carry on the implementation of e-Discovery, computer forensic investigations, and related services for large data sets
    Write scripts where required to automate technical processes
    Execute designed projects on SQL databases interpretation and evidence carving
    Collect pertinent information related to Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) cases utilizing WFP corporate database, including SAP, and available public databases
    Maintain Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) forensic systems and equipment by carrying out regular tasks, such as: backing up data, monitoring network and systems, and peripherals, running systems diagnostics, systems updates, patch management and systems optimization, replenishment of consumables, etc.
    Act as the IT focal point for the Nairobi Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) investigation team
    Carry out any other duty as instructed by the Forensics Investigations Officer/or the Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) management.
