    Software Intern

    The Software Intern will play an instrumental role in supporting the lead developer in various capacities to ensure smooth project delivery. The Intern will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, contributing to the software and data initiatives, and learning from experienced team members. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insight into the field of software and data development, and it is an ideal position for aspiring software developers. This internship program will run for 3-6 months.

    Project and Technical Support: The Software intern will be involved with tasks that

    Assist the Lead Developer in software development tasks including writing and debugging code.
    Participate in the architectural development and brainstorming sessions and contribute creative solutions.
    Provide support in managing project timelines, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
    Work closely with the technical team to understand and assist in the implementation of various projects.
    Help in the preparation of technical specifications based on business requirements.
    Aid in the identification and troubleshooting of software issues and bugs.

    Team Collaboration and Engagement: The software intern will be required to

    Communicate effectively with the team to understand and address their needs.
    Participate in team meetings, contributing valuable insights and feedback.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization.
    Engage in continuous learning by taking advantage of mentorship from the Lead Developer and other team members.
    Assist in maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date project documentation.
    Ensure proper recording and management of all project-related information.

    Minimum Qualifications

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
    Knowledge in software development and programming languages.
    Understanding of python stack with Django, Flask, etc
    Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    Eagerness to contribute to a high-paced, growth-focused organization.

    Intern – Digital Innovations

    Roles and Responsibilities:
    Duties will include but are not limited to support the Digital Innovation Pillar in:
    Research support:

    Conduct research assignments as requested by the Pillar Director and managers to inform strategy, pipeline identification, project proposal development, project implementation and fundraising. These will be largely desk-top based exercises (i.e. webpage scanning, literature reviews, report synopses) though may require some primary research (e.g. consulting with relevant stakeholders). Research themes will include, but not limited to: i. Carbon market development ii. Digital innovation in green trade iii. Digital innovation in fragile contexts and iv. Greening Africa’s agricultural transformation
    Stay abreast of developments in the digital innovation and carbon markets spaces as defined by the Pillar’s strategy and share insights regularly with the team.
    Work with the Assistant, Programmes to update the pillar calendar with any relevant external events including workshops, conferences and seminars.

    Coordination support:

    Provide coordination support for the Director Digital innovation in setting up meetings, workshops and travel;
    Support in processing local and international travel documents, advance requests, travel expense claims and travel expense accounting

    Other support as required by Director, Digital Innovation
    Preferred qualifications:

    Undergraduate Degree in Economics, Finance, Development Studies or any other related field

    Proficiency in written and spoken English
    Computer literacy
    Demonstrated keen interest in working in financial sector development
    Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs and to uphold and live the core purpose and values of FSD Africa
    Organisational, interpersonal communication skills and excellent attention to detail
    Ability to prioritise jobs effectively and the cross-functional teams on the project

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Skills & Qualifications

    Diploma/ Bachelors’ degree in Computer science or related field.
    1 year or less of proven work experience in the following:

    Be currently enrolled in a degree program in a recognized public or private educational institution of higher learning.
    The candidate can apply for an internship within one (1) year of having obtained such a degree.
    Provide a letter from their school confirming their enrollment or a copy of the above-mentioned Degree.

    Job Requirements:

    Must be proficient in basic design programs including Adobe Creative Suite, other design
    softwares and knowledge of video editing software.
