    We are hiring: The German Kenyan Cooperative Development NGO is looking for one qualified Kenyan candidate (f/m) for the position of a Project Accountant. Our development project serves the Kenyan cooperative sector and is implemently jointly with Kenyan keyplayers of the ‚Cooperative sector‘ and a German development agency for cooperatives.
    The Project Accountant is in charge of the following key areas:

    Carries out accounting on the basis of project accounting softwares (e.g. QuickBooks)
    Prepares monthly budgets and tracking variances, sends records to bookkeeping records to HQmonthly
    Drafts, prepares, updates and controls all kinds of contracts, controls their fulfilment, and initiates payments;

    The Project Accountant (f/m) will be based in the project office in Karen/Nairobi.
    Starting Date: as soon as possible
    Key requirements:

    University degree in financial management and accounting
    Be fully literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    Mandatory excellent knowledge in bookkeeping software ‘Quickbooks’
    Excellent knowledge of English orally and written
    At least 5 years of working experience as accountant

    DOL Project Accountant

    Reporting to the Finance & Support Services Manager, Kenya, the incumbent will be expected to provide financial support to Sightsavers supported projects in the field and will be based in Turkana County. The key tasks includes; facilitating financial transactions within Sightsavers control framework, generating transaction vouchers, maintaining accounting ledgers and cash books, preparing and submitting  financial returns , general field office administration/logistics, procurement, maintenance of office assets, filing, handling workshops logistics as well as travel logistics for staff and visitors to the project.
    The ideal candidate who should be a Kenyan national will have a minimum of a University Degree in finance/accounting, administration or equivalent with at least CPA II.  S/he should possess extensive working experience in a busy reputable private firm or NGO.     Key Responsibilities • Assisting in the Company discussions with various stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Government, banks, potential strategic investors, lessors, lessees, and suppliers;
    • Making longer term financial projections for the company, as well as short term financial oversight of the company;
    • Coordinating work of various advisors in the financial transaction;
    • Ensure that the company’s work streams in the financial transaction are appropriately managed;
    • Manage a weekly cash flow forecasting and ensure dissemination internally and to advisors;
    • Ensure that any key internal financial and operational developments are communicated to advisors; and
    • Prepare progress reports from various advisors and report to the Management and Board of Directors as required. This appointment is for a period of 6-12 months based on timelines of the ongoing financial and operational restructuring.
    Key Qualifying Criteria • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Strategic Management or a related field from a recognized university;
    • A Master’s Degree in a business or Finance related field would be an added advantage;
    • Relevant Professional Qualifications in CPA (K), ACCA, CFA, CIMA etc; and
    • Minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience in senior management preferably in a large organisation in the Aviation Industry.
    Critical competencies for success • Proven experience as a consultant who has delivered large projects in complex global businesses;
    • Strategic leadership exposure in a large organizations;
    • Experience in Finance Transformation Projects; and
    • Robust Project Management competence including: Stakeholder Management, 3rd party contractual negotiations, and managing other external consultants.

    The growth in scale and complexity of the project has meant that an additional resource is required to support the Government Payments (GPII) Project Manager.
     
    Based full time in Nairobi, the HSNP Project Support Officer will provide technical assistance in the delivery of various project tasks in order to achieve timely and efficient project progress and delivery.
     
    This will involve preparing the HSNP payroll and requisite documents in readiness for approvals and payments, tracking project expenditure, operational support as well as analysing payment related data on a monthly basis.
     
    We’re looking for a results-oriented individual with strong organisational skills coupled with a strong understanding of processes.
     
    You will need to be very highly motivated and able to simultaneously deliver a set of demanding and sometimes conflicting outputs.
     
    At a minimum you will have:

    Job Summary:
    The Project Accountant shall oversee project and organization accounts to ensure strict adherence to both statutory and donor compliance requirements and that sound financial practices with adequate internal controls are in place.
    Specific Responsibilities:
    Planning & Budgeting

    Provide input during the budgeting process for the assigned projects.
    Coordinate the planning and budgeting process to ensure quality and realistic budgets are developed
    Ensure Planning & Budgeting guidelines are adhered to
    Ensure compliance with MWENDO guidelines and other standards
    Conduct financial analysis for management decision making.
    Develop realistic cash flow forecasts in line with the plans

    Cash Management

    Ensure safe custody of cash and cheque book

    Cash flow management to ensure compliance with target low.
    Maintain an accurate and updated fixed assets register for the Programs/Projects.
    Ensure that assets are properly utilized and safe guarded.
    Any other duty as assigned by your supervisor.

    Human Resources and Administration:

    Establish and manage a comprehensive employees training program regarding staff tools, policies and procedures;
    In consultation with the management and the Executive Director, maintain and review all systems related to HR management in the organization (leave, payroll, employee files, job description, and staff appraisals).
    Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants.
    Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations.

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:

    Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Accounting or Finance, Business management/ Administration or related degree
    Minimum Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part II
    Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience:
    Professional membership with a recognized body is an added advantage
