    We are looking for an all round maintenance guy who can do both plumbing and electrical masonry.

    The position holder will be asked to, carry out corrective and planned maintenance duties of all school plumbing services and fixtures, carry out installation of new services and fixtures and identify materials including spares to be used in the day-to-day maintenance of plumbing services and new works.
    They will be tasked with ensuring repairs, maintenance and service of electronic equipment.
    They should have Certification as a Plumber & Electrician plus at least three (2-3) years’ experience as a skilled plumber and Electrician.

    NB: A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience is required in the same field with relevant academic qualification.

    Job Responsibilities

    Install and maintain Solar Water Heaters (SWH)  systems and components
    Review plumbing plans and specifications to determine the layout for SWHs
    Identify required tools and special equipment
    Select the type and size of pipe required
    Locate and mark positions for tank structures, pumps, connections and fixtures
    Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
    Assemble and install valves and fittings
    Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
    Test SWHs, pipe systems and fixtures for leaks

    Main activities

    Perform scheduled Installations of SWH systems and fixtures
    Apply all codes of installations, repairs and maintenance
    Check that all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
    Ensure all installations are properly sized, aligned and supported

    Job Description
     
    As an O&M Technician you will be a key member of the PowerGen Grid Operations team, focusing on supporting our East African customers who use electricity from our micro-grids each day. You will report to the O&M Manager and you will work closely with the entire Grid Operations team. What You’ll Make Happen:
    A more complete – but by no means exhaustive – list of responsibilities is provided below:

    Dealing with unplanned problems is a key component of the O&M Technician’s role. You’ll be responsible for addressing and solving unplanned problems on-site, which are either identified by system monitoring or reported by a customer (i.e. electricity outage, asset vandalism, reticulation issue, etc.).
    You’ll be responsible for creating work plans, budgets, expense reports, and resolution reports to support O&M trips.
    When dealing with unexpected issues, you should establish a comprehensive understanding of the issue through detailed fact-finding and implements an established procedure for correcting issue in timely fashion.
    You will work with various PowerGen stakeholders to identify an issue and solve it correctly. All unplanned maintenance activities should always be based on thorough root cause analysis to ensure that the failure does not re-occur.
    As an O&M Technician, you’ll also be responsible for preventative maintenance activities that are standardized and regularly scheduled activities designed to identify and prevent any type of negative consequence before it happens. This includes quarterly maintenance trips and regularly scheduled diesel generator refueling trips.
    You’ll be responsible for providing feedback in a standardized manner across various teams at PowerGen – including Installations, Grid Development, Procurement, System Design and Grid Operations – to enable long term improvement of design, installation, service and O&M.

    You Already Have:

    2+ years’ work experience in above-ground distribution, PV solar installations, and generators.
    Technical engineering background and a demonstrated ability to learn the technical aspects of the PowerGen business and communicate in that language.
    Valid EWURA license, Class D or above
    Fluency in Kiswahili and English, both in written and oral communications.
    Valid Drivers’ License.
    Intelligence and eagerness to learn.
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must.

    Role Summary
    In this role the individual will support UPS service activity in Kenya (Nairobi/Kisumu/Mombasa), with specific responsibility in UPS field operations in the geographical area of competence. Specific areas of interest are Power Quality installation with specific reference to Uninterruptable Power Supply.
    Essential Responsibilities

    Support the Critical Power UPS business with field service operations in Kenya (it is sometimes required to support nearby countries)
    Perform commissioning, startup & preventive maintenance at customer site. Timely prepare work reports reflecting activity done, advice to customer for future service, hours and parts spent on the job
    Capability to diagnose issues and repair GE UPS and GE Critical Power products; full understanding and knowledge of Power Quality installations
    Organize and be part of local customer support 24×7
    Support RMA process for single phase and parts return repairs
    Responsibility for tools and test equipment (maintenance and calibration)
    Capable to maintain small spare stock in his area to support customer in case of emergency
    Capable Write Customer reports, and –when required – attend customer meetings to support commercial deals
    Ensure proper communications and collaboration with product sales team and factory technical support

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree (Electrical/Electronics) from an accredited university or college with at least 3 years of experience in a Field Services role
    Detailed UPS products knowledge
    Experience in UPS installation, commissioning and troubleshooting
    Six Sigma would be a plus
    Local language/English fluency
    Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location

    Desired Characteristics
