    What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

    The successful candidate will efficiently handle all plant utilities that support the Nairobi Factory and Operations at BAT Likoni Road. The person we need will increase availability and efficient utilization of Steam, Water, Vacuum, Compressed Air, Electricity and Renewable energy (solar plant) at the site. A leader experienced in project management who  will work with the Engineering team to support CAPEX and OPEX projects planning and execution.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    Handle utilities assets within company guidelines.
    To support Engineering CAPEX and OPEX Projects planning and execution end to end.
    Identify and mitigate utility-related risks to ensure safety protocols.
    Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and utility regulations.
    Implement energy-saving initiatives and promote sustainability efforts.
    Ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operation of all utility services.
    Maintain continuous utility availability through preventive maintenance.
    Lead and optimize the utilities budget while reducing operational costs.
    Oversee development and upgrades of utility systems for current and future needs.
    Run vendor and contractor relationships to ensure quality service delivery.
    Monitor utility performance and report insights to improve efficiency.
    Lead and develop the utilities management team to meet organizational goals.

    Ability to take clear decisions in different and difficult situations and a high degree of innovation.
    Experience in contract (management & good negotiation skills) and in business reporting.
    Integrated Work Systems/Manufacturing Excellence/Continuous Improvement working  knowledge
    Minimum 4 years working experience in FMCG.

    Key Responsibilities

    Machine Operation:

    Make adjustments to production schedules in consultation with the Recycling Plant Manager and Supervisor based on changing priorities or unforeseen circumstances.

    Supervision and Leadership:

    Lead, train, and supervise a team of machine operators.
    Ensure that operators adhere to safety protocols and follow standard operating procedures.
    Motivate and support the team to achieve production goals and targets.

    Qualifications

    Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering,
    Proven experience as a machine operator in a recycling or similar industrial setting.
    Having operated an industrial production machine before with at least 3 process steps that required controlling of specific parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed.
    Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
    Ability to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Should understand: –

    Industrial Machinery process.
    Industrial Mechanical Techniques.
    Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) i.e.  Machine efficiency and Manpower Utilization.
    Ability to stand or walk for longer hours.

    Key Objectives: –

    Assist the design team on the Design and installation of Solar Power Backups systems, water heating systems and solar PV systems
    Prepare for all installations, site surveys and call outs by properly coordinating and allocating resources such us technicians and vehicles. Ensure preparations are done a day or 2 before actual installation dates to allow for early departure of the team to site.
    Diagnose faulty items brought to the workshop to find the root cause of failure, write a report and share with the client and concerned persons.
    Manage and plan for all service contracts. Ensure clients are informed of the visit 3 days in advance and ensure follow up of expired contracts
    Manage day to day interactions with clients either directly or indirectly through receiving both internal and external calls, mail and walk in clients in the technical department.
    Tie workflow to schedules and ensure timelines are met.
    Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
    Commissioning of solar systems.
    Follow all HSEQ guidelines for work safety, and actively participate in preparation meetings for upcoming projects.
    Should be experienced in estimating, budgeting, designing, and project managing Solar PV installation and maintenance contracts.
    Open jobs in CRM for every solar installation while ensuring jobs are closed as and when they are concluded
    Prepare and send site survey, hand over, service contract and troubleshooting reports to the clients digitally via email. Ensure there is constant commination with the clients in case of any changes in timings etc.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Energy Engineering and/or related technical field.
    Valid EPRA T3 Solar Certification.
    Valid EPRA Class B Electrical Certification or above.
    Basic Plumbing & Electrical Certificates will be an added advantage
    MUST have at least 2 Years’ experience in both installation, servicing and maintenance of Solar PV, water heating systems & Power Back-up Systems among other electrical engineering tasks.
    Having a Valid Driving License is an added advantage.

    Overview

    The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the Nairobi, Kenya site maintenance organization focused on all aspects of maintenance. This position is responsible for both equipment and facilities planned and corrective maintenance along with MRO storeroom management. The incumbent will deliver impact and drive breakthrough performance through the development and implementation of a strategic reliability plan in line with best practices such as Total Productive Maintenance and Reliability Centered Maintenance, focused on improving Safety, Quality, OEE, Cost and Sustainability.

    Responsibilities

    Development and execution of a comprehensive equipment reliability and facilities management strategies with clear steps targeted to drive site priorities.
    Build capabilities in the Kenya site maintenance team to create and drive a loss elimination culture that is focused on supporting the front line teams.
    Utilization of maintenance strategy and TPM knowledge to drive autonomous maintenance capability at front line.
    Developing performance goals, calculating methods, targets and reporting tools (often based on benchmarking and/or diagnostic findings) as well as a daily management system consisting of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly tactical and strategic maintenance reviews to drive high performance.
    Development and implementation of a robust maintenance planning and scheduling program at the Kenya site to drive equipment reliability
    Responsible for the identification and implementation of cost savings projects in Repair & Maintenance to reduce cost and drive value.
    Lead the site sustainability agenda in conjunction with the Safety / Health and Environment (SHE) department
    Partner with Plant Leader and Steering Committee to coordinate maintenance activities across site.

    Experience You’ll Bring

    Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred.
    Minimum of 5 years of maintenance organization leadership experience
    Demonstrated experience with establishing and executing a maintenance reliability strategy
    Demonstrated experience leading people and change management
    Knowledge of TPM / Lean Manufacturing and Planned Maintenance / Equipment Reliability strategies
    Demonstrated experience in SAP PM Module
    Experience in the FMCG / CPG sector working with automated processing and packaging equipment.
    Experience in a 24×7 environment
