  • Water & Habitat Regional Knowledge Manager

    Water & Habitat Regional Knowledge Manager

    The Water and Habitat (WatHab) Regional Knowledge Manager independently monitors the knowledge gaps and needs of WatHab operations (active in more than 40 countries with a staff of 650 engineers, technicians, and support staff). According to priorities, they propose and design new training courses or review existing ones with subject matter experts. They lead the evaluation and management of the information management tools and is responsible for animating the WatHab communication channels.

    Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

    Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of the overall knowledge management activities for WatHab in line with unit and institutional strategies. 
    Support the development and update of the career development and learning paths. 
    Conduct independently knowledge, operational and training gaps analysis with the coordinators to guide the activities. 
    According to priorities and training gaps analysis, proposes and designs new training courses or reviews existing ones with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and network of Expertise (NoE).
    Develop new learning opportunities on thematic files with SME & NoE by developing clear learning objectives, finding expert to develop the content, translating into self-pace or instructor lead training courses in iLearn and ensuring the development of capacity building enabling tools.
    Responsible for disseminating independently the knowledge management tools among WatHab staff, ensuring their consistent application to foster collective knowledge collection, management and sharing within the WatHab community.
    Proactively review and update, if necessary, the WatHab specific guidelines for the use of institutional Information Management tools and ensure their dissemination through the Knowledge Management focal points.
    Independently develops and maintains partnership relationships to build capacity and increase knowledge sharing.
    Involve external stakeholders and partners in training as participants or facilitators.

    What we will look for in your profile

    Bachelor’s degree in a technical domain related to public health engineering or related fields; A Master’s degree is an added advantage;
    A minimum of 10-12 year’s professional experience with at least 5 years of knowledge management experience;
    Experience in public health engineering in humanitarian context would be an advantage;
    Proven experience in team and people management and leadership;
    Knowledge of adult-learning approaches and practices, assessment and evaluation;
    Ability to produce high quality visuals and reports adapted to both technical and non-technical audiences and capturing key messages.

    Job Brief:

    To plan, organize and direct the maintenance, service and repair of the total company plant and equipment and provide supervision and direction to plant maintenance personnel. This includes managing the upkeep of all manufacturing assets, managing maintenance budget and resources and assisting in the design and installation of new systems.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Strategy Development and implementation

    Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
    Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Maintenance activities.
    Planned preventive Maintenance
    Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively
    Conduct plant mechanical operational tests and carry out preventive maintenance and repairs in accordance with the approved schedules and SOPs.
    Initiate closure of plant operations as per maintenance schedules and conduct repairs, clean and assess performance to ensure optimal utilization of the plant.
    Trouble shooting
    Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all equipment and facilities.
    Diagnose, test, and measure equipment anomalies / faults, locate faults and identify Root Cause for Corrective Action to ensure continued operations and availability of the power in the plant/ equipment for optimal utilization of the equipment.
    Optimise equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, and ensure the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    Routine Electrical /Mechanical Maintenance
    Perform periodic / routine plant inspections to identify mechanical breakdowns and initiate corrective action or report major defects in accordance with safety standards.
    Electrical equipment reconstructions
    Assess equipment efficiencies, dismantles, overhauls, assembles, tests, in accordance with manufacturers manual, procedure and safety protocols and returns them to operational use.
    Equipment Installations:
    Perform maintenance and repair works, install new/ replaces equipment/ appliances, systems, as per manufacturers specification.

    Plant and Equipment operation

    Monitor Equipment operation speeds and performance and align them with relevant parts to optimize plant performance.

    Mechanical Breakdown

    Assess equipment performance, conducts RCA, attend to equipment and initiate immediate CA /repair or replacement of broken or defective parts to return the plant into operations
    Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximising planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime.

    Training and Performance Management.

    Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
    Coach, train, mentor and evaluate the performance of the new hires and the team to ensure that they are aligned with the plant electrical/mechanical operations, procedures and policies and meet the agreed performance targets.

    Safety and Health Protocols AND risk Management

    Maintain compliance with plant electrical/mechanical procedures and safety standards by ensuring safe and health work environment.
    Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department and provide reports

    Production Reporting and Documentation

    Maintain records of all electrical/mechanical installations, alterations, and maintenance works or repairs or actions and reports to management for necessary guidance.

    Education and Key qualification Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
    Technical Expertise of over 5 years in electrical/mechanical installations, commissioning and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment.
    Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
    Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
    Proven knowledge food safety standards.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Complement the Plant engineer and the department at large where necessary.

    CANDIDATE’S PROFILE

    Post Secondary diploma in mechanical engineering/any related field.
    At least two (3) years proven experience in a similar role preferably in mechanical/technical work ie, trouble shooting.
    Edensive knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
    Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostics.
    Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problemsolving abilities
    Proficiency in Microsoft office tools eg. Word, Excel, PowerPoint is desirable but not essential
