    During this job placement, time will be allocated for theoretical learning as well as practical programming and software development. After the apprenticeship program, candidates will have the chance to join Elewa’s and/or its partner companies’ elite circle of technical consultants with dedicated growth paths depending on interests.
    Successful candidates for this program shall be engaged in several projects as part of our technical Team, who are based in East-Africa, the US and Western-Europe but serve clients that are spread in different parts of the world and bear the responsibility for the stability of the products we support.
    Summary of Roles & Responsibilities

    You will, in stages, develop increasingly complex solutions to solve technical needs around a range of industries.
    You will develop and maintain a single codebase that will be deployed to both Web, Android and Desktop applications.
    You will develop backend solutions that understand and process language and that offer a rich user experience over text.
    You will develop and apply advanced mathematical and technological reasoning skills that can be applied practically towards solving some of these challenges.
    You will develop and apply advanced principles of software architecture and SOLID development.
    You will develop and apply an understanding and applicative use of a wide range of different technologies and software development techniques and practices that are cutting-edge but not widespread in the current Kenyan market.
    You will work collaboratively within a team of peers and technical consultants in modern organizational structures to quickly iterate on and output solutions for our customers.
    Perform any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the management from time to time and which are related to the achievement of Elewa’s mission and vision.

    Responsibilities

    Examining, inspecting and processing firms’ and individuals’ licenses issued by the Renewable Energy Department
    Review of environmental impact assessment reports for renewable energy projects.
    Undertaking technical audits for renewable energy projects and preparing reports on the same.
    Review of test reports for regulated appliances and coming up with recommendations for the Licensing Committee’s action.
    Review of energy audit reports submitted to the Authority by licensed energy auditors and providing an opinion on the quality of the report to the facility and the auditor.
    Undertaking quality control energy audits for sampled energy audit reports.
    Preparation of renewable energy registers.

    A typical day for you might include the following

    In this Internship role you will have the opportunity to working under the supervision of experienced engineers and develop hands-on experience in the following areas:

    Develop BFD, PFDs, and Mass balances
    Perform hydraulic calculations to determine line sizes, pump specifications, and control valve sizing
    Perform heat transfer calculations to determine heat exchanger duty requirements and sizing
    Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for different processing units, including details such as line sizes, control valves, isolation valves and control logic
    Participate in and leading P&ID review session
    Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies
    Create close-out reports for P&ID review sessions and HAZOP sessions
    Contribute to reviews of vendor documentation and other discipline documents
    Develop linelists and setting hydrotest boundary limits
    Create operating guidelines and start-up/commissioning procedures
    Interact with other disciplines and vendors to ensure design accuracy
    Asbuilt drawings in the field
    Support construction efforts

    Skills and qualifications you’ll need  

    An Engineering degree in either Process/Chemical/Civil or Mechanical.
    Good understanding of chemical engineering concepts specifically fluid dynamics and heat transfer models
    Experience developing or contributing to control philosophies and operating guidelines
    Experience developing or contributing to the sizing of processing equipment such as pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, piping systems, and control valves
    Detail-oriented with demonstrated capability to analyse processing systems efficiently and rapidly
    Ability to look beyond the most obvious solution to provide engineering designs that are safe, practical, reliable, and cost effective
    A learning mindset and interest in taking on board constructive feedback from senior engineers in order to develop their process engineering expertise while delivering solutions that meet design requirements and stakeholder expectations

    We currently seek a Production Planning Intern who will support the planning team in daily, weekly and monthly forecasting of our product lines.
    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Gain proficiency in SL production planning for KuzaPro and Evergrow
    Reduce weekly plan versus actual variances to a maximum of 5%
    Recommend at least 2 new production planning tools by Q2 2020. Commence implementation of one of the recommended systems
    Expand the weekly/monthly/yearly production forecasts to include briquettes production and utilization
    Expand the weekly/monthly/yearly production forecasts to include EG production
    Maintain a CAPA resolution rate >90% for immediate corrective actions

    Skills and qualifications you’ll need

    Bachelor’s degree in engineering. These include chemical, mechanical, process, industrial engineering fields
    Experience in statistics or related certification (stats) will be an added advantage
    Previous experience in a production facility/company will be an added advantage
