    GENERAL SUMMARY: The Information and Communications Technology “ICT” Officer plays a critical role in the successful operations and administration of the Flying Kites office and Leadership Academy (FKLA) in Kenya.

    He/she is responsible for the overall development, deployment, and effective use of technology systems by employees, students and teachers, aligned with program and business needs.
    He/she manages all aspects of the day-to-day utilization of ICT systems, including support, troubleshooting, asset management, maintenance, data security, user training, vendor management, and the enforcement of ICT policies and procedures.
    The ICT Officer is further responsible for all aspects of the technology procurement process in Kenya, from the identification of needs and compliance with budgeting requirements to the installation, ongoing maintenance, updating and management of inventory.
    The ICT Officer serves as the primary organizational liaison with service providers and IT vendors, ensuring a consistently high level of service and value.
    The ICT Officer also liaises directly with the Flying Kites Boston team to ensure systems compatibility across country lines, clear reporting, and secure recordkeeping.
    The role requires exceptional organizational, technical, and communication skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential duties” are those that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation or additional staffing support.

    Works collaboratively and flexibly with the Director of School and other department heads to ensure ongoing understanding and management of all ICT-related needs and expected levels of service.
    Maintains organizational effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing ICT systems.
    Responsible for the deployment, installation, support, disposal, and periodic updates of all ICT systems, including workstations, servers, cabling, and all other IT hardware and software.
    Maintains all assets and systems in good working order; ensures all maintenance issues and breakdowns are resolved and repairs or replacements are enacted quickly and cost effectively.
    Recommends and documents ICT strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organizational and program outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating future requirements.
    Creates and follows preventative maintenance schedules for all IT resources, including periodic checks of key configurations (local backups, anti-virus and security updates, firewalls, etc.).
    Monitors ISP service and internet speed/strength; takes appropriate actions to ensure consistently high connection levels.
    Collaborates with Director of School and other FKLA leaders to introduce and deploy technology for students in keeping with organizational, curricular, and country objectives.
    Collaborates with Finance Department to manage all mobile SIM cards and credit plans for efficiency and proper use.
    Collaborates with HR Department to develop and enforce employee onboarding and offboarding procedures and data handovers from departing personnel, including all electronic files and email backups.
    Ensures data protection and security across all systems by developing and enforcing standards for user passwords, ensuring appropriate use of systems by employees and students, establishing and monitoring access permissions, internet content, and creating a protocol for emergency access to all systems by organizational leadership.
    Preserves assets and information by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
    Liaises with Boston office to ensure email creation, management and removal.
    Procures software and hardware consistent with business needs and budgets, ensuring all proper licensing, updating and recordkeeping.
    Develops and enforces ICT policies, procedures and training requirements.
    Schedules and delivers regular classroom training to students and staff, providing assessments of user skills.
    Receives, tags, and registers all assets, clearly documenting the deployment of assets, monitoring their use, and conducting periodic spot checks to ensure accuracy of inventory.
    Identifies and proposes new systems and uses of technology to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the organization’s ability to meet programming goals.

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
    Education and Work Experience:

    Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Engineering or related field
    Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably within a Kenyan School environment

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Fluency in English and Swahili.
    Well-developed and mature professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all organizational levels.
    Exceptional quality management and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.

    This is a middle level position for this opening. To meet client’s complex desktop ecosystem demands in accordance to set standards that meet the global business objectives. This position should deliver IT training coordination in the programme. The candidate shall also carry out technical support activities.
    Description:
    REPORTING LINES:
    The position reports directly to the Service Delivery Manager and is under general direction of the Head of IT .
    BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY:
    Assist on the development of specifications required to meet budgetary constraints.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Analyze user needs in the programme and come up with effective IT learning proposals. (User needs can be identified through incidences on
    servicedesk, roll out of new IT solutions, performance reviews and user engagements)
    Liaise with managers and interview employees at all levels to identify and assess IT training and development needs
    Compile and present skill gap information.
    Develop annual training Schedules for IT Training in the programme.
    Develop IT Training curriculum in collaboration with subject matter experts.
    Monitor and manage training logs, progress reports and feedback .
    Coordinate with technical training providers to develop learning solutions that address identified skill gap areas.
    Coordinate and facilitate IT E-Learning deliveries.
    Facilitate Basic IT Training in the programme.
    Provide IT Training reports and follow up continuous improvement schemes.
    Develops knowledgebase for all IT Services.
    Attend to incident, service requests and escalations from IT Support Technicians.
    Participate in execution and support for all IT Projects .
    Participate in change management processes in the environment.
    Configure Server services, with direction from System Specialists.
    Implement and support system security procedures in the environment Troubleshoot and diagnose user devices and implement solutions or liaise with specialists for problem resolution.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Degree in computer science / BSc in IT.
    4 years’ experience supporting users in a 500+ networked busy environment, in a similar position.
    Experience of coordinating IT Trainings in an organization of 500+ computer users is must.
    Customer service and communications skills is mandatory.
    The candidate to show evidence of being able to manage intermediate and advanced desktop configuration and troubleshooting capability.
    Support experience of Windows 10, Office 365, Active Directory and cloud solutions.
    Experience of supporting Mac OS users will be an added advantage.

    DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

    MCSE qualifications are required
    Certification in IT Training coordination is desirable
