    Job Summary:

    The CARE PrEP Country Study Coordinator (SC) is responsible for coordinating all study activities in Kenya and working with the Country PI and site teams to ensure adherence to protocol and procedures and effective operations across all study sites. This position involves supervising a team of 2-3 Clinical Research Assistants based at study sites, liaising with in-country CATALYST staff and local stakeholders engaged in the study, and ensuring smooth operations at all study sites. The position is full-time, based in Kisumu County and requires periodic regional travel to study sites for supervision and international travel for study-wide coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical research coordination and basic data management.

    Responsibilities:

    Develop/review and monitor country/site-specific operating procedures, including for data collection and quality control, in line with the study protocol
    Participate in development and review of study materials, including informed consent forms and data collection forms, to ensure appropriate contextualization and accurate translation local languages.
    Database testing to verify that error checks and programming is correct.
    Co-organize and participate in study-related training, coordinate and lead refresher trainings or training of new staff throughout study period.
    Coordinate with and manage all submissions to local IRBs, including amendments and protocol violations; liaise with US-based CARE PrEP Clinical Research Manager (CRM) on US-based IRB needs.
    Obtain all necessary local approvals to conduct the study, including informing facility management of participating CATALYST sites and, as applicable, local leaders about the study and ensuring smooth operations between the CATALYST and CARE PrEP study.
    Oversee the recruitment, training and supervision of data collectors on site, including planning logistics for successful study implementation.
    Monitor study progress (recruitment and retention of study participants; form completion; data quality) across all sites.
    Manage study data collection equipment, including the loading, updating, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic data collection forms, assigning equipment to data collection staff.
    Ensure that data management plans and equipment used for the study adhere to all local and contractual regulations (e.g. national data privacy regulations, data sharing agreements, equipment purchased is U.S government compliant).
    Ensure identification of and complete and accurate reporting of SAEs, social harms and protocol deviations or violations according to IRB and protocol-specific requirements
    Provide advisement to research assistants on good clinical research practices and be able to perform study procedures, as needed and delegated based on clinical experience.
    Work with sites to resolve problems; escalate to the Country PI and CARE PrEP CRM as appropriate.
    Complete field reports for the CARE PrEP CRM on a regular basis and liaise with the CRM through email and meetings as requested to report on study progress and coordinate study operations.
    Work closely with the US-based data management team to ensure completeness and quality of data, including follow-up of data queries and discrepancies.
    Participate as needed in data analysis conversations.
    Travel regularly between study sites to perform study operational and oversight duties.
    Travel for regional protocol meetings as needed.
    Perform any other duties related to the study.

    Required Qualifications And Experience

    Must have at least 5 years’ experience in research coordination
    Experience with clinical research.
    Experience with data collection in RedCAP or similar database system; data management experience preferred.
    Experience supervising research implemented using electronic data collection platform preferred
    At least 4 years of supervision/mentoring experience
    Clinical background preferred but not required.

    Learning and project quality

    Donor focal point for Monitoring & Evaluation components of projects
    Participate in project Kick-off meetings, Quarterly Review meetings and Close-out meetings in order to highlight cross-project components aimed at replicating good practices and strengthening synergies between projects or programmes
    Regularly present key Monitoring & Evaluation findings to the Senior Management Team for further development
    Support DRC’s aim for further strengthened integrated programming and actively propose ways of achieving this using Monitoring & Evaluation finding

    Position Overview: The Research Analysis, and Learning Director (RAL) will be responsible for TIS3’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) approach, incorporating collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA) into all program, operations and networking work, research and analysis. In consultation with USAID COR and COP, the RAL will be overseeing the research and analysis approaches and products of the project. In particular, the RAL will ensure TIS3 continually learns from all activities and will institutionalize a learning agenda with robust feedback loops throughout the activity cycle to ensure the program takes advantage of all successes and failures and uses strategically timed pause and reflect sessions to capitalize on windows of opportunity for activity, cluster, and program learning. The RAL advises and assists in the design, development, and oversight TIS3 research activities. This position requires utmost tact and sensitivity as the products are often sensitive in terms of the conflict dynamics and analysis of partner Somali organizations and/or individuals. The RAL is a key personnel position and is required to spend up to 50% of their time in Somalia. In short, the RAL Director focuses on the following four key pillars of the RAL portfolio:

    Creating a system for iterative program learning through various internal learning processes, (i.e. grant management processes, the learning agenda, as well as the Pause & Reflect sessions), which will strengthen the project’s thought leadership in the sector.
    Strengthen the project’s research and analysis capabilities through contributing to ongoing Political Economy Analysis (PEA), a thoughtful research agenda, and translating the evolving trends for programming decisions and vice versa.
    Establishing and/or supporting effective Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning systems, including internal and external Data Quality Analysis, through internal project reporting, working with the MEL supplier, and DT Global’s corporate Learning and Innovation (L&I) systems and processes.

    Tasks and Responsibilities:

    Education & Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelors’ Degree in international development or another relevant field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
    A minimum of six (6) years’ direct experience in Research, Analysis, Monitoring and Evaluation, and/or Learning as to inform programming
    Prior experience on USAID-funded programs. Prior experience with OTI-funded projects or projects with a grants component highly preferred.
    Experience in developing countries, including in conflict-affected environments; experience in Somalia a plus.
    Demonstrated skill with program design, including assessments, proposal development, indicator selection and MEL planning.
    Demonstrated skills and experience with facilitating program design processes, results frameworks, theories of change, and overall program logic.
    Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with operational research and analysis methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative methods.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of 6 years of work experience in providing advisory on inclusive business development, gender and social inclusion, and inclusive innovation preferred.
    A strong understanding and experience in managing M&E processes and data for adaptive management.
    Experience working in Agriculture and preferably Climate Change and private sector development. 
    Excellent skills in data management and learning tools/systems;
    In-depth knowledge of results-based management (RBM), and theory of change (TOC) management, including baseline and disaggregated data (gender, income group, etc.) and their usage in implementation and M&E

    Supervise the design and implementation of the project’s MERL trainings for project partners.
    Conduct process and result evaluation to address key disability mainstreaming systems issues and generate innovative ideas to test; facilitate learning activities like pause and reflect or feedback loops to learn and adapt implementation approaches based on findings.
    Oversee development and quality of technical deliverables, including required reports.
    Produce and present data analytics reports to clients and partners.
    Represent the project in external forums to share and promote the learnings of project activities.

    These are your qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in international development, evaluation research, statistics, data analytics, governance, or a related discipline required; master’s degree strongly preferred
    Minimum 5 years of experience designing and implementing MERL strategies with a focus on governance or inclusion indicators for similar donor-funded programs in developing countries/Kenya
    Technical expertise in program monitoring and evaluation using mixed methods, preferably with experience evaluating in innovative ways and evaluating program innovations.
    Prior experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research in relevant fields and contexts, and strong analytical skills (e.g. using statistics software, relational databases, and/or other software for analysis, visualization, and reporting).
    Experience with systems thinking approaches and the use of systems aware measurement approaches.
    Experience in utilizing digital solutions for data collection and analysis preferred.
    Proven track record of developing and managing USAID-compliant MERL plans and past experience with adaptive learning approaches.
    Experience working in a leadership role and engaging with a diverse set of stakeholders.
    Strong communicator, excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
    Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
    Understand english both oral and written communication skills is required, strong preference for proficiency in a second language (Kiswahili).

    The Role

    FFA is looking to hire a full-time M&E Associate to support the ideation and execution of the internal evaluations of our Academy program. The successful candidate will be part of our newly-formed Embedded Impact and Learning team, and will report to the Research and Learning Manager while working very closely with the Academy team to conduct the evaluation of the program and also support various formative and summative research and learning activities to inform future Academy program strategy.

    Responsibilities

    Study design – You will collaborate with different stakeholders, within the Academy team and the Embedded Impact and Learning to identify research objectives and craft a strategy for measuring and evaluating the impact of the Academy program on these areas.
    Tools design: Goal oriented survey design and testing of data collection instruments and revision.
    Contribute to the Design of Data Architecture: Develop a map of all data flows (related to monitoring and evaluation) that will be deployed in the Academy program and create a seamless design for how the data will be collected.
    Data quality control: You will ensure high data quality standards to ensure our impact evaluation is based on accurate and up-to-date information.
    Data analysis: You will contribute to the analysis and triangulation of qualitative and quantitative monitoring data and share findings with the Academy team and senior leadership for learning, accountability and decision-making purposes.
    Literature Review: Conduct ongoing literature review to understand best practices on hybrid and e-learning entrepreneurship programs and feed it back to the Academy design through recommendations.
    Data Visualization: Create BI dashboards to show the progress of the implementation of Academy programs in real time (monitoring progress) as well as early outcomes as the data comes to support day to day business decisions.
    Reporting and Recommendations – You will compile M&E results in different reporting formats on progress of project implementation, evaluation outcomes, and recommend corrective actions to the various stakeholders. Develop shareable/actionable knowledge products (e.g. slide decks, research factsheets, one-pager overviews, case studies, etc) for internal and/or external use.
    Reflection Sessions Coordinate internal reflection and learning sessions with FFA Academy team and senior leadership at the end of each cohort training to capture insights and ensure that learning gets shared and taken up within the organization.

    Candidate Profile

    Minimum of three years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a similar role
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, international development, or other relevant field
    Strong command of research and evaluation and/or impact measurement methodologies and approaches, including theories of change, logic models, evaluation frameworks, survey research/ lean data approaches, etc
    Experience deploying a variety of qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methodologies and tools to help organizations (preferably in the business of training/capacity building) measure/understand their impact
    Demonstrated ability to use data and evidence and apply learning to drive improvements in performance (exploring interesting questions isn’t enough; you have to be able to identify the areas where research and evaluation will lead to an improvement in FFA’s impact/ways of working)
    Appetite for collecting and analyzing data to produce meaningful reports to diverse stakeholders and audiences
    Project management experience, including running multiple projects simultaneously
    Excellent oral and written communication skills to deliver presentations and reports to a range of stakeholders in a clear, inspiring and confident way
    Strong relationship management skills; the ability to establish effective working relationships with people at all levels, internally and externally
    A self-starter who thrives in an autonomous role, with excellent prioritization, self-organization, and execution skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment against deadlines
    Strong critical and creative thinking skills; a proactive approach to solving problems
    Experience in data visualization tools like Power BI, google studio, QlikView or Tableau is a plus
