    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Review clients background information and interview clients to conduct a complete mental health assessment to determine needs and level of risk
    Apply mental health assessment to determine clients needs and discuss recommended services and support options for the client and their families
    Develop plans of actions, implementation, and follow-up of the clients goal plan
    Provide crisis intervention and emergency services for clients with health and safety concerns when it is determined that additional intervention is required
    Teach clients, families and/or significant others a variety of coping mechanisms and strategies focusing on a healthy lifestyle including self-care, breathing techniques, and healthy eating
    Liaise with mental health and addiction services and resources to provide necessary support and assistance
    Assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources including medical, housing, employment, daycare, and other services
    Maintain current progress records on clients and document intervention plans and outcomes
    Discuss any difficulties or problems and formulate solutions for improvement
    Support the clients during all stages of recovery from usage to abstinence
    Develop discharge plans in partnership with the treatment team
    Complete clients documentation and data requirements in accordance with hospital, Ministry of Health, and departmental standards

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Diploma in Counseling psychology from a recognized Institution.
    Evidence of training in addiction counseling/chemical dependency counseling
    Served a similar position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
    Must be registered with counselors and psychologists Board

    As part of our commitment to advancing our impact and ensuring sustainable solutions for the women and girls with disabilities whom we serve, we recognize the need for a holistic and forward-looking strategic plan. The last strategic plan, which served as a guiding framework, was developed in 2018/9. This Ability Trust is now seeking the services of a qualified consultant to facilitate the development of a comprehensive five (5) year strategic plan and a review and enhancement of the organizations existing policies. 

    Over the years, This Ability Trust has evolved since the creation of its existing policies, facing new challenges and opportunities and it is with this acknowledgement that we are seeking to revisit and refine our policies to ensure alignment with current best practices, regulatory requirements and our strategic objectives. The strategic planning and policy development process will involve collaboration with key stakeholders, staff and board members to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive approach that reflects the values of our organization.

    Objectives:

    Develop a 5 year strategic plan that outlines clear goals, objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    Conduct a thorough review of the organizations existing policies and provide recommendations for improvement and alignment with the strategic plan.
    Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions to gather input and insights for the strategic planning process.

    Responsibilities:

    The Strategic Planning Consultant will be responsible for the following:

    Conduct an initial assessment of the organization’s current situation, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
    Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and refine the organization’s mission, vision and values.
    Facilitate strategic planning meetings to identify strategic priorities and develop action plans.
    Analyse existing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices and legal requirements. 
    Provide a comprehensive report with recommendations for policy enhancements and strategic initiatives.  

    Deliverables:

    A draft 5-year strategic plan document outlining goals, objectives and KPIs.
    Stakeholder engagement report summarizing key insights and input gathered during the process.

    Timeline

    The consultant is expected to complete the assignment within three months from the start date.

    Required Experience:

    An Advanced degree in a relevant field such as business administration, strategic management, organizational development, or a related discipline. Professional certification in strategic management is highly advantageous.
    Proven experience in facilitating the development of strategic plans for non-profit organizations with demonstrated success in leading the process from initiation to implementation. 
    Expertise in policy analysis and development with a track record of reviewing and enhancing organizational policies in alignment with strategic objectives and legal requirements.
    Familiarity with the non-profit sector including knowledge of funding mechanism, donor expectations, social impact considerations, as well as relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
    Strong facilitation and communication skills including the ability to convey complex strategic concepts in a clear and understandable manner to diverse audiences
    Strong analytical skills to assess the organizations’ internal and external environment, identify key issues, and formulate effective strategies
    Project management skills to ensure timely and successful completion of the strategic planning process.

    Consultant – Offsite Facilitator and Organization Development Specialist – Remote/Kenya

    Objectives: 

    We are a fully remote global team, with 15 people across multiple countries (Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Colombia, México, Panamá, US, Sweden). We are meeting as a team for a series of in-person workshops in Kenya (exact location TBD) in May and are seeking a part-time consultant to support us in the design and facilitation of 1 to 2 days of in-person workshop sessions focused on one or more of the following: team culture, trust building, conflict management and giving and receiving feedback. We are a collaborative team, and are looking to co-create the specifics of the workshop sessions with the selected consultant.           

    Consultant Activities:      

    We expect the consultant to collaborate and openly share with the MCV Management team on a regular basis progress, findings, and next steps.      

    At a high level, the consultant should carry out the following activities:      

    Planning phase   
    Co-create a project plan for the planning, drafting, execution, and follow-ups of the offsite sessions. Sessions will focus on topics such as culture, team-building & trust, ways of working, providing effective feedback and specifics of the sessions will be co-created with the selected consultant.   
    Design and Prepare workshops and sessions  
    Complete preparation and planning for the workshop: identify key objectives of each session, design agenda, prepare materials. This will be done with input and regular updates to the MCV Management Team    
    Facilitate sessions in-person  
    Facilitation of in-person team workshops (1-2 days) in Kenya between May 6 through 10.   
    Flexible to adapt and respond to team dynamics while ensuring we reach key objectives  
    Post-offsite follow-ups   
    Provide key insights and recommendations for next steps based on workshops.   
    Complete workshop follow-ups and evaluation of workshop as needed.  

    Deliverables:     

    The consultant will deliver the following:      

    Week-by-week 2 month plan for input gathering, preparation, delivery, and follow-ups from the workshop   
    Detailed workshop agenda, with up to 2 days of sessions including framework to use, rationale for using it, definition of key objectives of each session and proposed activities and methodologies to meet objectives   
    On-site facilitation of workshop agenda   
    Short document with key insights and recommendations. To be submitted maximum 7 days after the workshop concludes   
    Evaluation of workshops and follow-ups   

    Required Experience and Skills:     

    Minimum of 10 years relevant professional experience in organizational development, with specific experience on culture, people, and values-related topics   
    Preferred experience working with early and growth stage organizations   
    Preferred experience working with organizations operating in private equity, venture capital, or  impact investing; or with startups  
    Preferred experience working with global multicultural and diverse teams  
    Strong communication skills; written and oral fluency in English required  

    Other Requirements     

    We have a high preference for candidates based in Kenya but are open to global candidates. If required, we will provide travel, accommodation, and per diem according to Mercy Corps policy to the selected consultant as needed   
    The consultant will be required to facilitate the workshops in-person in Kenya (exact location TBD) for 1-2 days between May 6 and 10  

    Timeframe / Schedule:      

    The consultancy will begin in March 2024 and will have a 3-month duration 
    The consultant will be required to join our team offsite in-person in Kenya between May 6 through 10 2023 (exact departure and arrival dates to be determined – consultant not needed on site for full 5 days)
    The consultant will be required to facilitate up to 2 days of sessions at the offsite.
    MCV will work with the consultant to determine availability, work schedule, and ways of working

    YOUR MISSION:

    Key role:

    The Physiotherapist’s (PT) main responsibility is to manage and support the delivery of physical and functional rehabilitation services in collaboration with Occupational Therapist (OT), Prosthetic and Orthotic Technicians (P&O), and Psychosocial Workers (PSS). The Project Manager (PM) directly supervises the position, with an indirect link to the Regional Rehabilitation Specialist (RRS) for technical and quality-related support.
    The PT work directly with children with Disability and their caregiver, accompanied by the CBR worker, in service delivery, home follow-up, and family education in continuous rehabilitation care, ensuring the achievement of goals and skills to improve activities of daily living (ADL).
    The PT supervises the work of the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) workers, ensuring the highest quality performance in service delivery and follow-up in the community. At the same time contributes to the capacity building and skilling of the CBR workers while working on the project.

    Responsibility 1: Delivery of direct services to people with Disability in the refugee camp with Community Rehabilitation Workers following an integrated approach – 40%

    Perform individual assessments, planning, and treatment of people with physical and functional disabilities, including prescription, and training on use and maintenance of assistive devices.
    Conduct monthly inventory and prepare a timely request for rehabilitation consumables and equipment and submitted to the PM.
    Re-assess, evaluate, and report case progress using rehabilitation outcome measure tools.
    Provide home exercise training to beneficiaries and their caregivers with the CBR workers.
    Review case file for re-assessment and discharge according to the degree of functional improvement and achievement of rehabilitation goals.
    Supervise the center-based and community workers in providing rehabilitation and social integration of persons with disabilities and their families/caregivers in the community.
    Follow-up and support the activities of CRW in the center and the community
    Participate and contribute to the monthly/quarterly interdisciplinary case meetings organized with PM and RRS.

    Responsibility 2: Support the sustainability of learning and skills to the community rehabilitation workers and partners – 25%

    Conduct training needs assessments, design, development, facilitating training, and follow-up learning in the field and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in delivering basic rehabilitation training to all community workers.
    Organize peer-to-peer training on basic rehabilitation skills with the beneficiaries and family members through the community workers.
    Coordinate with the PM and RRS to validate training and other project technical requirements used in the project activities.
    Coordinate the recruitment, training, and mentorship of new refugee CRWs supporting the project.
    Mentor and coach CRWs on the job and submit (simple) performance evaluation reports.

    Responsibility 3: Coordination and collaboration with partners in quality service delivery and disability inclusion. – 15%

    Participate in service and partner mapping to coordinate and refer cases within and outside the refugee camp.
    Contribute to preparing annual international celebration calendars with the team and partners.
    Coordinate and promote synergies of HI rehabilitation workers and those of other partners for smooth implementation of activities and better teamwork at the community level.
    Represent HI in the refugee camps’ different thematic working groups (Child protection, Health, GBV, Shelter, WASH, and Youth Protection) and provide feedback to the PM.

    Responsibility 4: Contribute to HI project quality standards – 20%

    Contribute to the development and management of the budget allocated for rehabilitation activities.
    Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual technical reports on physical therapy-related progress, indicators, and data.
    Support documentation and sharing of impact/success stories and best practices to promote learning
    Conduct and submit monthly/quarterly performance evaluations of the CRW.
    Participate in the data collection and reporting process by ensuring tools are used correctly by the Therapist and CRW.
    Participate in the project’s overall implementation and achieving objectives, anticipating any responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager.

    YOUR PROFILE :

    Educational background and experience

    Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
    With at least 4 years of work experience in a private or public institution or NGO with experience in management and supervision
    Experience in delivering community or home-based physiotherapy services

    Technical Competencies

    Knowledge of Rehabilitative Services and Assistive Technology and current trends
    Knowledge of Kenya Refugee Response Framework
    Knowledge of disability law/policies in Kenya
