Essential Skills
The ideal candidate must be able to effectively lead diverse project teams and work independently, adeptness in building client relationships and securing new business. Should be proficient in designing and executing training programs, mastery of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, a demonstrated inclination towards fieldwork, outstanding interpersonal skills, leadership acumen, decision-making proficiency, problem-solving expertise, people-management abilities, and exceptional spoken and written English for documenting the progress of microfinance programs.
Description
The Senior Manager – Banking and Financial Services will have responsibilities that will include:
Contribute to the achievement of MSC’s objectives by delivering exemplary client work and supporting development of the Banking and Financial Services vertical
Provide service to clients by responding to the needs of specific projects and situations
Lead tasks or work streams within an assignment, focused typically on technical support to clients across various departments
Provide on-going support and guidance to staff within their area of responsibility to ensure that they deliver their roles to an appropriate level of quality and according to the approaches and frameworks set out by MSC.
Build a strong knowledge and expertise in core areas of MSC’s client delivery work and specialize in the work of Banking and Financial Services vertical.
Detailed responsibilities:
Business development
Conceptualize programs and scope funding for the same from international development agencies, multilaterals, and governments
Lead concept and proposal writing for projects (are aligned with MSC vision) on diverse opportunities to enhance financial, social, and economic inclusion through inclusive banking and financial services approaches
Relationship management with key stakeholders including funding partners, clients, policymakers, and government agencies
Author or co-author thematic publications to be developed from field experiences (focus notes, briefing notes, or blogs)
Actively engage in marketing activities and participate in digital media dialogues (blogs, discussion forums etc.)
Lead and support technical design and delivery of projects
Develop, lead, and deliver technical projects on banking, financial services, and insurance projects for social, financial, and economic inclusion to include:
Strategic review, business planning, and financial modelling for banking, financial services, and insurance service providers
Product and solution development, pilot testing and review, rollout and operational integration
Process re-engineering, digitization, and automation
Design and implement alternative channels and technological solutions for digital finance by for banking, financial services, and insurance service providers
Digital transformation of banking, financial services, and insurance service providers
Monitoring and evaluation of inclusive finance projects
Assessment of insurance, micro-pensions, and social security programs
Training and capacity building of participants from banking, financial services, and insurance service providers
Business execution
Participate in project set-up and de-briefing meetings
Lead and deliver on projects and assignments
Execute projects with the utmost diligence, attention to detail, and focus on quality
Make presentations of outputs of consulting projects to senior management of clients, policymakers, and government ministries
Review reports and presentations developed by practice group team members
Lead report writing and data analysis
Develop linkages with key staff of the client to gather project-related information
Review training courses delivered, curriculum developed, and technical assistance provided to clients
Contribute to the development of MSC’s toolkits and other publications
Professional development
Conduct “Quality of Delivery” (QoD)/feedback assessments with team members right after assignment execution in line with the quality control guidelines
Assist and support development of other staff by providing guidance and advice where appropriate
Build internal capacities of the staff on banking and financial services, emerging technologies, and their potential to the inclusive finance sector
Take ownership of self-development by acquiring skills and knowledge to add value to the organization
Requirements
Desired qualification:
Master’s degree, or other relevant professional qualifications in line with the areas of specialization.

Ability to lead assignments and teams and work with minimal supervision
Ability to develop client relationships and win business
A strong field orientation and proven interpersonal skills
Leadership skills, decision-making skills, problem-solving skills, and people-management skills
Excellent spoken and written English
