Perform the duties of secretary to the board

Ensure rehabilitation of the sand harvested sites and other environmental damages associated with harvesting and transportation of sand within the County
Carry out licensing and registration of all persons who wish to engage in any sand utilization activities and maintaining such registers as may be necessary.
Continuously support authority’s operations and administration of Board by advising and informing board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting Board’s performance evaluation.

Conservation Managing Director

Grains and Horticulture Value Chain Director
The Grains and Horticulture Value Chain Director is expected to lead the development and management of all interventions across the grain and horticulture value chains, including leading programming on feed production and marketing. This position will be required to lead a team of technical advisors. The location for this position is TBD.
Serve as the senior field-level manager and representative with primary responsibility for coordinating, planning, and implementing technical interventions across the selected grain and horticulture value chains.
Support the Chief of Party in all aspects of program management including ensuring integration and coordination across consortium teams and the establishment of a “one team” approach to implementation.
Lead design of program interventions that identify and develop new market opportunities that seek to upgrade the potential of selected grain and horticulture value chains.
Develop value chain strategies for working with producers and enterprises to develop their capacity to identify and respond to business opportunities in the selected grain and horticulture value chains. These strategies should facilitate private sector engagement and investment among various levels of agriculture value chains including but not limited to producer, trader, processor, and wholesaler levels.
Ensure that program strategies facilitate strategic, commercially viable partnerships between value chain actors, especially within women and youth.
Manage a team of technical advisors that provide technical leadership in areas related to improved aggregation, post-harvest handling and storage; market linkages; business enabling environment; and other interventions that promote value chain competitiveness and food security.
Promote strong relationships with USAID, the Government of Kenya, other donor, multi-lateral, and non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
10 years’ international experience with successful value chain development projects with significant management responsibility. Familiarity with grains and horticulture in Kenya is preferred but not required.
10 years’ experience on projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries.
Past supervisory experience is required.
Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches.
Experience working in or providing capacity building services to the private sector is desired.
Master’s Degree in a field relevant to agricultural development such as: agricultural economics, marketing, post-harvest handling, agribusiness management or related fields.

Senior Livestock Technical Advisor
Project Description:
The senior livestock technical advisor will provide technical leadership and support to the assessment and design of dairy and livestock market system development projects. The position will play a key role in pursuit of strategic new business opportunities aligned with ID’s new dairy/livestock and New Business Development strategies and ID’s overall strategic goal. This includes opportunities with USAID, USDA and potentially other funders/implementing partners.
The initial focus of this consultancy is assessment and design of new livestock/dairy projects through 2017. There is potential for the consulting position to transition into a full-time dairy/livestock technical expert position. This role would include:
Driving the dairy/livestock strategy;
Providing technical support to field projects in implementation;
Supporting related strategic partnerships;
Collaborating on design and implementation of shared value corporate partnerships; and
Overall thought leadership in dairy/livestock.
The long-term position would be contingent on performance and new funding secured.
Primary Responsibilities:
Research/assessment of the dairy/livestock market systems in priority countries;
Prioritization and analysis of key economic opportunities for inclusive growth including
Financial modeling of on and off-farm livestock-based business opportunities
Economic opportunities and barriers to women and youth engagement in on and off farm business opportunities
Estimation of economic losses due to spoilage/waste/animal mortality
Evaluation of meat, milk, egg and live animal supply chains
Systems for quality-based payment programs
Identification of change agents and lead firms followed by development of partnerships; with these local/national/international public and private market actors;
Design of technical approaches and specific interventions to support inclusive market; development that benefits smallholder producers as well as other actors in the system, particularly climate smart approaches;
Identification of innovative, evidence-based approaches to dairy/livestock market; development, and potential scaling up strategies; and
Proposal writing in areas of technical expertise;
Management of in-country consultants that may be recruited for additional technical support in new program development and existing program support
The initial consultancy might also include some limited support in areas including:
Technical backstopping of current programs. This may include:
Review of and input to technical manuals;
Participation in quarterly meetings with project staff;
Provide in-country technical assistance and/or develop SOW for external technical assistance; and
Remote and occasional in-country capacity building and training.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in networking with donors, government officials and the private sector;

Advises EAC partner states through reviews and the provision of technical advice and capacity development on agricultural marketing and agri-food value chains development:
Performs the analysis of selected agricultural sectors/food chains, including food security and food safety issues and assesses the feasibility of agribusiness investment projects;
Analyses the constraints and opportunities related to agribusiness investment options with emphasis on the functionality of markets, support services, trade policies, market institutions and organizations, risk management systems and private sector engagement;

Qualifications for the Value Chain Development Specialist Job
Advanced university degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or other relevant discipline related to Agricultural or Agribusiness Development
Five to seven years of relevant experience in the areas of agro-industry systems development, agri-food industry economics and management or related field
A good knowledge of international and regional trade, and/or regional integration, preferably in the Eastern Africa region;
Extensive relevant experience working in similar donor funded regional projects, preferably USAID-funded projects, in the Eastern and Southern Africa region;
Extensive relevant knowledge of value added transformation and technologies of food and agricultural materials through processing, packaging, handling and storage, including product quality aspects within food and commodity chains;
Extensive relevant experience in working collaboratively with institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders in a multi-country setting;

Under the direct supervision of the Live2Africa Project Officer and the overall supervision of the Chief AnimalHealth Officer, the Animal Health Expert will be responsible for the overall operations relating to Animal Health Systems and Services Delivery:
Carry out an assessment of the status of implementation of recommendations of Performance ofm veterinary services missions, gap analysis missions, veterinary legislation missions and support national veterinary services develop and implement strategic plans
Support member states develop and utilise TADs and zoonoses preparedness and response capacities ;
Assess AU-IBAR achievements in promoting OH and develop and pilot innovative approaches to OH sustained capacity utilisation and intersectoral collaboration
Develop, pilot and broaden models of coordination mechanism for animal health services delivery and control of TADs and zoonosis.
Develop, pilot and broaden models of public private partnerships in the animal health system.
Support implementation of policies and compliance with legislation including roadmaps for regional harmonisation.
Backstop the ARIS manager in the analysis of member states animal health reports and the drafting of the Pan African Animal Resources Yearbook
Contribute to the monitoring and analysis the state of animal health in Africa and the generation of annual policy briefs

Requirements for the Animal Health Expert Job
Master’s Degree in Veterinary epidemiology with a 7 years’ experience as Animal Health Expert in none-state or government institutions or international organizations dealing with animal health and a minimum of 3 years in senior management position. A PhD in Veterinary epidemiology will be an added advantage.
A University Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary science and a certification in epidemiology in lieu of the
Master’s Degree in Veterinary epidemiology is accepted with a 10 years’ experience as Animal Health Expert in non-state or government institutions or international organizations dealing with animal health and a minimum of 5 years in senior management position may be accepted.
Experience in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of animal health servicesdelivery programmes.

Dairy Coordinators
This is a five year programme (2013-2018) that aims at creating viable smallholder coffee farming systems to stimulate the coffee sector in East Africa to regain its vitality and offer long-term business opportunities. 4S@Scale is implemented through a partnership between the Kenya Biogas Program, (KBP) , Sustainable Management Services Limited (SMS) and Coffee management Services (CMS) with technical and financial support from SNV-(Netherlands Development Organization) and the Hivos Foundation respectively.
Promotion of the dairy value chain among the coffee producers is one of the program activities (anchored on the income diversification activity, Result area 5). Capacity development in the dairy value chain is one of the strategies within the program to increase milk production (quantity as well as quality). It is against this background that the programme seeks to recruit Dairy Coordinators to roll out Biodigester activities in the participating coffee cooperatives.
