Agriculture Risk Profiles Coordinator
We are looking for a qualified person to coordinate and lead the development of national and sub-national baseline studies on agricultural risk and climate-smart agriculture (CSA), also known as Agricultural Risk Profiles and CSA Profiles. These Profiles are developed in close collaboration with teams of experts, donors, national government partners, private sector and other in-country stakeholders. The position will also provide thought leadership on new directions for the profiles to evolve, particularly related to agricultural risk management, financial services for agriculture (e.g. credit and insurance), and climate finance. Position Summary
The Senior Assistant Soil Fertility Expert will work under the supervision of the Soil Fertility Expert and will assist in training, preparation of training materials, evaluation of field trials, statistical analysis, literature reviews, and synthesis of information on soil fertility and plant nutrition. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Regional travel will be necessary from time to time to visit IFDC projects in various countries in East and Southern Africa, including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique, and possibly DRC, Tanzania, Zambia, and Ethiopia. Duties and Responsibilities
Take the lead role as senior field agronomist for multiple crops in multiple geographic regions.
Manage the productivity team of agronomists to ensure crop production in all our projects meets and exceeds company targets based on inputs from investor partners.

The farm manager is responsible for the daily planning, organization, supervision and administration of activities on the farm. Program Description: TechnoServe’s Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality Program is a partnership with Nespresso SA program is designed to introduce the Nespresso AAA program to Africa in Ethiopia, Kenya and South Sudan. The overarching goal is to reduce poverty of 200,000 smallholder coffee farmers in Kenya and Ethiopia through increased coffee incomes as a result of improved yields, quality and market access to Nespresso’s AAA supply chain. The Nespresso AAA Program will build on the natural synergies with the BMGF-funded Coffee Initiative in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Position Description: The Agronomy Business Advisor shall support the implementation of strategies that will enable clients to achieve sustainable increases in coffee quality and yields.
Key roles and responsibilitySensitize cooperative leadership, smallholder coffee farmers and local stakeholders on the TechnoServe coffee project work.
Implement existing strategies to provide assigned cooperatives with agronomy training and with structured post-training farm visits to improve adoption.
Train and advise farmers being assisted by the project on coffee agronomy best practices with the objective of helping them to improve coffee yields and quality.
Train, mentor, coach and support assigned Farmer Trainers on all technical and operational aspects of their work and in relationship with farmers. This includes assisting them to set performance goals, continuous assessment of performance and giving feedback.
