    The COP will focus on developing and overseeing the implementation of strategies across Associate Awards, will lead coordination and development within the overall USAID Kenya LWA portfolio and will provide technical supervision of livestock market systems activities.
    Responsibilities

    Provide overall leadership and technical direction for the program, including leading the strategic planning, implementation and reporting
    Provide overall technical vision, leadership, and project management
    Manage and supervise work of all international consultants, local project staff and subcontractors
    Ensure technical, schedule, and financial performance of the project in accordance with USAID rules and regulations, the scope of work, and annual work plans

    Qualifications

    Advanced degree in business, agricultural sciences, livestock, animal health and science, livestock management, or related field
    Minimum ten years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multi-faceted international development projects, preferably in Africa
    Proven Chief of Party experience on a large, complex USAID-funded contract of comparable complexity and scope
    Ability to collaborate successfully with host-country government officials, international donors, and private sector stakeholders
    Extensive management experience and strong leadership and communication skills required
    Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
    Strong communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to productively interact with a wide range and levels of organizations (producers, government, private sector, NGOs, and research institutions)

    We are looking for a driven, creative and independent person to join a high-performing, flexible team as an East Africa Agronomist. You will support PAD agronomy operations and scale-up activities in Kenya and East Africa by strengthening PAD agronomy expertise and by developing the content of PAD mobile information campaigns.
    Responsibilities
    The East Africa Agronomist will be responsible for the following main tasks:

    Provide overall agronomy expertise and information to the PAD teams in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and any new East African countries where PAD may expand to;
    Develop, refine and revise agronomic content of mobile information campaigns implemented by PAD or by PAD’s partners (including Governments, NGOs, etc.);
    Gather and compile scientific evidence on key agriculture topics to better inform the design of mobile interventions in PAD countries in East Africa;
    Support on-going projects in Kenya (MoA-INFO SMS platform, One Acre Fund projects), in Rwanda (One Acre Fund projects), Uganda (UCAT project), and Zambia;;
    Support any new projects that may require agronomic expertise in East Africa;
    Support and supervise PAD Agronomy Associate in Kenya as well as other (junior) agronomist staff within the team, including interns;
    Provide support in managing relationships with existing partners across multiple projects; and
    Support partnership development activities by identifying and meeting potential partner organizations in East Africa.

     
    Qualifications and experience

    Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy or a closely related field

    About This Role
     
    The Harvest department is one of the newest teams at Komaza and is expected to grow dramatically over the new few years – hiring dozens of staff, investing in mechanization, adding new teams in Kwale county, and providing some support to our pilot in central Kenya. In this role you will build, lead and grow our harvest planning and operations. You’ll work closely with company leadership to develop and refine the strategic vision for the Harvest department for the next 3-5 years and prioritize activities to achieve this vision. You’ll develop, implement and optimize the management systems, training materials, and SOPs to enable significant growth of Harvest operations. As Harvest Director, you will directly report to the VP Forestry Operations.

    What You Will Do

    Harvest OMS: Build the harvest operations management system (OMS) which will allow the harvest operations coordinators to manage dozens of staff and thousands of farms remotely.
    Team: Build the team needed to design our harvest systems and execute them at scale.
    Harvest Systems: Build efficient, effective systems to ensure all farms are thinned/clearfelled/coppice clearfelled at the right time and at the right $/CBM.
    Harvest Data: Work with our technology and growth modeling teams to collect, validate, store, analyze and report the huge volumes of data needed to managed thousands of wood lots across Kilifi and Kwale counties.
    Harvest Innovation: After building the basic systems above, take the lead on designing step-change improvements or modifications to our harvest systems.
    Harvest Execution: Manage, inspire, coach, and problem-solve with the team to hit forest management, CBM, and cost per CBM targets.

    Position OverviewThe East & Southern Africa Agribusiness and Inputs Advisor (AIA) will lead agribusiness activities related to fertilizers and input sector development. The AIA will support national and regional projects in East & Southern Africa as well as support IFDC’s strategic priorities including new business through the development of concept notes and contributing to proposal development. S/he will be based at IFDC’s Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya with regular travel to support regional projects as needed.     This position is responsible for developing and executing agriculture strategy. This involves market research, managing and developing the agribusiness insurance line by generating new business and improving performance of the existing business. The position is also responsible for ensuring the enforcement of effective credit control, delivery of set loss ratio and claims management framework.
    Responsibilities

    Developing and executing the agriculture business strategy;
    Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
