    The overall objective of this position is to help Corteva’s Enriching Lives Together Sustainability Strategy and lead implementation of our 2030 sustainability goals in Africa and Middle East. For this, the Regional Sustainable Development Manager AME will be responsible for working across our seed, crop protection and digital portfolios to support sustainable development. This position coordinates with internal collaborators in the region, including External Affairs, Commercial, and Research. This position will serve as the interface with external collaborators on sustainability projects. This position will work in Kenya or South Africa, but travel to other areas in AME to support activities will be expected.

    Primary Responsibilities Include

    Lead development and implementation of locally relevant sustainability programs.
    Engage with a range of external stakeholders and associations, maintain current relationships, and support partnerships that advance sustainability and sustainable development
    Consult with the regional business leaders (EA, R&D, Commercial, etc.) to embed the Enriching Lives Together Sustainability Strategy in the region, align with regional strategy, and contribute to commercial objectives.
    Scope out business cases for sustainability projects; identify and source partners and funding for projects and oversee project implementation
    Assess current operational practices, develop plans for new practices or change existing practices and then assess how effective the new or changed practices are at achieving Corteva’s sustainability goals and broad ESG topics.
    Analyze sustainability data using a variety of research methods to generate actionable insights for improving the performance of the sustainability program and contributing to business results.
    Work collaboratively and transparently with the global sustainability team; share progress, identify best practices and challenges; inform the path for regional goal targets; bring local guidance to strategy decisions, investments and discussions; inform materiality assessment; create bottom-up strategy recommendations.

    A commercial/legal/development degree with post graduate studies in international development, environmental and social sustainability and/or corporate citizenship
    5-8 years of relevant experience:

    Implementing community development and/or supply chain and/or human rights projects in rural environments and least developed countries
    Interacting with high level with commercial and governmental and NGO stakeholders.
    Participatory development of plans and strategies
    Knowledge & understanding of development partner engagement, financing, fund raising

    Good interpersonal skills and public speaking. Ability to effectively build relationships with internal colleagues, research partners, external customers and key influencers. Interaction with customers expected.
    Active knowledge of and interest in sustainability trends and measurement strategies in the food/agriculture industry to ensure that proper sustainability benchmarks are established and maintained.
    Strong organizational management skills, including experience working within a matrixed, decentralized organization.
    A high level of business/commercial acumen together with strong analytical skills.
    Able to design and execute work with minimal supervision, demonstrated through project management, relationship management, or equivalent. Self-starter and independent.
    Solid time management skills, with ability to track, manage, and meet deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines rapidly-evolving environment.
    Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
    Fluency in at least one regionally relevant language.
    Planning, budget and financial management experience a plus.
    Willing to travel, in accordance with corporate and applicable government travel and safety policies.

    Minimum Requirements for the Job :

    Experience in agriculture sector more than 3 years in auditing standards e.g. RA, UTZ, GLOBALGAP as an auditor, Social standards
    Training skills
    Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning ERP and UTZ multitrace
    Auditing experience of COCOA crop in RA or UTZ standard
    Currently auditing GRASP, 4C and ISO 22000 as well as other crops is an added advantage
    Audited or experience working with the standards: GG, GRASP, 4C, UTZ, RA
    Knowledge of relevant information systems and tools necessary to carry out quality monitoring activities on the certification process Such as (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Rainforest Alliance Learning Network, and Rainforest Alliance CB Management platform.

    Job Purpose;

    Carry out Curriculum Development for RTRC students undertaking sustainable organic Agriculture.
    Develop lesson plans for sustainable organic Agriculture training.

    Facilitate internal examinations for sustainable organic Agriculture.
    Ensure Training and Resource Center rules and regulations are clearly communicated to the students and are adhered to.
    Ensure the students participate in all relevant RWMT activities.

    Internal Administration

    Provide quality and timely delivery of the reports, in their agreed format and deadlines.
    Advice the Management of any key developments forums and any other networks which may serve to the advantage of RWMT and its ability to achieve its overall objectives.
    Interpret and implement government policies that affect the activities of the Agroforestry project.
    Ensure that Agroforestry casual staff are rotated and substituted appropriately.
    Take part in the process of wage preparation for the Agroforestry casuals.
    Review the projects operational budgets in conjunction with the projects team, Supervisor and relevant Finance staff.
    Maintain follow-up and feedback system to ensure efficient processes.
    Actively maintain the internal referral system to ensure beneficiaries are provided with maximum support from the organization’s various expertise.
    Ensure all inventory items issued to the department are maintained in good condition and are stored neatly and in a secured room.

    Role purpose

    The purpose of the Quality and Agronomy Lead (In charge of QMS, Irrigation, Phytopathology & crop protection) is to support the R&D site in Kenya Pollen to deliver the targets set by the breeders in time and within quality.
    To develop experience and knowledge of the basic skills associated with plant phytopathology, crop protection, and irrigation & plant nutrition, greenhouse climate management as well as quality management systems (QMS).
    To support the R&D Crop managers in quality management systems (QMS) GSPP/ISO and other quality audits.
    Oversight of the dealings and relationship with the local NPPO in support of the site, and collaboration with Quality teams elsewhere within Syngenta.

    Accountabilities

    Supporting the crop managers to grow healthy plants by ensuring irrigation, feeding, and disease and pest management to achieve their various crop breeding program goals.
    Ensure timely disease and pest monitoring, reporting and treatment/prevention programs.
    Plan and monitor the efficiency of crop treatment with CP/Bio products and ensure actions are taken when deviations occur.
    Plan and execute GH/growing area climate management, monitoring and prompt data collection and sharing with relevant team mates for timely decision making.
    Train the scouts and the general workforce on scouting and simple disease, pest and weeds identification techniques and maintain training records.
    Ensure and oversee regular training and proficient testing of spray operators.
    Administer proficiency tests, evaluate results, use them to design remedial and future trainings and provide them to auditors when needed.
    Ensure execution of laboratory tests/investigations on plant tissue/soil/seed and water to help in disease diagnosis.
    Ensure records of inspections, scouting reports, crop treatment, irrigation and feeding, seed health, audits and risk assessments are kept properly in easily retrievable formats and locations and are reviewed per procedure or when need arises.
    Oversee preparation for and execution of quality and system audits, follow up and closure of any gaps/non-conformities and organizes sharing of learnings and best practices within and between sites.
    Help your reports to set performance goals, evaluate them and take necessary remedial actions to close any performance gaps identified.
    Oversight and coordinate the Kenya Plant Inspectorate Services (KEPHIS) support to the site.
    Effectively communicate and liaise on a regular basis with site head, crop managers, Technicians, assistant technicians and breeders, on matters QMS, accreditation, phytopathology, crop protection, crop nutrition and general site hygiene and sanitation.
    Ensure the Tomato GSPP programme is run strictly per protocol to maintain accreditation status.
    Performing all tasks and behaving in a manner compliant with and in support of all health and safety related company policies and practices, including completing all required company training courses – online or otherwise.
    Manage the crop protection team- both temps and permanents ensuring adherence to rotation programs in line with requirements.

    The Budget and Programming Unit in the Regional Bureau for East and Central Africa (RBN) needs to strengthen its national capacity through the creation of a Budget and Programming position. The role will provide a range of specialized support for efficient planning, monitoring and analysis of project financial performance to enhance optimal use of finances.
    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or different fields with relevant work experience.
    Working Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in financial analysis, supply chain, budgetary and resource management analysis or related field experiences.
    Language: Fluency in both oral and written English. Intermediate knowledge of French would be an advantage.
    Technical Skills and Knowledge: Comprehensive analytical skills and advanced level of knowledge in application such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SAP and Tableau
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not inclusive)
    What you will do:

    Review budget plans, monitor and analyze project financial performance and make recommendations in compliance with WFP financial policies and procedures and best practices, to support financial analysis and optimization of resources.
    Provide comprehensive analysis on fund and grant balances identifying surpluses and deficits, and suggest corrective measures, to support maximum fund utilization and decision-making process.
    Support pipeline management ensuring efficient monitoring, to prevent and address pipeline breaks and maximize operational effectiveness.
    Contribute to the improvement of internal processes, enhancement of corporate systems and design of tools, to facilitate the overall planning, expenditure forecasting, and budget management and monitoring of resource utilization.
    Enter project budget plans and revisions in the corporate systems, to ensure data is timely and accurately captured enabling easy access to information and supporting planning and decision-making.
    Review, compile and analyse data, maintain accurate records and files and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, to support accuracy and efficiency of information presented to internal and external stakeholders.
    Maintain communication with a number of stakeholders regarding project funds management matters and related processes, to clarify any discrepancies and optimise use of funds.
    Provide guidance to other support staff and contribute to their learning and development in budget planning, fund management and operational planning, to facilitate continued development and consistency in services delivered.
    Follow standard emergency preparedness practices, to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
