    Lead resource mobilization drive in-country through opportunity scouting, partnerships creation, market positioning, opportunity profiling, capture planning, proposal development planning by working closely with the NBD team
    Support in identifying the unmet needs of stakeholders (e.g. donors, government and important beneficiaries) including all necessary information required to make the proposal competitive
    Assist in developing program specifics by setting the agenda for a series of program design workshops and documenting the results of:

    an initial draft development problem/hypothesis
    initial and final theory of change
    win themes, methods, and approaches in conjunction with project leaders, technical advisors, partnership advisors, NBD team, and consortium members

    support the development of action plans for refining program design
    Support the development of project staffing plan – development of draft org chart, position descriptions, approval of ads for personnel, and interviews with key personnel
    Support in defining the best value for the government (what can we do that is different, innovative)
    Provide inputs on cost data collection, and contribute to price-to-win strategy

    Finance and Administration

    Work closely with Chief of Party to Monitor overall project expenditure;
    Ensure all activities are conducted within the scope of the project budget;
    Ensure that cost share is obtained from partners as planned and properly accounted for;
    Ensure proper compilation and approval of annual financial reports;
    Ensure proper compilation and approval of Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation reports and outcomes.

    Required Experience

    Proven experience in Business Development and managing teams
    A minimum of a Masters Degree in an Agricultural related program
    At least 10 years of relevant work experience in an international development sphere
    Knowledge in contemporary Agricultiural innovations and technologies
    Ability to perform under time pressure, be flexible, work independently, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced multicultural environment.
    Knowledge of input and fertilizer markets is strongly desirable.
    Passion for market-led approaches to helping the rural poor to improve their livelihoods
    Excellent oral, written and interpersonal and communication skills in English and French
    Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks.
    High level of initiative and enthusiasm, adaptability, and flexibility.
    Strong presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to elaborate partnership projects and grant proposals
    A sense of initiative, discretion, mature judgment and entrepreneurial spirit is required. Capacity to effectively interact with a multiplicity of stakeholders including senior leaders.

    Role purpose

    Responsible for developing and implementing the East Africa Horticulture Go-to-Market (GtM) strategy and campaigns for key farmer and channel segments with the view to achieving sustainable profitability and market share consistent with the KPI’s, by satisfying current and future customer needs through tailored solutions.
    Enable the East Africa team to execute effectively on their go-to-market strategies.
    Identify new Horticulture business opportunities and build strategies to capture them.

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    Develop & implement short, mid and long-term integrated Go-to-Market (GtM) strategies and campaigns for potatoes & vegetables (including tree crops), in alignment with cluster and regional crop strategies to address customer segment needs and requirements.
    Ensure that GtM strategies are effectively implemented through tactical marketing plans based on customer segmentation.
    Define product/solution needs to achieve strategies and collaborate with cluster crop teams to ensure availability of such products/solutions. 
    Develop value proposition of products and tailored solutions based on collaboration with Market Development, Field Solutions and Sales organizations.
    Manage and co-ordinate pricing and market funding strategies as part of the GtM strategy to ensure profitable business growth.
    Define & build a portfolio & GtM initiatives aligned with the Smallholder Farmer (SHF) Strategy; supporting SHF Food Chain Partnerships & the SHF CP Optimization Workstream.
    Act as the key Customer Marketing contact for East Africa Horticulture, ensuring effective implementation of the GtM strategy.
    Analyze market, macro-trends, customer needs and competitor strategies to identify new business opportunities based upon unmet needs of current and new customers.
    Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Customer Insight team to generate necessary customer insight to develop customer centric GtM strategies and aligned campaigns.
    Collaboratively coordinate a project team to address needs and evaluate GtM strategies for Horticulture.
    Ensure dedicated involvement of interfaces in developing tailored solutions on a needed basis (Digital, FS, RS, MD, etc.).
    Support efficient implementation of key Stewardship measures as part of the GtM strategy and tailored crop solution.
    Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the development and effective implementation of GtM strategies.
    Contribute to a customer centric and ‘on the ground’ Customer Marketing Team and place customer needs, value proposition and practical implementation central to all decision making.
    Identify new and innovative (disruptive) ways to drive and grow the business.
    Collaborate, network and connect with Key Accounts, Processors and Traders of horticultural crops.
    Develop brand messaging & communication strategy – elevator speech, tagline, campaign themes, proof points, etc. Monitor consistent application of brand messaging throughout the campaign.

    Required Qualifications:

    Robust networks within the Kenyan financial and agricultural sectors.
    Proven track record developing high impact business models and strategies
    Experience working on USAID or other donor-funded programs of a similar size
    Excellent communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills
    Knowledge of USAID policies, procedures, and reporting requirements preferred

    Role Purpose

    Key Responsibilities and Tasks

    Actively provide knowledge and observations from field trials on project developments to Agronomic Solutions Manager by updating SCOUT continuously throughout the season.
    To be responsible for the maintenance of site equipment to ensure accurate and safe application of chemicals to trial sites and maintain storage facility in a professional manner.
    Accurate and prompt use of the trial database (in most cases SCOUT), ensuring data is available within two weeks for Agronomic Solutions and decision making in central functions in order to develop new products as quickly as possible.
    To actively participate in training, motivation and safety of temporary employees and all other commercial functions (e.g. Sales, Customer Marketing & Market Development).
    To adhere to all applicable safety regulations and procedures to ensure continued compliance with in-country Health & Safety regulations.

    Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

    University Degree or equivalent in Agriculture, Horticulture or Biological/Data Sciences; with focus on crop protection 
    Minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar role.
    Knowledge of crops and practical cropping systems as well as experience with field trials and field-testing methodology, including digital.
    Excellent human relationship and social competence (teamwork skills) required.
    Good networking and communications skills.
    Good organization and planning skills to manage complexity.
    Flexible and reliable person.
    Experience in data science in addition to high competence with IT applications including Microsoft Office and database systems.

    What we expect:
