    Key Duties and Responsibilities.

    The duties and responsibilities of the CEO will entail: –

    Spearheading formulation, implementation and review of the Board’s policies, regulations, procedures, strategies, standards and guidelines;
    Executing and communicating the Board’s strategies, decisions and policies;
    Providing linkage between the Board and the Secretariat;
    Being the Accounting Officer of the Board;
    Overseeing dispute resolution between industry players;
    Advising the Cabinet Secretary on issues related to national and international tea trade;
    Making recommendations to the Cabinet Secretary on the formulation of policies, plans and strategies for the regulation of the tea sector;
    Advising the National government on levies, fees and import or export duties on tea;
    Overseeing implementation and enforcement of the Tea Act 2020, regulations and standards in the production, processing, marketing, grading, storage, collection, transportation and warehousing of tea;
    Ensuring operationalization of the Tea Fund;
    Advising the County governments on agricultural cess and fees.
    Coordinating the preparation of business related proposals, reports and other submissions for consideration by the Board;
    Providing leadership and direction to the management to ensure that the mandate and policies are implemented;
    Maintaining a conducive work environment for attracting, retaining and motivating employees;
    Ensuring accurate and timely audits are conducted on the Board’s books of accounts;
    Ensuring that the Board has an effective management structure including succession plans;
    Enhancing collaboration and engagement with stakeholders and partners in support of TBK programmes and projects;
    Being responsible for stakeholder management and enhancement of the corporate image of the Board;
    Ensuring continuous improvement of the quality and value of services provided by the Board;
    Upholding integrity and professionalism in the performance of the Board’s functions;
    Fostering a culture that promotes ethical and good corporate governance;
    Ensuring that the Board complies with the relevant legislation in the provision of its services;
    Championing national values and principles of public service;
    Putting in place sound strategies to ensure prudent utilization of the Board’s resources and assets;
    Overseeing preparation of annual budgets and establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems and procedures;
    Coordinating preparation of the Board’s annual financial statements and submitting the same to the National Treasury, Parliament and the Controller of Budget as required by law;
    Ensuring that the Board utilizes its resources according to the financial guidelines provided by Government from time to time;
    Building capacity and managing performance of staff at TBK; and
    Preparing annual reports on the state of the Board.
    Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Board from time to time.

    Required qualifications and competencies.

    For appointment to the position of CEO, a candidate must have the following:

    Have at least Ten (10) years knowledge and experience in a relevant field;
    Have at least five (5) years relevant experience in a position of senior management;
    Hold a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Food Science and Technology, Bio-Chemistry, Agri-business, Laboratory Technology, Botany, Micro-biology and Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Micro-biology, Applied Biology, Applied Biological Science, Plant Nutrition, Marketing, Law, Business Administration / Management, Commerce or its equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
    A Masters degree in any of the following disciplines will be an added advantage:- Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Food Science and Technology, Bio-Chemistry, Agri-business, Laboratory Technology, Botany, Micro-biology and Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Micro-biology, Applied Biology, Applied Biological Science, Plant Nutrition, Marketing, Law, Business Administration / Management, Commerce, or its equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
    Be a Member in good standing with a relevant professional body where applicable;
    Have undertaken a leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    Be Proficient in computer applications;
    Meet the requirement of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.

    Job Summary:

    The job holder will be responsible for quality programme delivery at the Sub County level through technical leadership in food security, livelihoods and community engagement in Moyale sub-County in close collaboration with Manager, ASAL Livelihoods. Responsible for timely implementation of program activities guided by the annual work plan and informed by program technical approaches.

    S/he will also offer technical guidance in the county in the areas of Disaster Risk Reduction, market systems development, resilience modelling, and climate change adaptation.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide technical support to the community resource persons, local partners and Sub-county government line officers in charge of key sectors including department of agriculture livestock and fisheries, Water environment and Natural resources, trade, industry and enterprise development amongst others to establish a collaborative working environment; implement high impact and evidence informed interventions
    Lead in the day-to-day livelihoods program implementation and prudent utilization of resources towards meeting the program mandate in line with the approved work plan, organization policies, and standard operating procedures.
    Foster linkages with partners and other stakeholders in public and private sector in the Sub-county to enhance synergy, collaboration and learning.
    Represent Concern Worldwide at sub-county level livelihoods related technical and coordination forums in: Natural Resources Management, livestock sector forums, agriculture sector forums, WESCOORD, contingency planning and early warning systems, social protection systems and cash transfer programming, and others as will be specified by the line manager.
    Play an active role in generation of new knowledge through documentation of informal interactions and feedback sessions with communities and through participating/supporting surveys and other assessments; and documenting lessons learnt and success stories.
    Contribute to the development of the annual work plan and quarterly costed work plan and support in tracking implementation and reporting.
    Support in the implementation of Concern integrated approaches in education, livelihoods, health and nutrition at community level liaising closely with Technical Managers Health & Nutrition, Livelihoods, and Education and government service providers to ensure organized community groups have adequate technical support to develop and implement their action plans that address barriers to basic service delivery.
    Conduct regular field visits to monitor to monitor progress, receive community feedback, check on the quality and impact of activities approved in the annual program proposal, and quarterly costed work plans.

    Person Specification

    Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (Agriculture Production, Agriculture Economics, or Agronomics) or a related field.
    At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role
    Proven experience in community engagement and facilitation.
    Must have a working knowledge of Project Cycle Management, Climate Smart Agriculture, Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Animal health, Water supply systems, Natural Resource Management, Pastoral Field Schools, Making Markets work for the Poor and Value Chains Development.
    Demonstrated experience in implementing livelihoods programs in ASAL areas.
    Fluency in spoken and written language in English and Swahili
    Knowledge of local language(s) is an added advantage.
    Computer literate with good MS Office skills

    Job Summary

    Greenblade seeks to recruit two (2) Farm Managers for its two farms located in Ol Kalou and Thika.
    The job holders shall be responsible for executing the farm-specific business plan to enable the company to meet its budget targets by producing high-quality volumes of herbs and vegetables as per target yields, pack out, and other quality specifications.  

    Principal Accountabilities

    Analysing existing farm, packhouse and commercial operations, recommending and executing improvements geared towards optimizing operational efficiency across the business operations. Champion a continuous improvement and quality assurance ethos throughout the production value chain.
    Business scale-up planning to ensure investment in CAPEX is line with projected customer demand growth to achieve the right CAPEX intensity.
    Lead expansion projects, including setting up or extending requisite production infrastructure, including construction of Greenhouses and Tunnels, irrigation and fertigation systems, crop establishment husbandry.
    Timely and cost-effective sourcing of quality inputs (seeds, chemicals, fertilizers, packaging materials and other consumables to meet production, packhouse and commercial targets. Ensure proper maintenance of farm and logistical infrastructure and machinery to guarantee 100% uptime.
    Labour planning and resource allocation. Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members. Develop and implement strong performance management practice for all staff members.
    Budgeting and Reporting- Coordinate relevant departments in the preparation and submission of the following reports to the GM and the Board in the agreed time frame.

    Inventory movement report compared to set targets.
    Area under production, production volumes per block, yields, pack out, returns, shelf life, unit economics (selling price, unit farm and pack house cost, margins,) compared to budgeted KPIs)
    Growth parameters, including temperature, soil analysis, humidity, irrigation quantities and frequency, e.t.c and a report on how each of these parameters affect.
    Order fulfilment report
    Cold chain monitoring data with an aim of using data logger records to timeously resolve any temperature spikes affecting the shelf life.
    Quality control. The incumbent will ensure the health and safety of all the employees working under their supervision by enforcing compliance to applicable standards and regulations.

    Minimum Qualifications & Competencies

    A bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or other relevant agricultural qualification
    A minimum of 10 years of proven track record of large-scale production of high-quality vegetables and herbs
    A minimum of 5 years of end-to-end farm management experience, from procurement of inputs to crop husbandry activities and processes to packaging and delivery of the final products to customers.
    Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
    Commercially astute especially in clients and product management
    Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and business development skills
    Business leader with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams in decision-making and performance enhancement.

    Requirements

    Working experience in agronomy or breeding and ability to plant trials using different experimental designs.
    Basic skills in using FieldBook and demonstrated computing and data processing skills.
    Experience in conducting field research trials for a crop research program, supervision skills, capacity to work effectively as a team player, and an ability to work well in intercultural settings.
