    Job Description.

    As the County Business Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the adoption of our soil testing services among smallholder farmers within your assigned county. This role involves managing a team of field agents equipped with sensors to deliver soil testing services to smallholder farmers. The County Business Lead is responsible for driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering strong relationships within the county’s agricultural community.

    Responsibilities

    Market Development and Sales operations.

    Identify and analyze market opportunities, and challenges within the assigned County.
    Prospecting and meeting new potential clients and partners with purpose of selling UjuziKilimo products  soil testing services and data management platform.
    Selling UjuziKilimo products and services to potential customers
    Prepare monthly pipeline that will lead to closure and meeting monthly KPI set revenue.

    Stakeholder Engagement.

    Build and maintain strong relationships with local agricultural agencies, cooperatives, and other relevant stakeholders.
    Collaborate with government bodies, farmer cooperatives and NGOs to align initiatives and gain support for the adoption of soil testing practices.

    Team leadership.

    Recruit, train, and manage a team of field agents responsible for deploying sensors and interacting with farmers.
    Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance feedback to ensure the team meets productivity and quality targets.

    Deployment Oversight.

    Coordinate the deployment of soil testing sensors to field agents, ensuring proper training and understanding of the technology.
    Monitor the collection of soil testing, data accuracy, and timely reporting.

    Customer Support.

    Implement customer support mechanisms to address farmer inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
    Work closely with the customer support team to enhance overall customer satisfaction.
    Gather market intelligence and customer insights to inform product development and service enhancements.

    Data analysis and reporting.

    Prepare regular reports on business performance, including sales metrics, customer feedback, and market trends.
    Generate regular reports on soil health trends, adoption rates, and other relevant metrics.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Minimum College level education.
    Proven experience in agricultural business development or related roles.
    Proven experience and passion for sales and marketing with ability to meet revenue targets.
    Understanding of local agriculture, soil health, and farming practices.
    Excellent leadership, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
    Familiarity with new trends in agriculture is a plus.
    Willingness to travel within the county and occasionally regionally as needed.
    Must be based locally within the county of application.

    About the Role:

    We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Sales Agronomist with a passion for agriculture and technology. This role involves primarily fieldwork, including regular travel across Kenya. The candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling our smart greenhouses to farmers and agribusinesses, providing agronomic advice, and building strong customer relationships. A focus on highvalue horticultural crops such as herbs, tomatoes, capsicums, onions, and watermelon is key.

    Primary Responsibilities:

     Drive sales of our smart greenhouses to midsize farmers and export agribusinesses by targeting highvalue clients, building relationships with them and organising meetings to introduce them to our smart greenhouses before moving in to close and successfully handing them over to customer service.
     Provide expert agronomic advice, focusing on highvalue crops and maximising yield.
     Deliver effective training to farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). You should love being in the field with farmers and clients.
     Interpret soil and water test results, making recommendations on optimal farming inputs.
     Create and nurture deals on Hubspot CRM looking at data from Marketing and Customer Service on leads.
     Develop strong, longterm relationships with customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
     Collaborate effectively with all internal stakeholders and provide timely reports to support business decisionmaking.
     Ability to be fully autonomous, we are a lean team so won’t be able to train you, ideally you should be able to come in and hit the road running.

    Required Qualifications:

     A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field from a recognised university.
     Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Sales in an Agtech, Agribusiness or Manufacturing
     Good experience in using CRMs especially Hubspot as this will be your main work tool.

    Skills and Competencies:

     Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
     Proven experience in farmer mobilisation, training, and policy development.
     Ability to interpret and analyse farming data to optimise farm outputs.

    Deliver agreed on KPI’s as per department objectives. Institute immediate corrective action where performance is below par.
