    JOB SUMMARY
    We are seeking an experienced Flowers Packhouse Manager to oversee the operations of our packhouse, specializing in intermediate flowers, bouquets, spray roses, and Gypsophila. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in floral production, packing processes, and team management.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervise Packing Operations: Manage daily packing operations to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met for intermediate flowers, bouquets, spray roses, and Gypsophila.
    Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure all products meet company standards and customer expectations.
    Team Management: Lead and train a team of packhouse staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
    Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of flowers and packing materials, coordinating with suppliers as needed.
    Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in packing processes and implement best practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
    Customer Coordination: Work closely with Marketing and distribution teams to ensure timely fulfillment of orders and customer satisfaction.
    Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and quality metrics, providing regular reports to upper management.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
    Experience with lean management or process optimization
    Proven experience of 5 years as a packhouse manager or similar role in the floral industry.
    knowledge of flower types, particularly intermediate flowers, bouquets, spray roses, and Gypsophila.
    Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    Familiarity with quality control processes and inventory management systems.
    Effective communication skills.

    Excellent understanding of farmer organizations, sourcing and procurement techniques as well as dexterity in ‘reading’ the market. Experience with tomato growing farmers and Kenya’s tomato value chain will be an added advantage.
    Understands local and international certifications and how to practically manage them.
    Ability to effectively communicate with farmers and management clearly, accurately and articulate the company’s vision and get farmer buy-in to enable sustained supply.
    Self-starter. Result- oriented with strong analytical, and outstanding strategic, supervisory, leadership, interpersonal, mentoring, negotiation, decision making, communication and organization skills.

They currently are seeking to hire an A Packhouse Manager who will be responsible for the management in all operational aspects of the packhouse including quality, productivity, health and safety, compliance, staffing and maintenance.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Monitor and maintain quality specifications of lines of fruit & vegetable from allocation to production line, through to the supply to marketer.
    Ensure that all packhouse policies & procedures are adhered to by staff and the production line
    Through a specified maintenance plan/checklist ensure that all machinery within the plant is properly maintained and in optimum working order
    Ensure all Health & Safety and Food Safety standards and policy are adhered to
    Through an understanding of HSE best practice ensure the safety of yourself and your staff
    Work with the Employment Officer to ensure the line is adequately resourced with staff
    Ensure all supervisors are properly trained and that they train their respective teams
    Resolve conflict and deal with disputes in accordance with company employment and disciplinary code
    Build rapport with team leaders and staff on the production line ensuring open lines of communication
    Management of the pack house operations including all pack house staff and operations
    Sound leadership and direction in the pack house ensuring quality product output, accuracy and consistency in pack house processes and documentation
    Provide weekly/monthly and annual reports to the Operations Manager and Director
    Building and implementing best practice policies and principles
    Develop and train a team of pack house staff

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate must a diploma or be a graduate from a recognized university preferably in an agricultural related discipline.
    Must have minimum of 4 (four) years experience in managing Avocadoes pack house or perishable pack houses.
    Must have excellent management experience.
    Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
    Must have good numerical and planning skills.
    Must have an understanding and good knowledge of fresh produce industry industrial relations.
    Must be self-disciplined, a team player, honest and of high integrity.
    Must be able to work under minimum supervision while meeting the set targets & deadlines

    Key Responsibilities

    Build a strong and loyal raw milk supply base from the farmers in the Society’s catchment areas.
    Monitor and continuously grow milk volumes delivered to Society, and raise any concerns for timely interventions.
    Offer extension services to the Society’s dairy farmers.
    Develop and implement strategies on how to reactivate dormant farmers and onboard new farmers.
    Advice the Management and the Board on ways of improving members’ services and commitment.
    Lead the extension department in developing, implementing, and conducting comprehensive and effective farmers’ training, organized field visits, and support services.
    Coordinate with the Quality Control Officer on quality improvement of milk supplied by members and troubleshooting milk quality issues from the farmer level.
    Take the lead in guiding the extension department to initiate new technologies for adoption by the Society’s dairy farmers e.g climate-smart dairy farming, use of ICT tools, etc
    Disseminate any relevant information to the members, especially on all services available to them. 
    Provide technical advice on design elements (extension model and relevant approaches) to strengthen and reform the extension system.
    Advice the Management and the Board on how to increase milk delivery by farmers.
    Lead extension department in developing strategies to support the Society’s farmers to do dairy as a business; aspects of record keeping, reducing the cost of production, etc
    Structure work plans, targets, and reports for the extension department.
    Coordinate with other relevant departments to support the achievement of milk volumes and extension services for the members
    Submit daily, weekly and monthly res to the General Manager on activities done, results, challenges, and, recommendations.

    Qualifications & Experience 

    Diploma or Degree in Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture extension, and education, or any other related field
    With at least 3-4 years of experience  in Extension services
    Certificate of good conduct
    2 years valid driving license /Motorbike

    About the Role
    You will be the go-to person for coordinating the Maize buy-back project. From managing logistics for gathering maize to making sure deliveries are on time and collecting revenue, your role is essential for keeping everything running smoothly. You will keep an eye on inventory levels and make sure they’re accurate, and you will also handle payments to our platform farmers. Essentially, you will make sure that everything goes smoothly from the moment we acquire the maize, through inventory and deliveries, all the way to revenue and payments. It’s a vital role that ensures the smooth operation of the Maize buy-back project.
    Responsibilities

    Handle and process payments to platform farmers
    Manage logistics for aggregation
    Oversee and keep track of inventory levels, performing regular inventory reconciliation
    Supporting farmer mobilization to improve volumes of grains aggregated
    Create and develop relationships with buyers of grains, including surveying markets weekly
    Manage the coordination of sales, ensuring deliveries, and handling the collection and reconciliation of revenue.

    Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security.

    Qualifications
    Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

    Diploma in agribusiness, business, economics, business administration, and supply chain management, – with 2-year equivalent experience
    Project management skills and the ability to create and stick to timelines
    A track record in planning field activities and troubleshooting issues
    Broad knowledge of supply chain operations, warehousing, and warehouse management software, or the demonstrated ability to acquire and proficiently apply new skills in these areas
    Experience implementing process improvement initiatives
    Passionate about serving smallholder farmers
    General knowledge of Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and warehouse management best practices.
