  • Human Resource Intern

    Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Under the direct supervision of the cluster team leads the intern will assist with data analysis, reporting and record-keeping documentation for the Talent Acquisition Unit (TAU):
    Generating, digitizing, and maintaining documentation for staff and non-staff recruitment.
    Collecting data from various sources, such as databases and spreadsheets, and ensuring its accuracy.
    Cleaning and transforming raw data for analysis purposes.
    Creating clear and easy-to-understand data visualizations like charts and graphs.
    Providing support for various activities, including creating memos, following up contracts, and official documents.
    Review non-staff files and records to identify those to be retained or destroyed based on established policies.
    Work closely with the Records Management Team to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines.
    Create detailed reports summarizing the review process and decisions made.
    Cross-reference files with organizational retention policies and legal compliance requirements.
    Suggest improvements to the current filing and records review process based on observations.
    Prepare a brief report or presentation on findings and recommendations at the end of the internship.
    Document workflows and propose enhancements for future efficiency.
    Collaborating in the design and improvement of archives and records keeping.
    Contributing to the enhancement of archives and records keeping for team documents.
    Undertake tasks related to creation, organization, indexing, storage, retention and disposal of records. • Performing other assigned duties as needed.

    Qualifications/special skills

  • PHD Studentships

    Successful candidates are appointed for a 3 months pre-registration position during which they are assessed for their readiness and ability to register for a PhD. At the end of this period, students are formally assessed and only allowed to submit their university registration application if they pass the examination; otherwise, the studentship is withdrawn. Registration is subject to meeting the full requirements of the target university. At the end of the first year of registration, students undergo an upgrading assessment. This assessment determines if they will continue with the PhD training, be downgraded to an MPhil, or even have their studentship withdrawn.
    Partial studentships are targeted at students who are already registered for PhD in local universities and provide support for the students to spend time at KEMRI-Wellcome carrying out their research project. Normally, partial studentships run for a shorter period than full studentships.

    ELIGIBILITY

    Applicants must already have completed their Masters’ studies and not registered elsewhere for a PhD programme. Applicants must have scored a B+ and above in their KSCE and attained at least an upper 2nd class degree or its equivalent in the respective undergraduate degree programme.
    For undergraduate degrees that are not classified, ensure your average score through the four/three years is above 60 (GPA above 3.3). Provide certified proof of the same from your University.

    As part of the Global Advocacy and Policy team in the  Policy in the Public Affairs and Campaigns Department, this role will drive the development of a  shared vision to create a diverse movement to reimagine the global financial architecture from a justice perspective and influence multilateral decision-making over the next two years, enabling  joint policy and advocacy. 

    This role will ensure the delivery of high-quality policy, advocacy, movement building and programming in accordance with Christian Aid’s Programme Quality Standards, as part our  Economic Justice programme and ongoing partnership with the Open Society Foundations.  The postholder will play a pivotal role to contribute to Christian Aid’s economic justice policy and advocacy strategy and ensuring integration between our national, global and regional advocacy around both economic justice and governance & rights. 

    About you:

    Christian Aid is looking for an experienced individual to shape and deliver our global advocacy in a pan-African context.  The successful candidate will be experienced in working with coalition and networks of Civil Society and other like-minded groups  on advocacy and policy and have detailed in-depth understanding of current thinking and debates on economic justice and global economic architecture reform.
    You will you use your  policy research and advocacy, on issues such as tax and debt, aid flows, inclusive budget cycles to support movement building, with the ability to develop a wide range of relevant contacts.  The post holder will use its experience in working in global justice movements with an ability to build strong and cohesive relationships within complex and nuanced civil society environments to facilitate movement building and delivering innovative programme.
    With a track record in delivering impact advocacy and using a range of approaches, you will need to be a great team player with proven experience of building constructive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience in working with Open Society Foundations and  grant and financial management  is an advantage.

    Counselling

    Provide school-based counseling for students whose social/academic performance is affected by emotional and behavioral issues.
    Provide time-limited and research-based interventions for students needing school-based counseling intervention.
    Write 504 accommodations and Behavioral Intervention Plans based on best practices in the United States.
    Assist the principals, learning support teachers, and classroom teachers in implementing the 504 accommodation plans for emotional/behavioral issues.
    Serve as consultant for teachers who have students who are displaying social/emotional/behavioral issues in the classroom.
    Serve as a member of the Response To Intervention Team and Student Life

    Support Team

    Assist the Child Safety Team in conducting reviews, consulting with administration, and implementing support interventions for students.
