    About the programme

    You’ll explore and learn about our various teams, and what drives our Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) business. You’ll learn about our product offerings, how we position them in the market, and the processes and strategies behind them. Your learning will cover different segments, products and channels and how we manage customer experience. You’ll also experience the importance of cross-bank collaboration, to deliver projects and programmes.

    What you’ll do over 18 months

    You will be supported and launched into a banking career on a global scale through our 18-month graduate programme. During our induction, you’ll meet peers and senior executives from across the Bank, creating networks that will support your career growth.

    Our training programme will enable you to develop your technical, business, and interpersonal skills. You’ll get real-world simulations and case studies that will make our training come alive. Future skill development is a key priority across the programme and your career development, as we’re committed to changing the way banking works for the better.

    You’ll spend the first 12 months rotation in distribution/front-line followed by three rotations across a combination of Digital, Product and / or Segment based business areas on your preference/business demand. The final rotation will last six months and will help you understand our products in detail. It’s your opportunity to find the team you fit into best and begin your Standard Chartered career.

    ​​​JOB PURPOSE:

    A Site Forester specializing in dry land environments is responsible for managing, planning, and supervising forestry projects in arid or semi-arid regions. This role involves developing strategies for sustainable land use, enhancing forest resources, and conserving the fragile ecosystems typical of drylands.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Forest Management
    Develop and implement forest management plans tailored to dryland ecosystems.
    Monitor the growth, health, and productivity of forested areas.
    Identify and address issues such as soil erosion, invasive species, and water scarcity.
    Land Restoration and Conservation
    Lead reforestation and afforestation projects in dryland areas.
    Design strategies for soil stabilization, desertification prevention, and water management.
    Collaborate with environmental agencies to restore degraded land.
    Resource Assessment
    Conduct surveys and assessments to evaluate the condition of dryland forests.
    Utilize GIS mapping tools to analyze land use and plan interventions.
    Collect and interpret data to inform sustainable practices.
    Supervision and Coordination
    Oversee the work of forestry technicians, CFAs and other stakeholders.
    Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
    Coordinate with local communities to promote sustainable land use practices.
    Research and Development
    Study the effects of climate change on dryland ecosystems.
    Experiment with drought-resistant tree species and agroforestry techniques.
    Stay updated on innovations in dryland forestry management.
    Reporting
    Prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports on project progress, resource usage, and environmental impact.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
    Certifications in dryland forestry or desert ecology are an advantage.

    Experience

    Experience in forestry or environmental management, with a focus on dryland areas. Proven expertise in managing reforestation, afforestation, and conservation projects in arid or semi-arid environments.

    Skills

    Knowledge of dryland tree species, soil types, and water management techniques.
    Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing tools.
    Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
    Physical and Technical Requirements
    Ability to work in harsh environmental conditions.
    Familiarity with local environmental regulations and policies.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    The Government of Hungary has offered Two Hundred (200) scholarships to eligible Kenyans for the following areas of study:
    Undergraduate (BA/BSc) studies in the fields of Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science and Natural Science;
    Master’s (MA/MSc) studies in the fields of Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science and Natural Science;
    Doctoral (PhD/DLA) studies in any field of interest;
    One-tier master’s (OTM) studies in the fields of General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Architecture, and Veterinary Medicine.
    The provisions covered by the scholarship include; Tuition fee, Accommodation/Accommodation contribution for those who don’t live in the dormitory, Medical Insurance and a monthly stipend. Please note that these provisions do not fully cover all the costs of living in Hungary but are only a contribution to the living expenses and the students need to add their own financial resources in order to cover all living expenses in Hungary. 

    Eligibility

    Undergraduate
    Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of B (plain).
    Not more than 25 years of age.
    Grade “B” in core subjects in the preferred field of study.
    Completed Secondary Education in the last three (3) years.
    Have original KCSE certificate.
    Postgraduate
    Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree upper second-class honors level.
    For PhD, applicants must have a relevant Master’s Degree.
    Are below thirty-eight (38) years for Masters and forty-five (45) years for PhD.
