    ROLE PURPOSE
    The trial specialist cuttings department is responsible for all trials running in the cuttings department inclusive of the trials setup and reporting of the trials information to the management after completion of the trials season. From all trials done we will receive results. The results indicate a directional approach for the growing of a crop.
    Together with the Head grower and the Production manager a choice will be made for a growing method based on the trial results. To facilitate the decision making process the trial specialist cuttings department will organize periodic meetings after completion of the trials to determine the growing methods for a crop.
    The trial specialist cuttings department is responsible for the practical implementation of the agreed growing methods for the crop. This means in practice that the trial specialist cuttings department will have to teach the block coordinators and the head grower how to grow the crop according to the new and agreed growing methods.
    ACCOUNTABILITIES
    You will prepare all requested trials. For the new variety trials you will determine if the specie is new specie or one which we are already growing for some time.
    If the specie is a new specie then you are required to research within the literature under which conditions the specie is supposed to grow and based on your findings you are to determine in cooperation with the head grower and the production manager a trial setup which will result in the best growing method at the end of the season.
    If the specie is not new specie in our organization we will run the trial with similar growing conditions as the production varieties.
    For the research trials you will discuss with the people requesting for the trial the best trial approach. You will write a trial setup for the trial and set up the trial according to this trial setup.
    You will be in charge of all production activities of the new materials and research trials at Pollen.
    Growing of the plants, which are part of the trials program from the day the plants arrive at the farm as an unrooted cuttings until the plants are uprooted at the end of the season.

    Recording of all specifics concerning all trials running at the cuttings department.
    Handling of the records and organizing them in a useful manner in a computer file.
    Analyzing the records during the active growth of the trial and finalizing the analysis at the end of the trial.
    Compiling the results of the trials in a useful format and compile the final report.
    Presenting the report to the stakeholders. During this meeting new growing methods will be agreed upon.
    Advice and teach the Head grower and the Cuttings production Coordinators on how to grow the plants according to the new growing methods for every variety we trialed (new variety trials and research trials).
    Timeliness
    The Trial specialist will be required to be punctual in all activities (reporting, leaving, tea breaks, lunch break etc). The Trial specialist does have an example function and the common worker will mirror his or her timeliness to that of the Trail specialist.

    The Trail specialist is required to be an example to others in hygiene measures of all levels.
    Crop and greenhouse hygiene.
    Hygiene around the greenhouses within and without the compound of the company.

    Job duties and responsibilities
    Technical support to operations
    · Identify how National Societies and IFRC Africa food crisis operations teams can enhance the quality of their operations by integrating and/or scaling up an appropriate mix of approaches and activities to engaging with affected people and communities.
    · Ensure CEA activities and approaches are integrated in operational plans and budgets, and add value by helping the operation to meet its aims.
    · Support the harmonisation of CEA interventions across different sectors, within and across different operations, to help mainstream best practices.
    · Provide technical support to National Societies and IFRC Africa food crisis operations teams to:
    o Ensure emergency assessments are transparent and participatory, and capture people’s information needs and trusted and preferred communication channels.
    o Build community participation into operational planning, design and implementation.
    o Strengthen and/or help set up feedback mechanisms, including processes to make sure feedback is analysed and acted upon by operational teams.
    o Strengthen and/or help set up systems for sharing life-saving, useful and actionable information with affected people about Red Cross and Red Crescent services, from selection criteria to health advice, as part of information-as-aid activities.

    Capacity building
    · Provide targeted CEA training and mentoring support to National Society staff and volunteers and IFRC Africa food crisis operations teams.
    · Support the rolling out and adaptation of CEA Movement tools, methodologies and activities, as defined in the CEA Movement guide and toolkit.
    · Build the capacity of the National Societies to integrate CEA into their ways of working and support the development of exit strategies to map out which CEA activities and approaches can/should be sustained after the end of operations in order to support long term resilience-building efforts.
    Coordination, representation and reporting
    · Work closely with the IFRC CEA Regional Advisor for Africa to ensure there is consistency and sustainability between CEA in emergencies and CEA in long term programming within the region.
    Coordinate CEA efforts with Movement partners.
    · Coordinate and identify partnership opportunities with other NGOs, humanitarian agencies, UN, private sector and Government through food crisis working groups.
    · Identify opportunities for partnership with external organisations, including the use of technology and innovative approaches to enhance CEA.
    · Ensure CEA data is included in existing Information Management systems and platforms so it can be used to inform decision-making processes at strategic and operational levels.
    · Support evidence-based learning by supporting operational teams to assess and monitor levels of community engagement through research, impact surveys, perception studies and case studies.
    Support the positioning and visibility of Red Cross and Red Crescent CEA achievements and share data with the wider humanitarian network to inform and influence the overall response.

    The CaLP Capacity Building Lead will lead the development of CaLP’s training in the region. With an emphasis on consistently high quality work, s/he will plan, deliver and evaluate training courses and provide support to CaLP members in the delivery of their CaLP affiliated training. While the role has a strong training focus, the post holder will also engage with and support a wider capacity building agenda. This will include planning and facilitating learning events; providing advice and information to organisations engaged in CTP and contributing to the development of learning resources.
    The post-holder will contribute to the development of regional and global plans. At times, the post-holder will contribute to the development of funding proposals and will be responsible for generating information to contribute to donor reports. The post holder will ensure compliance with CaLP and donor policies and procedures as relevant to their work.
    The post holder will achieve all the above by working closely with the East Africa and Global CaLP teams, engaging with CaLP members and the broader community of practice. Working with a high degree of autonomy when delivering training, the post holder will maintain a high quality of work and professional standards at all times. The Capacity Building Lead will work with a range of CTP actors, engaging with people with a wide range of backgrounds, experience and seniority.
    Responsibility

    I. Position profile
    Under the supervision and guidance of the Project Manager, the Project Officer will be responsible for ensuring that projects’ activities are fully implemented in accordance with proposals, according to ACTED rules and regulations and donor requirements in Somalia.
    II. Responsibilities:
    Follow up the implementation project activities in Somalia to ensure the project is completed in a timely and accountable manner
    Ensure that ACTED actions are ethnically fair and proportionate.
    Coordinate with the field team in Somalia and other departments to prepare and implement project monitoring and evaluation plans.

    Ensure all activities undertaken are appropriately documented (agreement/MOUs with relevant authorities in Somalia, attendance sheets and training circular, beneficiary Registration lists, work plans and accounts when relevant etc)
    Coordinate with AME departments in alerting them on all planned monitoring activities of the projects and create smooth work relationship
    Liaise with field project officers in providing necessary technical support in reporting and implementation of project activities
    Budget and monitor project expenditures to ensure they are in line with ACTED and donor requirements.
    Liaise with other departments to coordinate procurement and other needs for project implementation and organization base support
    Produce departmental internal report on weekly and monthly basis
    Provide internal reporting as requested from coordination and line management
    Accurately manage payrolls for beneficiaries ahead of cash transfers.

    III. Requested profile
    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Development studies, Social science or other relevant discipline
    Project management experience in Donor Funded Projects
    Demonstrated experience in project management in an NGO/INGO is highly preferable.

    Able to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines
    Hands On experience in report writing
    Prior significant humanitarian work experience is an added advantage
    Ability and willing to travel in Somalia

    Major Duties and Responsibilities
    Analysis of laws and policies on FGM and child marriage;
    Draft high-quality technical submissions for advocacy (e.g. on draft laws, policy statements, petitions etc.) and human rights treaty bodies and mechanisms (e.g. African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights);
    Development of effective legal and people-led advocacy strategies;

    Description of the position
