    The Kenya programme of Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is the lead implementing partner in food security and livelihoods under the Support for Protection and Assistance of Refugees in Kenya (SPARK) Programme. SPARK is a DIFID-funded project being implemented in Turkana West Sub-county through a consortium of 5 international NGOs – NRC (lead agency), Film Aid International (FA), Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Handicap International (HI) and AAH-I.
    The SPARK livelihoods strategy seeks to promote self-reliance among the target beneficiaries witnessed through training the host community and refugees on production of building material, ceramics, pottery, briquettes and marketing of the products hence increasing their financial income and strengthening their resilience. In this regards, AAH Kenya considers utilizing innovations that better build on existing capacities of its target groups through enhancing the skills of the groups to produce assorted, quality and marketable products from the constructed kilns.
    Refugees and host community in Kakuma have a potential of improving and strengthening their value chains, which aims at an overall enhancement of self-reliance and livelihoods. With the availability of raw materials, construction of building material, energy saving jikos, ceramics, pottery and brackets will be achieved. The consultant will be required to provide trainings to 100 persons of concern (PoCs) and ensure they are skilled in assembling, advertising and selling of the products.
    Objectives

    The consultant is expected to train 100 refugees and host community on the use of a kiln for production of ceramics, Pottery, briquettes and etc.
    Document and share progress of the consultancy and status of the 100 PoCs (four groups of 25 PoCs each)
    Identify strategies for advertising, selling and establish market linkages for the products developed
    Link up the products to SPARKBay online marketing platform for the consortium

MSF provides a full package of medical care through 2 primary health care units and 1 hospital (100 beds) with 24 hour emergency and Operating Theatre. Health services include curative, preventative, nutritional activities and emergency preparedness and intervention with partners. The selected candidate will be reporting to the Midwife Supervisor

    The job activities include but are not limited to;

    Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC 1 and CEmONC 2), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardised protocols.
    Where PMTCT is implemented, ensure implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations (pre counselling, test and post counselling
    Collaborate with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
    Assess the feasibility for referral of pregnant women from the TBAs to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
    Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to MSF specifications.
    Properly follow up all newborn babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
    Ensure patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected Supervise that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with MSF protocols , as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc
    Participate in the organisation of the ward in collaboration with other midwifes and the maternity ward supervisor.
    Ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (specially identifying risk cases) According to MSF protocols in force, conduct normal deliveries independently Manage obstetric emergencies; identify cases needing referral and send them in time, clean up the newborn, executing and registering first neo-natal medical acts (cutting and cleaning the umbilical cord, vaccination, etc.), detecting possible anomalies/infections of the newborn and reporting them to the doctor, in order to ensure successful interventions
    Supervise the use of drugs, facilities and obstetric material, in order to ensure, in accordance with number of patients and prescriptions, a rational use as well as pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated, kept under appropriate conditions and above minimum safety point. 1 BEmONC = basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care = Administration of antibiotics, oxytocics, anticonvulsants, manual removal of the placenta, removal of retained products following abortion, assisted vaginal delivery, preferably with vacuum extractor and newborn care including neonatal resuscitation. 2 CEmONC = comprehensive obstetric and neonatal care = the full package of BEmONC Plus; surgery (caesarean section, hysterectomy, laparatomy), safe blood transfusion and care to sick and low birth weight newborns
    Ensure sensitization activities and health talks, are carried when necessary a therapeutic education of the patient (and family) using a patient based approach.
    Ensure that routine laboratory tests are performed, interprete the results and adapt the approach if necessary
    Be responsible for regulation, documentation and proper utilization and storage of the departmental medical supplies including the controlled drugs.
    Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (Make sure that the department registration, patient files, forms, and HIS reports are updated on time and participate in the analysis of these statistics.
    Identify high risk client antenataly and postnataly and refer them to high risk clinic or maternity for management and monitoring.
    Educate and book high risk client for review at high risk clinic on discharge from Maternity ward.
    On discharge educate patients; advice mothers on useful topics for their home return; breastfeeding, emergency signs of post-partum complications, family planning (importance of child spacing) Ensure the patient’s correct understanding of possible treatment and verify that the patient has received the documents: birth certificate, vaccination card, etc.

    The roles and responsibilities include:

    To operate vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly, and obey Kenyan traffic laws;
    To ensure that all passengers in the vehicle use seat belts, and that no people or animals are transported in the loading area where there are no seats or seatbelts;
    To maintain the office vehicle log book and submit it on a weekly basis to the Finance Officer;
    To oversee fuel and vehicle maintenance needs and submit related receipts to the Finance Officer;
    To deliver and collect relevant items as per the needs of the project team, while ensuring all accurate documentation on the content of the items, who requested the transport of the items, who received the items, and obtaining appropriate signatures, using a dispatch book or other documentation of receipt;
    To keep the office vehicle free from damage, in best possible condition, as well as clean both inside and outside. The field driver must ensure that the vehicle is in proper and safe condition prior to use, and report any damage or mechanical malfunctions in due time prior to use;
    To manage the logistics of various items while in transport, including loading and unloading, ensuring that the cargo is properly secured to avoid damage;
    To maintain an excellent driving record, meaning that a valid Kenyan license must be presented at the time of employment, and no more than two violations can exist on an employee’s driving record at any given time.     JOB SUMMARY
    Reporting to the Head Driver, the Driver will be responsible for the safe driving and Care vehicles and property.     RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

    Perform daily, weekly, monthly transport duties.

    Drive care vehicles, and or equipment as shall be assigned by the Supervisor in a safe and economical manner in conjunction with the regulations in place.
    The Driver responsible for the routine check-up of the vehicles, routine check-up to include but not limited to oil, brake function, water, lights & tire condition, windshield wipers, etc.
    Confirm availability of vehicle tools and equipments before, during and after work.
    The Driver shall always maintain assigned vehicles clean and in good condition, properly for the convenience of the Organizations’ operations.
    The driver shall always stop the engine and electric power of assigned vehicles to save consumption of fuels and the general vehicle engine performance.

    The Driver shall handover the assigned vehicles by doing a comprehensive handover report before departing for leave/cto.

    Ensure safety of the vehicle /passengers /materials.

    The driver shall always drive vehicles safely and comfortably and must exercise defensive driving while on the road to prevent accident.
    Reckless driving shall be sufficient ground for the driver’s recall and consequently be a cause of disciplinary action.
    He/she shall adhere to Safety and Security regulations/SOPs.

    Ensure all vehicles legal documentation or condition is met by the organization.

    Check validity of vehicle insurance covers, road license and Police inspection stickers.
    Ensure the assigned vehicle is serviced as stipulated in the periodic servicing schedules.
    Report license expiry dates to the Supervisor on time to facilitate renewals.
    The Driver shall update vehicles logbook particulars by making right entries.
    Clearly indicate in the Drivers’ log book the amount of fuel taken and location.

    Report immediately to the Police and Supervisor; not accepting liability on behalf of Care.
    Present a comprehensive report to the management within 24 hours.

All vehicle movement must strictly be under scheduled police escort (scheduled convoys) with strict adherence to safety and security instructions all the time. It is a five (5) days work station; Monday to Friday.
    The incumbent shall reside out of CARE compound and shall report to work at 0800 hours and leave at 1700 hours with a lunch break of one hour.
